Australian Upgrade disappointing
I have had my MC15000 for several years now and have been very happy. After a shaky start with the automatic needle threader Janome repaired and then replaced the needle threader. It doesn't work on #11 needles, which one generally uses for embroidery, but is faultless on purple needles. I miss the smaller hoops which were good for baby's clothes. The quilting features are also very good.
I bought the machine and it was upgraded to ver 2 for me. I later upgraded it myself to ver 2.11. Now this machine is being marketed as Horizon Quilt...Read more
Maker Memory Craft 15000. Owners of the earlier 15000 can upgrade to ver 3. Now here is the problem - the upgrade contains extra features in both embroidery and quilting and some new feet. Here in Australia it costs $499 for the upgrade as one has to take all the new feet as well. In the US and Canada the basic upgrade is free and is done by the dealer. It requires swapping over the p foot and 9mm foot holder and installing the software. Then they have an additional upgrade pack with the new feet and needle plate included. I only want to update my machine to use the embroidery features, I'm not interested in the ruler work etc at this time. I would prefer to buy any new feet as I require them. Given the cost of this machine, simple and basic upgrades should remain free. I have written to Janome but have not had a reply or acknowledgement of my email. It seems yet another instance of Australian consumers being treated differently to those in other countries.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
