Great appliance
We have had the 2014 Santa Fe Highlander for a few months now, it is an Arabian Mocca with beige leather interior and currently has 2200kms on the clock.
Especially in this version and color scheme the "Fe" looks and feels as upmarket as any luxury Japanese product, dare I say Infiniti and even Lexus.
There is not much more to wish for, perhaps a dvd player or electric tail gate, but the standard 4 heated seats and panoramic roof illustrate this.
What we like, powerful and frugal engine, albeit a bit audible under Brisbane's up and ...Read more
down roads. On the express way is a top performer, quiet and comfortable, with great overtaking and merging capability. We also like space and practicality. Full stop. What do not like, seemingly simple functionalities, like 3 row access, sunroof operation, missing clock and unexplainable musical tunes. The "goodbye and hello tune" can be switched off. Koreans love this stuff, I know, I've lived there.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
2013 Sante Fe Highlander
$57,000 car - poor quality.
Failed to start on various occasions (intermittent problem) over 6 months. Good power and cranking - but no ignition. Took it to authorised service centre - ignition wouldn't fault whilst there (total 5 days) so they couldn't find the cause as it needed to fualt whilst there.... They replaced a 'power board' but they were not certain that it is the cause.
Have had to replace the entire plastic flimsy external door moudlings on 3 occasions. The clips to the moulding break on the slightest contact the door makes with an external object and to fix, requiring replacement of the entire moulding, as the clips are moulded. $400 on each occasion. Ive noticed 5 other Sante Fes with missing door moudlings.

Hyundai Sanmat Fe GPS Irritations...
Hi
The Hyundai Santa Fe "2014 is a great car, ( I recently Purchased the Highlander) however, I really am not Impressed with the GPS..., for example, on approaching a junction with Red Light & Speed Camera's, I get an average 15 warning Beeps in advance....very very annoying, especially when the news comes on the radio, unfortunately you cannot change these settings without having to turn off the "Approach" setting completely...rendering the feature useless......then there’s the Audio with the Navigation......it works fine, but you can't adj...Read more

Yes I discovered this...the gps would be great if you could adjust the warning sequences..

