I have a 99 vt acclaim and was driving the other day and when I pulled up I noticed the temp gauge start to climb I quickly turned the ignition off and checked to see if the hose from radiator to motor had popped off there were no leaks etc so I jumped back on a started it back up then I noticed none of the dash gauges are working or the Odometer screen and the radiator fans aren't working either I've replaced fuses both in the car and under the bonnet with all new ones gone over wiring to see if any are exposed or not connected properly witch I can't find any faults ??? I don't know what's going on all dash lights inductors headlights still work on dash just not gauges or radiator fans?????

I had a similar issue a while back, check the thermostat mate and if no issues with it then may be a problem with the radiator

Hi every one my Vt is having a probb
if i turn the key to start normally there is nothing as if i hav a flat batt but if i turn off then back on really fast it starts then consequently stalls
i have changed my BCM as i was having trouble with my central locking not working now all my elec seem to be fine and working
We have had An intermittent start prob as in if it didn't start first time you had to turn ignition all the way of and back on to start the car
i have replaced the start / ignition switch no change "PLEASE HELP"

Battery went flat in 99 vt acclaim replaced battery NOW keys wont do central locking and red light above mode on dash flashing all the time ....I think immobiliser is on but cant take car anywhere and we are in country vic no mobile services HELP

It's most likely that the onboard computers ecu has been tripped so it's likely better to have the car towed to a holden australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help and the auto electrician is usually cheaper so it's more likely the better option.

I've bought a 2000 vt commodore and noticed there is no 60A abs fuse in it, does this mean my abs is not working?

If there is no fuse, the ABS will not be functioning as the system has no power. Get a 60A fuse and put it in, the seller possibly took it out so no fault would show up concerning the ABS system. On the VT-VY commodores, there was an endemic issue with the ABS Module when you got to a certain age/ mileage. I know this, as relatives own a VY that had ABS problems. Good luck!

I have a problem V6 motor is shaking alittle bit and when I put in gear it shaking bad every time I'm at traffic lights stop and I check everything like spark plugs, hoses lead, air leak but I have no idea what cause it so when I driving it a little bit shake but it lack of power alittle bit and it 1998 vt commandore so what else could be?

hi just wondering if anyone could help my vt commodore after about 1 hour of driving it shuts down and keeps shutting down when you stop for 30 seconds then you can start or you wiggle the wires on coil pack then it will start but still stops after bit anyone have a clue?

Hi my sons 2000 commodore was really low on power steering fluid. Top it up just over line. Had engine running did the turns of the steering wheel. We drove hone roughly 10 min drive. Had a tight spot to reverse into and we lost all fluid. Any suggestions? Was going to fill again and repeat to see if still does it?

Hi just wandering how much radiator coolant do I put in a holden Commodore vt acclaim 1999 model? N do I add water with it or concentrate? As my radiator has a lot of water in it

I would recommend getting rid of the old liquid then consulting your manual or perhaps you could call up holden and ask one of their employees for help

Some cars come with naturally occuring signal faults, however, I would recommend you take the car to a holden australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help.

I have smoke coming from under extractors on left side, I overheated and car died, it was smoking, after allowing to cool I noticed it was low on oil after topping up oil and water had towed home, I did spill oil a bit would that cause smoke also engine light on. Please advise?

My friend has a 99 vt series 2 gen3 hsv. When u accelerate it shudders. At first I thought it was a broken engine mount but then I checked them n they were fine. So could it b the tailshaft area?

When you say shudders, would you say its similar to lifting your foot past the friction point and not applying the accelerator in a manual car? Also, does the engine clank when you accelerate like its about to fall apart? Does the car twitch when you drive?
If you answered yes to any of the above, it could be a fault in the coil pack or spark plugs. I had this issue with two of my cars before. The cylinder doesnt ignite because the coil pack doesnt deliver electricity to the spark plugs, or the spark plugs are on their way out. This causes a misfire in the engine, and the "explosion" that moves the cylinder piston back up for the next cycle doesnt move quick enough. That causes the shudder.
Good news though, its a cheap fix if the problem is spark plugs or the coil pack. being a v8, it will have either 8 coilpacks over the engine, or one or two rectangular cases and the coilpacks are inside. I'm not 100% sure about where they would be located though, so time to bring out that dusty owner's manual.
If you go to a wrecker youd probably get the coil packs for $50 individually, or around $200 if theyre in clusters. Spark plugs wont cost you more than $20 a pop, unless you want some fancy iridium ones ($40 each).
If you said no to all the questions on the first line, I'd recommend taking it to your local mechanic or holden dealer for them to have a look.

Either has no power or the fan motor has died. Have you tried an auto electrician?

Hi my 2000 vt s/w has an issue.i start car up start driving to work as it get to half way temp engine lights comes on and it like it goes to limp mode wont change gear.struggles to take off from start its like it stays in 4th gear.?
