Ive just brought a Honda UMS425, i had the shop guy start it for be before taking it home. It started first go. But i noticed a bead of oil run along the engine. Wasn't coming from the oil dip stick. The guy said thats normal ????
Is it light enough for a lady 2 use
It’s not light however, you can buy a shoulder strap to reduce the weight on your arms/shoulders. Go into a store and try it. That’s what I’d recommend.
Not sure if my terminology is correct but my Honda UMS425U is almost brand new I’ve only used it five times but now when I start trimming it seems to pop out of gear and the head stops spinning. The throttle still revs and I can hear something spinning inside but the head doesn’t spin. It’s like revving a car in beaut ram and I can’t seem to get it back in gear.
My Honda ums425u,won’t pull over.lt is jammed.Any suggestions to the problem?
what diameter nylon line is used on a UMS425U
2.4mm, judging by the two 10 cm strands which were poking out of the head of my recently gifted trimmer. I've read all the technical literature which came with it- absolutely no mention of the twine ...

My trimmer does not start I have changed the spark plug
Not sure what your question is.... are you looking for what next steps? If it is new, I would suggest taking it back to where you bought it, if it is older, I would suggest taking it to a mower shop f...
Read moreor a service. Just a few trouble-shooting ideas: If it has sat in the garage for a long time, add some fresh petrol (new from the petrol station, not more old fuel, as it can go "bad"), make sure the on/off switch is set to On, make sure you have primed a few times, and the choke lever is set correctly. Other than that, if those ideas don't work, get it serviced. What size line is recommended for Honda 425/u
Yes but is your answer credible? What was your source? The problem is common: Just today I was gifted a new out-of-the-sealed box UMS425U. First task: Read all the paperwork from front to back- 10 tim...
Read morees! And then it dawned on me: there was NO mention of the trimmer line size. So I'll take the remnant line that came with the unit to my dealer and ask, 'Please Sir, I want some more!' That's just terrific. Honda's Quality Control has stuffed up.Thanks for that. The response was the one I received from Honda's support team when I rang to ask them the same question.
My UMS425 will not idle. It runs fine but as soon as I let off the throttle it stops. Have pulled apart the air filter body from the carby in case the O ring seal had cracked or deteriorated but was fine. Getting new spark plug to try but an outside chance it is that. I use 95 grade petrol. Have replaced fuel lines and filter. Adjusted the throttle to correct free play but still stops. Only if I adjust throttle so no free play adn at higher revs will it not stop. Any ideas!
The needle on the rotary valve of the carburetor needs to be adjusted, most likely out (anticlockwise) as it seems like it may be running lean on idle. This often happens when the internal carby parts...
Read more harden from E10 fuel, or it is an older machine. Later model machines require a specialised tool to do the adjustment, most mower shops toss the carby and fit a new one as adjusting correctly is a specialised skill. Thanks Craig, I was thinking of replacing the carby. Quite cheap on EBay but gave it one last go as I was getting annoyed with the grassy edges. I readjusted the throttle cable ignoring the 1~3mm idle...
Read more free-play and low and behold it started idling. I added about 10% Metho to the tank to deal with the methanol residue and so far so good and will continue doing this for a while. If this occurs again a new carby is on the cards. Cheerswhat is the difference between UMS425 and UMS425U models? Can't seem to find answers online.
The line is automatically releasing from the spool & winding itself around the outside of the cutting head. I have tried rewinding but does not help. The cutting head is the original that came with the trimmer. This happens with both the 3mm twist line & the 2.4mm round line. Both these lines worked well previously.
this happened to me the first time i reloaded the line,I had wound the line on back to front.Wind it on in the right direction and no problems.