2013, 2012 and 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe's - Problems
Before you read my review, I just want to say that, so far, both Hyundai and our local Hyundai Service Center have both been fantastic in trying to help us out with the issues our car/s have been having/had and I thank them both very much! I have loved all of our Santa Fe's (I cried when we had to give up the first one), but I especially love our current 2013 car - even with all of her problems.
Our current car, and our third Santa Fe is a 2013 Highlander which was bought brand new and 10 and a half months into its life, it has developed a ...Read more
"mystery" noise and a drop in power when you stop and then accelerate - just before it goes into 2nd gear. It started October last year and was very intermittent. 5 months later, it was happening all the time so obviously the problem got worse. In the beginning we took it to one of our local Hyundai service centres and they wrote the noise off as normal. As it got worse, we took it to another Hyundai service center and they acknowledged that there was a problem. They started investigating as they had never seen this problem before and were stumped. They brought in the "big boys" from Hyundai Tech and they were stumped too. Apart from small repairs such as resetting computer settings, etc, they decided to replace the transmission valve head - but no go. They then decided to put our car on a hoist with another Santa Fe next to it and they started from the exhaust pipe and worked their way to the front - swapping and replacing parts as they went. They ended up replacing the whole turbo. Yay! It was fixed........for about 2 weeks until the noise started happening again. They keep telling us it's safe to drive but I have my doubts because how can they say this with all certainty when they don't know what the problem is. I am now waiting for the Service Manager to call me back and let me know what is happening next. The saga continues..... Our first Santa Fe Elite (2010) was fine for 9 months before the brakes seized up one day and it was not able to be driven. Miraculously, a short while later, it was fine again but was taken to Service Center to be looked at anyway. Apparently it was a loose connection. Everything was good until a week later when the brakes seized up again and the car had to be hauled up onto a tow truck and delivered to the Service Center again. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but a part had to be ordered from Korea and my car was off the road for 2 weeks. The brakes were fine after that. Then we noticed a strange noise coming from the underside of the car which turned out to be something with the drive shafts which needed to be replaced. Then.... Guess what!?!? We started getting lights intermittently flashing up on the dash - the ESP and stability control lights. Back into repairs. They tried everything from checking the connections to rewiring the system. Still happening. By this time we had enough and ended up trading her in...... .....for another, and our second Hyundai Santa Fe 2012 model (old shape) Highlander - not knowing a new model was coming out. Buying that was a debacle in itself (but that was the dealership). That one ran fantastically for the 6 months we had her before upgrading to the new model. The reason we got a second Santa Fe after the first car was because everyone was recommending them (including a friend high up in the NRMA). Dud cars happen and we couldn't be that unlucky as to get another one could we?? We did.5 comments
Hi Miss Nat, Sorry to hear about your car problems. I will advise that you look into your consumer rights and educate yourself on the options open to you. This is in no way legal advice, but by the so... Read more
unds of it you have what could be classified as a Major Failure with your vehicle which if determined would entitled you to certain consumer rights, one of which would be a complete refund of the purchase price of your vehicle. Just type consumer rights into google and start reading, it will open your eyes to many things. www.accc.gov.au (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) is a good place to start, look under the cumsumers tab. Don't accept things as they are, you have rights, stand up for them!Hi Scotty74, thank you so very much for that advice. I am looking into our options for refund/replacement but I am giving Hyundai one more chance at fixing the problem. After the turbo was replaced,... Read more
the noise came back 2 weeks later but much softer and much more intermittent than before - almost like it went back to the beginning when the problem first started. I contacted the service center and basically they said to me to try and get the problem noise worse by driving more and then it will be easier for them to diagnose. They think it could be the intercooler and the hoses that come off that. Apparently its a big job and they have left it till last as they could be working on the car for days - searching, replacing, test driving (this part is the most time consuming as the problem only happens when the engine is hot and they need to cool it down before they are able to work on the car again). The noise seems worse after long distance driving and after three 130km trips, there is a noticeable difference and worsening of both noise and loss of power. This is definitely going to be the last repair and I will pursue this further if it's not fixed because this is getting ridiculous. I think I have been more than patient!!Just an update..... Our Santa Fe was looked over by the Regional Hyundai Service manager and while he admitted himself that he is not mechanically minded, he diagnosed all our problems as purely a vi... Read more
bration in the exhaust, completely dismissing the drop in power, etc. Also, since then, we have not heard from the service center, even though they were supposed to call us in a few days after this to let us know the next course of action but I am presuming that they are sweeping the whole issue under the carpet. We can't really argue with this and frankly we couldn't be bothered fighting this so we are trading her in (after all it is nothing more than a vibration) and in a couple of months time we will be the proud owners of a 2014 Toyota Kluger. We are done with Hyundai for good.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Change for the better
Wife has just changed from a very unreliable 'luxury' car the BMW X5 to the Santa Fe Highlander. At half the cost of a replacement X5, with 80% of the luxury and with no intention of going to the speed limited 250kmh of the X5, the Santa Fe is ideal for the max 110-130kmh of real life driving in the city and highways. The previous service manager of BMW in the city looked at our low mileage X5 and suggested that we trade it in now before even more problems arise. He said that thats why people lease luxury cars for only 3 years and then change them. Hope to keep the Santa Fe for at least 7-8 years.

Great car 2013 Santa Fe highlander 2.2 turbo diesel
Excellent car. After we drove many different cars both suv, 4wd and sedans we settled on a new highlander it has everything you could ask for its more fuel efficient then our commodore we had.
It's comfortable for our family, drives great, feel safe and plenty of room. Good build quality inside and out, no rattle or squeaks, all panels line up and is all up a great car.
comfort, style, easy to drive and park, all the features

Did the 2017 hyundai santa fe higilander come with 5 years free servicing

I have a 2013 Santa Fe Highlander and have trouble with the air conditioner on long trips. After about 3hours travelling on highways, the air flow seems to be blocked, and what little air is detected is warm, not cool. If we stop for lunch, the air conditioner works fine again. Service checks can not replicate this problem. Sound familiar to anyone?

have u checked and changed the cabin filter behind the glove box
Thanks for answering my question Stephen. The car is being serviced next month (85K) so I will ask the dealership to check this.
We have recently had the same problem on a long trip. Changed the filter as suggested but didn't work. Took it to a mechanic who detected that the gas was low and after regassing problem solved. Has something to do with the low gas level causing the aircon to freeze which decreases the airflow. Hop that helps.
