18 years.. Still great.
Bought it with 17,000 on it. Still current model (then). Went from a TR Magna to this. Heaps more power. Not as "lively" to drive as the Maggot (Manual. VX is an auto). Drove it everywhere... Kids grew up with it. I am 6'4" son is similar. He can sit behind me and have plenty of room.
Car is S pak series one. Got the rear suspension sorted very early. Now the rear tyres wear the same as the front. Best was 95,000 from a set of Dunlop SP Sports. Very econoical IF you know the tricks. Plenty of country trips. Best of 6.6 Litres per 100 k's, lik...Read more

This is Perfect! I won't be discontinuing the use of this Car
I bought this car from a car sale yard back in 2013 (2000 vx Commodore station wagon) and I've never had that much of a problem with this car which the only problem I had was that it needed a new "iac valve". At that time a "professional mechanic" told me that it had this problem or that problem" which kept affecting my hip pocket $$$ in the end. So I then took my car to a "back yard mechanic" who found the problem, which all it needed was a new "iac valve" never had a problem ever since. This is the best car I've ever owned and still is in 2020
Purchased for $4,000.00.

Power, luxury and looks
As the last model to use the European Opel Omega based platform, the VZ was also the first to introduce a range of new features. Essentially an update and a technically Series 3 of the VY, the VZ Calais was given a much needed and well deserved facelift. Gone was the subtle appearance of the previous VY.
The Calais gained a more aggressive look to the body kit. An all new front bumper with small lips/flares, blacked out headlights with a chrome ring, chroming around the fog-lamps and on the bonnet, all attributed to a unique nose of the Calai...Read more
s. Speaking of unique, how about those nice 17 alloy rims which (unlike the VYII Calais) were ONLY features on the VZ. Though mine now has 18 HBD alloys. Since we're on the side of the Calais, there is also a nice chrome door strip and chroming around the window seals. You also the unique 'Calais' badging on the rear door, which the VZ was the last to feature this up till the VFII Calais was produced. The rear has also been treated to a unique look. The rear taillights have the blacked out, theres a chrome boot garnish for where the number plate sits, and if factory fitted, is a rear spoiler with chroming on the top. Which again mine had, but now has a Mazda 3 lip spoiler in place. Overall the looks have kept the car fresh looking and in my opinion, it has dated at all. In-fact id go as far to say it looks better than the VE and VF, and far far better than the ZB. The interior is amazing, in the regards of both design and materials used. There are hard scratchy plastics but only down in the footwell and partially on the doors. The dash is a soft touch plastic which follows onto the front and rear doors. Also, there is leather padding on the doors where your arms would rest and suede on the doors and lower dash. The seats are full black leather which are in great condition. The front seats are electric with drivers memory, you get dual zone climate control, rear air-vents, a six stack CD player, factory fitted Nokia bluetooth (which works with the lasted iPhone), all electric windows and mirrors, nice courtesy interior lights and a premium three screen gage cluster which you can change to display anything from average fuel to even a digital speedo. Safety is also key, and this car isn't short of that. The Calais features four airbags (front and side impact), ABS, ESP, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, warning chimes for when handbrake isn't full unlocked and for when driver seat belt hasn't been put on and braking assist. Power comes from a 3.6L 190kW 340Nm V6 mated to a 5 speed auto transmission driven via the rear wheels. The engine is responsive and doesn't have to work hard to get you going. The 5 speed auto is a massive benefit, and works very well when driving the Calais calmly. But when you need to overtake a truck or a slow car, the auto needs to hunt for the gears and knocks back pretty hard. Nevertheless it is a good transmission and its made even better with the addition of paddle shifters which allows for a sportier experience. The engine has been a good unit so far with easy/standard maintenance. In the city it has plenty of low down torque to move you without needing to push the peddle much and highway deriving is even better (and smoother). The five speed auto is great on the highway, keeping revs under 2000rpm. In the city its good, but as mentioned in my first review sometimes it hunts for a gear or two when you need to push the car. Servicing has been easy and not too costly either which is good. Best part is you can service the car yourself which saves a bit of money.Purchased in February 2021 at Carsales.com.au for $5,500.00.

