Awesome family all rounder - shame they're not made any more
Purchased a 3.6L VF Calais Nitrate ex. demo with 3,000 kms on the dial from Watson Holden. Now at 96,000. I'll focus on the car but Watson Holden have been fantastic in sales and service.
We purchased the VF Wagon for family duties. It gets used daily for trips ~30km and then for 200-300 km on the weekend when we go surfing or visit family out in the sticks.
What I like about it:
- Comfort - it's so quiet and refined around town and on the freeway
- Running costs - Currently averaging 10.1 l/100km (hwy around 7-8), uses 91RON, tyres last arou...Read more
nd 70k with rotations every second service, service every 9m/15,000 kms and have never payed more than $220 for a service. No warranty or change over parts needed so far - still on original pads. - Safe - airbags everywhere, good visibility, rear cross traffic alert and blindspot detection - Great sound system, awesome with a slimline subwoofer added (I installed a pioneer and it pumps). The bluetooth/MyLink is quiet, works reliably with all of our phones. - Full sized spare.

VF 2 SPORTWAGON.....WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST VALUE LARGE CAR
Having driven large European cars over the last 20 years, [ some from new], I can't be happier with my VF2 Sportwagon. It was assembled in the last fortnight of production and the quality of finish can't be faulted.
I would highly recommend the purchase of a low mileage well serviced VF2. The opportunity to own such a high value, quality car will unlikely be repeated.
A recent test drive of a top of the line 7 seater SUV, reinforced our decision to buy this large car, rather than a SUV.

he choice. SUVs have improved over time but are still 'truck like'. What a shame SUVs, which are in most cases, more harmful to the environment, and have taken the joy out of driving, have contributed to the end of production of such a fine car as the Commodore VF2.Purchased in January 2021.

Great v6
I have had about 11 cars in 18 years - all from different makers, from Hiunday to Ford, to Renault and Kia - all sports cars. My partner’s had Holdens before. I never did. I really enjoy driving my SW and forget there is a V6 under the bonnet. The dealership was pretty good too and not too pushy.

Great Big Australian
I purchased the last of the Australian built SV6 Commodore Wagon. I love this car so much and still look forward to my 30min drive to work each day. The quality is excellent and the amount of tech astounded me. This car self parks (thought I wouldn’t use it but I do) auto headlights and great sound system and Sat nav. Such a shame we don’t build in Australia anymore. My last Aussie built car was a 1967 HR Premier i used back in the 70’s. On average its sitting on 9.4 L per 100km so not bad for a great big Australian.

Get what you pay for
Car drives well. Handling is good. Road noise is average. Interior doesn't differ too much from the ve and is starting to look a bit dated already. Bluetooth is a nice function. Econony is right on what you would expect. Overall the car is fine without being fantastic. Good value for money

Very pleased
This is my seventh Holden and I have never had any problems with any of them. I bought it second hand one year old. Our family has owned many different makes and models and I rate this the the best car I have owned. It is quiet on the road, handles well and is comfortable. I use it mainly for long trips and it is surprisingly economical for a big car. Only thing I have had replaced was a broken dust seal around the latch on the tailgate and this was done under warranty. Capped servicing is reasonable compared with other cars I have compared it with. Pity it is the last of the rear drive Aussie cars.

why is Lpg not popular any more
Just went back to owning a Commodore wagon. I had a Mitsubishi triton diesel for about 7 years, I got fed up with the running costs especially when diesel hit $1.59 a litre, service costs, and it needed a new set of injectors. (4-5 thousand) I bought an ex government Commodore Lpg wagon. Brilliant car, heaps of extras on the basic model, 650ks to a tank around town, I can almost drive to Sydney for a tank of gas, eat your heart out Tesla.

The worst of Australian cars
I had one of these for 4 years as a work car from band new, possibly one the worst cars I had the misfortune of having to drive for 4 years! every possible failure you can think of, gearbox, engine, starter, battery, diffs, it was always going back to Holden to be fixed, it even locked me out once when it the central locking system failed. Fuel system failures, water pumps, this thing was a total lemon!! The interior felt like it was put together by 3 different teams that didnt talk to each other, MISH mash of clashing styles and the cheapest plastics I have seen, this thing had rattles, and squeaks that drove me mad. When it finally went back to be sold at 80,000 the engine overheated.

Work vehicle
This vehicle is like driving a boat, but overall it's not bad, given that it's a work vehicle. The vehicle is quite responsive, and even though it feels a little heavy, it's a smooth drive. I like the safety features included in the vehicle that I use, too. Rear-view camera and senses (may be across all types). Either way a very reliable vehicle!

