Accident Prone
I have a 2015 Holden Cruze Sri and the past 2 weeks my computer screen has been flicking off then coming back on again. It will also cut all of the power to my car and lock the steering wheel for a few secs before coming back on. When i bought the car this was an issue for 2 months. After returning it to dealership it was good with no glitches for 2 months until 2 weeks ago when it started up again. I noticed it happens when im connected to my bluetooth, aux, usb, playing radio or even just charging my phone. If i disconnect everything however...Read more
and turn the screen off, i dont experience this issue. But then i face the Steering Lock Column Issue when u try to turn my car back on zzz. I've asked Aunty Google and Uncle Youtube and they both spit out things about BCM replacement or fuse etc....help me!Purchased in April 2021 at CarGiants Jandakot, WA for $21,000.00.

Transmission is utter garbage
Had no idea about the disgusting reputation of the reliablity of this car before purchase, but that has since changed quite rapidly. After being sold a 2009 auto cruze lemon (with only 80,000kms), i will never touch a holden again. Dont just take my word, this shitbox has a plethora of problems that can be elaborated upon by brief internet searches.
NOTE: my vehicle needs a tranny replacement, costs $3800 aud.

Great Family Car
We have had our Cruze for almost 4yrs now and we still love it like the day we first bought it. Its been used for daily commute to work and up and down dirt roads with no dramas. We have put on well over 70,000km since purchasing and have had no major dramas with it. We get it serviced regularly to the service book recommendation and have had no major issues mechanically. One of the best cars I have owned and would happily buy another again if I had to!

Cooling system faults. Continuesly.
Have replaced the coolant system completely and some componants several times in two years. Also replaced the coil pack four times during this period. The car has been teken to several mechanics and auto electricians with good reputations and the same problems keep returning. Wouldn't recommend to anyone to ever consider purchasing a cruze.

I am worried
My MY13 Cruze Sriv manual hatch has been a great car! Love the look, love the interior. Great for a young woman.
I'm starting to get worried. Car has done almost 120k.
Concerns in order - window tint bubbled on rear and side window, plastic side mirror moulds had paint fade (replaced by Holden), recall on front diffuser, steering column lock warning 'Fixed' by holden after having my car for 2 days. Warning popped up as I started the car in the parking lot of Holden... so henceforth my doors lock, then auto unlock (apparently they're linked) ...Read more

I will never buy holden again!
I loved Holdens when I was younger and after owning many I have found design, construction and customer care of thier products over the past 20 years has declined dramaticly (since the VT models). I recently bought a second hand Cruze and I have all the same problems described by others and with only 75000km's on the odometer. It has been the worst life decision I have ever made and I'm glad I haven't thrown any money at it, Holden won't get another cent from me ever again. It is a discrace and the Australian government should make them account...Read more
able. A Mcdonalds Ice cream machine on a hot summer day is more reliable than my Holden Cruze. To cap it all off GM Motors took $265 million in subsidies from hard working Australian tax payers and then moved production offshore. It will be the happiest day of my life when General Motors stop selling cars in Australia. Sales have declined so much recently Holden have resorted to trying to offload their lemons through Maven rental cars which is a GM Holden company. A smart person would suggest they are ashamed of their own company name and are trying to hide behind a different name which is unethical and should be illegal. Kinda like when Holden decided to disguise a Korean made car with an Australian badge. SHAME ON YOU HOLDEN, I can't stress enough, do yourself a favour and save a lot of headache and money and NEVER EVER buy Holden!Purchased in December 2021 for $9,700.00.

Worst car owned
Missus owned this car, endless problems like everyone else. Finally transmission failed after 2 years of owning, paint fainted, endless electronic problems. Spent more to fix the car than it costs

Great run around car
3 years ago, we decided to buy ourselves a 2011 Holden Cruze SRi-V hatch that we came across when we were looking for a new car. As we already had a large car, we thought that a hatch would be perfect for us as long as there was room for all of us front and back. There was something about the Cruze that drew our attention. Although there were some negative owner reviews on Holden cruzes,we knew a few people that had them and they couldnt complain. We took our bet and bought the car, it was a great decision.
As we had the top spec SRi-V, it ca...Read more
me with all the goodies (although missing some modern features) such as heated seats, sports body kit, punchy turbo engine, sat nav and a touchscreen. It does miss out on a few things that most top spec rivals came with or were at least optional such as rear view camera, front parking sensors, dual climate control and rear air vents. This is just me being picky but would have loved to have seen these features at least optional for a car that around 30k when it was brand new. The cabin is a grit place to be with one of the biggest back seat space in the class, loads more than the Mazda 3 and Hyundai i30. Rear seat passengers have a centre armrest with cup holders but sadly no rear air vents. Front passengers also have loads of room and because the seats are quite low (height adjustable for both front seats) gives a rather sporty feeling. Generally, the inside of the car is a great place to be with little complaints from passengers and feels quite solid although a lot of the plastics are hard, but not as bad as the same model year of the Hyundai i30. Rear boot space is also above class average although with the sloping roof life, fitting tall things in may be difficult if youre unable to slide it in lying down. The engine most of the time is good with good feedback from the 1.4L turbo making 103kw of power. Engine works rather well with the 6 speed auto. If you plant your foot though, the car will definitely make some noise where the cabin becomes rather loud. In saying that, its best not to plant your foot as fuel consumption is already slightly above class average and dont be expecting to quite get the claimed fuel consumption. After 3 years of ownership, Ive been pretty happy with it but there are still some negatives. At just over 99,000km, the transmission had to be replaced but as it was under 100,000km, we worked with Holden who payed for tow trucks to deliver the car where it needed to be and then replaced the gearbox free of charge to us. This did nearly take a month before we got the car back and this was definitely the biggest problem we had encountered with the car. Some other small issues which are mainly cosmetic include fading on plastic mouldings around the mirrors which were ones black but have now turned a white colour and paint starting to show its age, even with the car garaged every night. Over three years and 45,000km (110k km currently), this car has really been a delight to own and even after all the negative stuff that mechanics have said about these cars, I cant complain and would recommend to others.Purchased in May 2021.