Amazing value. Fun to drive. Best car ever driven.
Bought the car in July 2022. Had test driven the Mazda 6, skoda superb, Toyota Camry v6, Commodore car, Calais V lift back.
Mazda was cramped and gutless. Skoda was bland and tinny and too light weight, Camry Head room was a problem and torque steer with a v6 very noticeable, the VXR I loved but bug 20 inch wheels made the car thud and shudder over patches in the road. The Calais V lift back also has 20 inch wheels and the ride was jarring.
My car has a smooth ride. Amazing v6 engine. Amazing cruise control and auto braking. L asbe keep assi...Read more
st. The head lights switch to low beam when a car approaches then auto switches back to to beam. They also swivel when going around a corner. I love the power boot lift and close and how it's hands free using your foot under the rear. The back seats are self folding you just touch the button. . The seats are all leather. The panoramic sunroof is incredible. From my remote I can start the car, open all the windows and the sun roof When I leave the car it self locks closes all the windows and sunroof. The Bose sound system is magic. The steering is light. This can be adjusted electronically to suit the driver. There is an auto start stop which saves fuel but can be turned off if you want. The car is all wheel drive so no torque steer. The engine it's very quiet. There is a system in the car which was developed by Bose that dampens the sound uncaring the audio system. It offers everything that a BMW or Mercedes does. Some weaknesses would be, air conditioner is not quiet. Delivered tyres are SUV tyres so quite hard and firm. Mats included are low pile and cheap. No speed limit indicator on the GPS.Purchased in July 2021 at Holden Dealers for $35,250.00.

VF 2 SPORTWAGON.....WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST VALUE LARGE CAR
Having driven large European cars over the last 20 years, [ some from new], I can't be happier with my VF2 Sportwagon. It was assembled in the last fortnight of production and the quality of finish can't be faulted.
I would highly recommend the purchase of a low mileage well serviced VF2. The opportunity to own such a high value, quality car will unlikely be repeated.
A recent test drive of a top of the line 7 seater SUV, reinforced our decision to buy this large car, rather than a SUV.
If you enjoy driving, and want a large car, this is t...Read more
he choice. SUVs have improved over time but are still 'truck like'. What a shame SUVs, which are in most cases, more harmful to the environment, and have taken the joy out of driving, have contributed to the end of production of such a fine car as the Commodore VF2.Purchased in January 2021.

Love Commodores
I love Holden Commodores but the VE is by far my favourite. It is so smooth and for a V6 it is very fuel efficient. Would recommend a VE to anyone

Fantastic car!
I bought this VX series 2 Equipe when it had 110k. The car now has 270k. I saw others with 350k or more on the clock and going strong. So I had the car for a lot of its life. I use it as family car and commute to/from work. I use it daily. The car is serviced every 10k. I had to replace the thermostat once. Never ever had any other issues at all with it and my mechanic said it's one of the best car that's ever been on the road. It feels like the day I bought it and it has 'bullet proof' engine that will perhaps outlive the life of the car. The ...Read more
parts are very cheap and easy to find, mind you, I only needed normal maintenance parts such as spark plugs, brake pads, bulbs, filters etc. Lots of people complain about its high fuel consumption. I travel long, medium and short distances and I get a monthly average return of 9.5%. Lots of newer cars that cost 3 or 4 times more will perhaps drink about 8% anyway. If you do your numbers you will see that will be paying about $500 more in fuel per year. That is the cost of a drink each week. However, I wouldn't pay $25k for a car to save $500/y in fuel per year. It doesn't make sense. VX are very roomy inside, with generous boot, very quiet, plenty of power, I can't fault it for anything.Purchased in January 2021.

Beautiful Car
I bought this new car in April 2022 and it is the best Holden I have driven. I have owned lots & lots of Holdens starting from the HR to the HX Sandman & VF & now the ZB.
Like every one I was a little sceptical about buying the new German Import & I actully didnt even test drive this car I bought it over the phone my first drive of the car is when I signed for it.
But what a surprise the new V6 has a lot more power than any other Holden V6 that I have driven'
On the first service the car Required nothing to be fixed.
Good job Holden but you need to market this car better people are not aware how good this car is.
I will buy Holden again.

The car isn't really that bad, Holden's warranty and after sales service is 1 star
So I (foolishly) bought a ZB RS wagon, and had a Holden genuine towbar fitted by the dealer. Now the park assist doesn't work and my local dealer who is 40 minutes closer than the dealer I bought it from won't fix it. Sure they tried a few simple things but now they are saying they need to remove the rear bumper and it won't be covered by warranty!!! Freaking unbelievable!! I am the first private owner of this car (it is a dealer demo) and it has 4 years warranty left. The original dealer is happy to have a look but they are over an hours drive...Read more
away and I will need to get a hire car whilst they try to fix it. Do not buy a holden, worst most useless warranty ever. I even had 2 different people from Holden give me 2 different stories, one even suggested had I had the towbar fitted interstate that I would have to return to that dealer, absolutely ludicrous. Now I have to return to the dealer that sold me the car and fitted the towbar, as this is not a quick fix I will probably have to hire a car, so don't be fooled into thinking a warranty means no out of pocketr expenses, it doesn't.Purchased in June 2021 for $26,500.00.

