Sorry E10 fuel.

No it won’t harm it.

Just fill with 95 Caltex vortex or bp ultimate 95. Always use good quality fuel 95 is better than 91

Perhaps the best idea may be to top it off with 98 ron and gently drive until normal

The camera has always worked in reverse but it’s quality is very poor and is even worse in wet weather. Our Toyota and Mazda which were quite a few years older had far better cameras than our new Honda.

Why would my brake assist activate intermittently when there is no car in front of me, pulls me up suddenly on major road? Has anyone else experienced this in recent model Honda HRV??

I have a 2018 model HR-V S I do not have that problem, I wonder if I will ?. I WOULD have it straight back to HONDA ASAP,.

Haven’t had this problem, however I’d return to Honda for rectification immediately.

It’s with Honda at the moment but they don’t seem clear as to what’s causing it. I’m keen to know if any one else has experienced this problem & what was done to fix it, or even if it can be fixed. It’s clearly very dangerous when the car pulls up suddenly on a highway!

Could anyone tell me how to turn the radio off on my new 2018 HRV VTis? There doesn't seem to be an on/off switch and I am mystified. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

on the right hand side of the unit there are two <> arrows up to increase and the other to decrease to OFF Not very good with the sun on the unit and reaching out and it seems to difficult for the passenger to operate. I find my self using the mode button on the steering wheel Either to drop the sound right down or the centre mode button to change the setting to HDMI or another mode that dosent have sound . It is without doubt the most inefficient unit I have ever come across. I would like to get rid of the constantly coming on TICK warning notice. I wouldn't have bought this car if I had known about this :entertainment ?? System.. who can use it with the sun streaming in and blanking the screen. The Mazda 3 has a much much much better system ;

I can’t find the on/off button, I’ve had to use the source button to turn it off. Another poorly thought out feature.

I’ve found out that you just need to push the button and keep it down for a while to turn the radio off. Now I can’t figure how to change the time on the clock!

I don't think is possible he compressor runs with the engine. You ca run the fan by pressing start without the brake pedal to enter accessory mode

How do people find the screen navigation etc. Mine is pathetic in sunshine and quite dangerous. What do others think?

Yes I agree. I find the whole system to be inadequate for a new car. I doubt it is even fit for purpose. I am still pursuing this with Honda Australia

I chatted to Honda and they asked me to take my car in but its a fault with the system not the car I have place a hood over the screen and it at least makes the screen able to be read, but the touch screen is appalling. Lets know if you get anywhere with Honda.

I have a similar problem with my 2017 HRV. On a sunny day the satnav screen is nearly impossible to see because of sun glare. It amazes me that the Honda designers got something as basic as the angle of the screen wrong. It should be nearly vertical. I have tried placing a cowling over the screen but looks very tacky on a near new car. Also agree about the cheap touch screen. I have no problem with the one in my Accord but I usually need to touch, jab and/or hold it multiple times in the HRV to activate the required icon. The only one I don't have trouble with is the initial safety warning OK.

I purchased my Honda HRV in 2018 brand new, have only driven 3000ks but have find it unnerving as it wanders from left to right while driving in a straight line, while I continually have to adjust the steering. Not a very relaxing experience.

There is definately something wrong with your car. I don't have anything like this on a similar km vehicle. Have you checked that a brake caliper is not binding. Effected wheel will be very hot to.touch if it is.

I have never had this experience in over 60 years of driving & I have no advanced engineering or vehicle mechanical knowledge, but as very dangerous you should book the vehicle in urgently to your Honda dealer for warranty inspection to have repaired & corrected.

No I don't have this problem but we've only done 5000 km. Still battling with Honda over the Sat Nav though I was promised a software upgrade in October!
UPDATE. I started having this problem whilst away travelling. Then my windscreen cracked. I don't think was related?? The screen was replaced under insurance but had to go to the dealer for recalibraton of sensors. I mentioned the rattle.. The technician said the plastic cover deforms over time (heat). This was replaced with the screen, problem solved. I expect this may happen again, if so it will be back as a warranty claim for poor material or design. Talk to your dealer as it is a known issue.

No my friend had a persistent squeak and it took a few visits to get it fixed. HATE THE ENTERTAINMENT OR SAT NAV who would put such a shitty unit in ANY MOTOR CAR this is ? has cost a lot of sales even friends I know hear all about it. the Mazda has a great unit.