Worst Car Ever
Worst car ever. That’s not fair... I’ve only owned 10 cars and only driven about 100 so I could be biased? Basically, day 1 of buying it ... needed to have calipers and breaks replaced within a week. Within warranty, I had the transmission changed twice. 1 part goes, go to Holden... and next time a part that sits right next to that part goes. Clearly it’s pathetic engineering. What’s awesome is Holden plugs their computer in and says “the ECM is telling us it may be this, or it could also be (insert 50 other things)”. Grreeeaaaattt. Went to sel...Read more
l it, and no car dealership would give me any better than $2k trade in for a car that’s is road worthy and has only 90k on the clock!!! Avoid buying this car... I hope this saves someone a lot of hassles. What do I do now? Nail the bonnet shut and see how long it lasts ...Purchased in March 2021 for $18,000.00.

Holden Cruze JH
I have a 2013 holden Cruze hatch SRi2. Engine check light is on car runs fine, sometimes it turns off. But when I turn corners it jolts only sometimes . Doesn’t jolt any other time. Feels like driving with old Sparks and ignition coils but they were changed about a month ago.. Not to sure what’s making it jolt around corners?

Expensive repairs
My daughter bought one a year ago 1.6 turbo auto. Originally it drove well, then 10 mths later at 150k it had a few coolant leaks and codes coming up, due to leaks being hard to get to ie removing the turbo and manifold etc water pump leak and timing belt, thermostat code on along with other issues the mechanic bill was quoted at $4300 parts and labour. We traded the car in asap as she couldn't afford the repairs. Before the issues it drove well and had plenty of power it was still driving ok when traded but those upcoming repairs blew us away.
Purchased in May 2021 for $7,200.00.

Holden Cruze - poorly designed
Pros:
- Great breaking, has emergency breaks.
- Has a good interior design, comfy seats, buttons on wheel, nice screen, good speakers.
- Good boot size
Cons:
Terrible. Horrible design.
- Slow to accelerate, lacks power...Read more
- Gear Shifting ia horrible! Auto changes gears to the wrong gear, e.g. it jumps from 3rd to 5th when it's meant to be in 3rd then jumps back. - No back windscreen wiper... Why! - Mine shuts down if it doesn't get logbook serviced on the service kms, e.g. 60,000, and 75,0000 etc. - The wheels rubs against the body when you turn full lock, and they are average sized wheels. - There is a plastic piece below the car that is attached to the fuel line! If a rock hits it, the fuel line will be destroyed and the WHOLE fuel line will need to replaced. They are hard to find and have to be ordered from over seas... what a poor design!Purchased in January 2021 for $12,600.00.

The biggest SHAME of Holden
Purchased second hand in January 2018 $16,500 still with warranty worked OK until 90,000Km came up in September from then until now April 2022 the car has been off the road for more than 10 weeks in total, Holden denied a warranty claim 100,251Km on the clock and was still the same issue "loss of power" and would go into emergency/care mode, the computer codes always the same, we replaced the cylinder head in December after going nowhere, the dealer coughed up for the majority but it still cost us and the car had been off the road since October...Read more
after being supposedly repaired on 3 occasions, its now off the road again because the computer says its overheating and the car stops this has been fixed twice and still happening give it a rest for 5 minutes after travelling 10kms then it goes again and then car could go all day. Have traded in for $4,000, NRMA will be happy after umpteen call-outs. Will never buy another Holden after our experience with their head office couldn't fault the dealership but Holden!!! My advice if they look nice in the dealers yard leave them there don't buy one!!Purchased in January 2021 at Holden Dealers.

Tyres and brake rotors worn out at 50000kms
I bought new a Holden Cruze 2013 1.4L SR1 6 speeds manual, serviced regularly at Holden dealer until I went to NRMA for a rego check at 50817Kms. I only use the car by myself only, never been loaded, I am one of the least on the road, car used mostly for shopping, had few things replaced by the dealer like water pump...was a leak...camshaft seals....was a leak...but okay...sun visor fell down, but NRMA mechanic showed me for the rego that the 4 tyres needs replacing, effectively desintegrating well before been worn out! ...and all brake rotors ...Read more
will have to be replaced next time will do the brakes, fairly worn out. I am motor mechanic and checked for myself and yes indeed, it is true. I suspect the quality of the vehicle has been a bit neglected, including the ignition key rubber which also disintegrated after only 4 years of service...I wonder how long this spot on good looking car would last under normal amount of kms and diving like many braking on the last moment coming from a much higher speed.....probably replacing all the tyres and all brake rotors and more at around 30000kms......Holden has room to improve the quality if they want people to continue buying their vehicles.Purchased in April 2021 for $25,000.00.

Do not buy Holden
Purchased for an owner when clocked at 60000km and now done 115000k. Have had issues from the very 1st month. My friend says that his bmw maintenance would cost less than the cruze. Same issues like every other here. Auto transmission, coolant oil mix, head gasket blown, error codes etc.. Most of the mechanics I went to suggested me not to buy Holden ever!