I smile when I drive
I bought the RS-V Wagon and drive it mainly to work. Having driven V6 cars only this car is a dream to drive. I know what people say about the name and being imported but the car itself is great. The feeling of the AWD and sports handing mixed with the sound of the engine make it fun to drive. The interior is very stylish and has all the features you could want and more. The Holden MyLink is improved on the VF and simple to use and electronic dash makes accessing features easy and safer to do when driving. Opted for premium mechanical plan so a...Read more
ll up bought with 7 years of warranty and roadside assist. Must be serviced by Holden but the price online seems reasonable. Overall there are always things to improve, and I guess that may come in cases of things more mechanical over time. I’d love some more storage compartments for one, and more room in the compartments you do get.Purchased in August 2021 at Brighton Holden.

Great Car Except For Water Trails Behind It..
Every time we drive the car and after doing approx 5 to 10 kms it leaves trails of water from both exhaust pipes...Holden dealer and customer service say this is normal for all zb 4 cylinder commodores....I expect some water at start up for a few moments but not after driving for over 10 or so mins in low humidity.....Any one else have this trouble...The photo attached is after the car was driven 9 kms on a fine sunny day ...

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
We picked up our ZB RS 2.0L turbo last week. It has 5500km on it first registered in Oct 18. I am really impressed, i have owned a number of Holden in the past (VH Commodore, WH Statesman Gen3, VE SS, VF SS LS3) and they have all been great but this one is light years ahead. I think the people who slam this car have never driven one and can't move on from Aussie manufacturing being closed. Sure it is a bit smaller than the VF but is bigger than the VT. I test drove a Subaru, and a Camry (Camry looked good but very disappointing to drive, it was...Read more
like a gutless whale compared to ZB) and the Commodore is far superior. I drove both the 2.0L T and the V6 AWD. Look i nearly grabbed the V6 but went with the 4 cylinder. This thing is quick, certainly quicker than the VF SV6 and i think it would be quicker than the WH with the LS1 5.7L. People just need to remember the first commodore came from Germany and now it has gone back to its' roots. Shame that holden don't have a V8 in it, it would be lethal or perhaps a twin turbo 6 to replace the V8 but i just read they are bringing out the new mid engine Corvette as RHD so that will tick that box for the price of a HSV GTS. I say go and drive one you may get a suprise.Purchased in June 2021 for $29,000.00.

2015 SV6 Storm best buy for the $
Love this car. Best value car for the $. Economical .9 to 10 liters per 100 KLM around town. 6.4 to 7.5 highway driving. Perfect mechanically. Always serviced at Holden dealership. Powerful and beautiful premium Prussian Steel paint. Roomy. Would have liked full fold down rear seat and Hurrican mufflers but hey, this is a superb car and a keeper. Better than the new BMW, Turbo Falcon and Jag I used to drive. Buy one while you still can with low mileage. Cheers.

SV6 - Safe, sure, reliable. Power when I need it
With very few options after my car was stolen and Real Insurance 'conveniently' lowered the agreed value on the last renewal of the pay-by-the-month insurance, I bought my first Holden.
A second hand 2006 SV6 commodore.
Wow! Power when I need it for towing for moving house (who needs a removalist when I have this beast??)
When using it day-to-day the only thing I need to remember is not to be tempted to floor it, which keeps the economy surprisingly good. But it's so cool to have the power when I need it ;)
The ride is smooth even in offroad...Read more

Love driving this car
Bought the VF Sportswagon back in Feb 2015, had to wait a few weeks as I wanted the 2015 model with additional features. Everyone who’s been in the car loves it. Lots of space, smooth, fairly quiet, leather interior, handles well and goes like the living Jesus when you want it too. Pretty good on juice does about 800klms to the 80 litre tank. Best car ever, will keep it for a while yet!

Questions & Answers
Mick.Lasked
I changed battery and now have low idle, nearly stalls and reverset has no power. It is a ss with Ls1.
1 answer
Hi Mick, I read that you're having problems with your Holden Commodore VZ particularly with the "low idle, stall" which could likely be a computer problem (mix up) after you've "changed the battery", (I'm wondering if your vehicle is coded with a 4 digit number? and is the main centre screen on dash showing any message asking for the code?) Or it could be your computer may need to be remapped (tune) and if you've tried that and it hasn't worked, maybe your car needs to "relearn the idle"and best advice is to take it to a trusted Holden dealer.
