Far from as good as I expected
I purchased one of these CL40PM Honeywell units and was impressed by the data on the box.
My intention for this unit was to cool my dogs that are outside dogs.
They have a nice covered outside area with a large pergola with a kennel as well but when the temperatures reaches 35 to 45 it needs more than a cover to cool the area down.
I would enclose an area of aprox 10m2 under the pergola and use this unit too cool it down.
It works reasonably well if left on full speed (setting 3) but after just 2 years and a bit the motor failed. (2 years warra...

Unit looks like brand new but as I said the fan motor died during our last extreme heat wave here in Adelaide. I have never had a unit before were the motor has failed so that was a bit of a disappointment. To make it even worse, I have had no success finding spare parts in Australia. US sells motors for around $69US but by the time you get it shipped to Australia, if you can get them to ship it, the replacement cost is not worth it.

Good swamp cooler
This unit has a 40l water tank and can use the whole lot in a day easily. That's a good thing as that's what keeps you cool. There is a hose attachment for a permanent connection. It cools best on 32C - 36C days with low humidity, hotter than that I have to turn on the AC. Power use is 140w, compared to my split system which is 11,500w, with electricity at over 30c/kwh you can see the attraction. It is noisy. It's also great for our indoor/outdoor space as it's on rollers

Could you please advise on you low humidity 32 degree days just how much it actually lowered the temperature? I have bought a cheap one and, althought the membrane is wet, it does not lower the temperature a single degree. Relative humidity was 35%
i am sure these type of coolers do not lower the temp much i think your body feels cooler because the of the slightly cooler air hitting your skin