Love my VF SS Storm
Cannot fault my 2015 SS VF1 Storm Wagon! I love it so much, drives great even with Pedders Coilovers. It has a black out kit, 20inch HSV blackout rims, 2.5inch Cat back exhaust, Cold Air Intake, Gearbox shifter - makes it look amazing and sound amazing. All the tech in it is great also, touch screen, bluetooth etc. I went from a SV6 wagon and im surprised at the little difference in fuel usage. For the price as well you cant go wrong - wish they were still making HSV as i would of eventually upgraded to a R8 Clubsport wagon!

Large family wagon with great basic features.
I bought the 2015 Evoke wagon with factory fitted LPG. It's huge inside, comfortably seating 5 adults. 2 large dogs fit in the back, even with the spare tyre fitted (lpg model uses spare tyre well for the lpg so spare sits in a cage with a carpet cover in the boot).
For such a spacious vehicle, it is light to drive and the same size as the sedan. It's very quiet inside at low and high speeds.
I bought the model that includes reversing camera, park assist and sports transmission. Surprisingly GPS was not fitted and needs the 'chip' installed. ...Read more

Awesome car for the last of the commodore
I have been lucky to have experienced 3 commodores for work vehicles, 1st one was 2010 VE Omega 3.0l v6 sedan, which was basic and lethargic on acceleration. 2nd was 2013 VF Evoke Sedan 3.0l which was a big setup from the VE model and an fantastic car.
But now the 2017 Holden Commodore SV6 3.6l Wagon is awesome. GPS is standard on 2017 SV6 model. What surprised me is the sedan vs wagon overall length is actually about 30mm shorter than the sedan.
It has much more grunt with the 3.6L vs 3.0l in the evoke models, suspension is firm but ni...Read more
ce except with 5 adults the rear suspension is a little harsh over bumps as it does not soak up the bumps. Tows very well with heavy load of around 1750 kilos. heads up display is great. Highly recommend as Holden have really left us with the best Australian version of the Commodore..Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Shame this is the end of these cars
This suits me and family so well, I don't know what I will buy now. I own 2 of these. Safety, space, handling, ride, performance and so cheap to own. Yes the fuel economy is not as good as a Corolla or a Prius (or any other dull car) but so much more enjoyment and value.

wonderful, wonderful car. Goes how you want a vehicle to go.
Purchased this vehicle in 2016 as a low km demo model from a well known Holden Dealership. Cannot fault the car which is a station wagon on dedicated gas. It has now down over 60,000 km and still going strong. The road holding of this vehicle is without parallel amongst some of the best in any car i have driven. The interior is excellent and very quiet. I am still on the original tyres and other than two minor services and one major service (log book service) the car has been without issue. The climate control air condition works super efficient on even the hottest day and even without the air con on, there are plenty of options to get fresh air into the vehicle. At the end of the day, it is a safe, reliable and enjoyable vehicle to drive.

Great family car
Great on Kilometres. I've had a Holden Commodore previous to this one. Best features are the Cruise Control, great boot space. The dash is electonic helping me track speeds easily. I can also answer any incoming calls quickly and easily. The stereo is hooked up to bluetooth so I can listen to radio or iphone tunes. Excellent Braking system and loads of window wiper options for rainy days. The demister works very quickly clearing the windscreen for driving. Good miles and excellent on fuel consumption. A good go anywhere family car. Love the shape too, very sporty.

I love my SV6 Sportswagon! (love at first sight)
Before you call me a one eyed Holden nut, lets get one thing straight. Until 2014 I totally ignored Holden and wrote off Commodores as rough unrefined Boganmobiles (I now regret my ignorance).
I've named her Holly, because of the Regal Peacock paint (dark green) and having a gorgeous accent (female voice) for the voice command. Voice command for dialing phone numbers, issuing Sat nav commands, etc. works great by the way. She was given to me as a company car with my previous employer. My previous Commodore drive was a VN / VR and VC which di...Read more
d not impress so hence my flaw in judging a brand on a previous experience! Having moved from a Daewoo and Suzuki Swift small car I could not miss the level of refinement, comfort, performance and street presence this car has! Winding the clock forward 14 months the employer I worked for folded up and I decided I could not leave Holly behind! Financially it made a lot of sense to buy her out for $31K (was $43K optioned up) at only 18 months old. I have ridden in some upmarket cars such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, etc. in the past and I still cannot get over how Holden have made such a rewarding and relatively refined car to drive for such a modest outlay. The one thing these overseas cars can't give you is the strong patriotic feeling you get driving something special that is Australian made. The 3.6 Litre V6 / 6 speed auto never disappoints for performance (and not bad an engine note) despite being a little thirsty for short drives in town (13/14 L/100KM) I've managed to get almost 900 KM on a tank interstate dipping into the low 7's / L100KM. However given the 1750 KG weight you can't have everything. That extra weight really help high speed cruising and surefooted road handling.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
