A better choice than a throw away cup

published

I bought one for my partner as she gets coffee in the city a lot. It seems a lot more shops at fine with people bring their own now, wasn't really the case a couple of years ago. They are a little expensive but not using one is a bigger price to pay.

Like it, but now leaking

published

I've had my glass KeepCup for about 6 months. I really like it--both environmentally and because I don't like drink coffee out of paper or Styrofoam. Ick. However, it just started leaking. Annoying. I'm wondering if buying a new £3.50 lid will solve the problem. I've not seen anywhere that they offer to replace a faulty lid, so it can get pricey if it needs replacing twice a year.

KeepCup is Environmentally friendly and economical.

published

I bought my each of my family a KeepCup Original non-disposable take-away drink mug - either an 8oz or 12oz size. There are sizes to match the coffee machines for small, medium or large expresso coffees. Also suitable for other hot or cold drinks as provide insulation. These mugs are economical in that many retailers will give a discount if you bring your own mug. They are environmentally friendly as there is less rubbish to go into landfill or to use energy to recycle. They are sturdy, not fragile and the lids don't leak. They fit in the drink holders of cars. they come in a range of attractive colours. We all like our KeepCups and I would definitely buy again.

I like it

published

I got the glass KeepCup as a gift and I quite like it. It has the cork around the glass and a plastic lid. The lid does have a faint smell to it but it hasn't been enough to be offputting. It hasn't leaked and is holding up fine after almost 12 months.

Nice Little Travel Cup

I bought my plastic 8 Oz keepcup over a year ago. I've had no issues with leaking and it stays together pretty well. I like it and would buy again.

Leaky lid

published

I bought a plastic KeepCup a few months ago, and found that the lid was very leaky.
I don't know if mine is just a faulty one, but I cannot place it in my bag because it leaks as soon as it is tipped even slightly sideways. Not satisfied.

Lid alters the coffee taste and smells like hell!!

published

I was very excited when I first got this as I can go for a walk with the coffee brew from office. However, that excitement is long gone and now I hate this cup.
Firstly after few uses, the lid started to get really smelly. It's a very strong smell and will not go away no matter how hard you wash it. I even tried Sodium Bicarbonate to wash it. Leaving it soaked in there for a day or so.

Secondly, the lid alters the taste of the coffee really badly. Maybe the bad smell in there helps this as well. This ruins the whole coffee experience.

Contacted Keepcup support. No response yet. Not a good product. I have given up using the cup. Back to the normal mug now.

Thanks

Terrible

published

Foul smell after two uses and I always rinsed after I was finished. Had to throw it out because every time I used it, it smelled like the milk was off.

Glass to fragile.

published

After much research into the various re-usable cups I settled on a Keep Cup - Brew. The tempered glass version. Unfortunately it did not last long, I did not except it to be unbreakable but I did expect some durability. Very disappointed in the brand.

Fixing leaking cup by sanding

published

I had problems with my cup leaking. Like I said in a previous review, I tried boiling the lid to re-fit, which solved the problem temporarily, but that only worked for about three days, and then the leak came back. Then, I ran my finger over the glass, and found a very small bump in the glass. Although initially skeptical that such a small bump could be the problem, I bought some 120 grade glass sandpaper (90c from local hardware store), and smoothed it down. Took about 5 min of sanding. Resul! It hasn't leaked now for over a month. Very happy with the result.

Doesn't hold the heat

published

Coffee was cold before I knew it even though the cup was fairly hot to hold when I first got it - I hate cold coffee.

Rather disappointed in the cup and customer service!

published

Splurged on a cup as I am wholly with this idea of reuseable. Right from the start the cup had a chemical taste and smell possibly close to a plastic smell probably more from the lid than the cup. I tried different cafes and still the taste and smell was prevalent. Called Keepcup for advice but they said they hadn't heard that before and fobbed me off with 'it could be a dishwasher smell' I had only hand washed and then try a paste of bicarb and lemon juice overnight which I tried for 3 days it did make a little difference but was probably just masking the problem. Fed up I returned the cup for a refund. Was only trying to inform the company of a problem but am now put off this company by their attitude.

Coffee isn't right in another cup!

published

I bought the KeepCup Brew Band Glass 340ml Reusable Coffee Cup and i absolutely love it. The lid is easy to take off, and easy to put on yet still has enough suction to keep it snug on the glass tightly.
I love that the rubber band on the exterior keeps your hands safe from the hot coffee temperatures. We love the various colours offered - i loved it so much, i also purchased another one.
KeepCup customer service are fabulous as i emailed them about an older cup with faulty lid i purchased a while ago and they sent out a replacement lid quickly and no dramas.
I like that i can get the cup lid replaced etc

I love mine!

published

I have both the the Original and the Brew sort. I use them every day. Neither have leaked, either from the top plug bit or from under the lid. You just have to spend the extra second to make sure the lid is on properly. The fun colours are cheerful so it feels fun to drink out of too. People make comments on how cool they think it looks. Knowing I'm doing my bit to save the trees, and the environment is an added plus.

Leaks, leaks and leaks!!!

published

Leaks, leaks and leaks. I was using mine while out and about with a pram and it just constantly leaked (through the top of the lid) with the movement from the pram. Rather disappointed. Found an old Tupperware coffee cup in the house I now use that instead.

Doesn't leak and stylish - Updated 19 Oct 2018

published

I bought the original keep up years ago and it's never leaked. I recently tried frank green cup but it leaked! So I recently bought the glass keep cup mainly to be able to use the glass cup only (without lid) at home and if I need to have coffee to go I can just pop the lid on. its never leaked and I just love it.

Update 29/10/2018: I've since bought the new clear edition keep cup and its fabulous. Looks great and spill resistant. The range of colours has changed since the last time I bought my other keep cup. It fits well in my car cup holders and its really light. Also it is portable as it is not breakable either.

Useless! They leak.

published

These cups are useless.
They leak from under the rim of the lid.
I have had 2 and they both leak.
An almost unbelievable design flaw. I can't imagine what this company is thinking or how they stay in business.

Put the lid in the dishwasher to clean it now everytime I take a sip I get a bit of a funky smell that affects the smell of the coffee. Any tips on how to get rid of the smell?

I wouldn't recommend putting the lid in the dishwasher because the glue will come off over time that keeps the inside of the lid attached.

Wash it by hand ongoing, but I haven't had a strange smell from the lid from the times I had put it in the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the issue above occurred, so I hand-wash the lid now.