Michael W
Michael W

Re the rattle. I have that problem and it turned out to be the plastic cover on the outside of the windscreen covering the base of the wiper blades etc. Honda replaced mine and it has started to rattle again. To test if it is that use wide black cloth tape and tape it to the windscreen. If the rattle has stopped then that is your rattle.

HR-V 2015 Release (2015-2020)

I purchased a new 2017 HRV last week after careful consideration of the various smaller SUVs on the market. I previously had been driving a Honda Euro SAT NAV Luxury that I purchased brand new about 10 years ago.
so I have been spoilt with a 6 stacker CD player,
So far I feel I have made the right decision. The vehicle runs like a dream despite the new wave transmission.
However, I am mystified by the sound system that allegedly allows an IPOD to play on there delivering all relevant musical info on the screen according to the booklet. This does not happen. It doesn't recognise that a device has even been plugged in. I can use a cable from the headset outlet & plug it into an Aux input & it will play but no info of details on screen and can only be switched off on the IPod.

Also is it possible to play the radio etc with the engine switched off?
Can any of the much more technically minded than I throw few clues my way??
Thank you all in advance.
Pete

I haven't yet set up my iPod, will report back when I do. The radio operates with engine off. You need to do a single press on the start button without brake press to go to accessory mode. I think it will still switch off after about 10 minutes

Thank you so much for your response. I certainly have learnt a lot more since l wrote the question. The radio is very poor compared with the Euro. But considering what they play, that is a blessing in disguise. I am a tech dumbo re the phone but somewhere along the line l will figure it out. As it is the US is phasing out the IPOD anyway. Guess the current l phones can hold a lot of songs. On another issue, the HRV is still a great buy. Peninsula Honda are Magic Dealers. Thank you So much again for your response

Hi Alana. There are actually issues at times with setting up the AC, you are right. At times they don't seem to cool, however, that doesn't mean that they are faulty. Ensure AC is on by tapping it and adjusting the temperature accordingly. Hope this helped.

Hi, I have my temp on low (which is the lowest) and fan on the highest speed and it still isn't as cool as other cars I've been in or owned. I've tried auto mode and still not as cool as I think it should be. It's a pity because I love the car and would buy one again.

Wendy

I feel like this has been a major thing holding me back from purchasing a HRV too. Living in Queensland, not having sufficient aircon would be equivalent to purchasing a car with no seatbelts (stupid!).
When I test drove one, it was the beginning of winter and a cooler day... but i noticed that there was not vents in the back - and perhaps the lack of air con is due to the low power that this car produces? For me, I don't need a powerful car under foot... but I do need decent air con!
I'm hoping maybe this might have been rectified in the 2022 model?

Has anyone towed a trailer with the current model HRV? I occasionally need to tow a 6x4 trailer + motorbike, so 450-500kg's total, within its meagre tow rating. Does it struggle or affect the CVT operation?
Has anyone tried to fit a full sized spare in the wheel well, it looks to be nearly deep enough when the foam packing is removed.
Thanks

Looks like no-one tows anything with a HRV, decided not to buy one as after several test drives I found the engine/CVT combo a little dull, 1.8mpfi engine was great back in yr 2000 - but its 2018 now. The LCD screen is hard to see in sunshine, GPS via phone not so good, no DAB - how much does this cost! no apple car/android auto, same CVT as the jazz, annoying big box behind the rear view mirror. I think they are a bit over priced at the VTiL spec when compared to a top spec Jazz, and really that's what it is, a jacked up jazz for lots more dollars, magic seats are great though and I'm sure they will be very reliable.

Hi. Can anyone say what external mirror controls are available. For example with the Mitsi colt plus, the mirrors can be retracted by a switch inside the car or 3 clicks on the lock button of the key will retract the mirrors. They can be extracted by switch, key or automatically when the car is going 30km/hr.
What can the HRV do in this department?

They have a button/switch on the driver arm rest that you push when you are stopped to bring the side mirrors in, after starting car push button again to put mirrors out

Ours does in between 7 & 8 which I'm pretty happy with. That's half traffic half freeway. Cost me $44 to fill it last week lol.

Hope that helps :)

Living in a regional centre of NSW being near the border of QLD, my fuel for the HRV is between 7 to 8.5 litres per 100kms with limited traffic snarls, however my driving habit is a leaded foot, yet with my CRV, I'm in the 9 - 10 litres per 100kms.

Hi Marie,

We do a fairly mixed cycle of highway and city driving, and get about eight. However, we have done the Sydney to brisbane trip a couple of times and got exceptional return in the low sixes fully loaded with the son dogs and luggage. I did notice that I got better consumption driving than on cruise control
