It's a lemon. Don't buy it. 2001 model, gone less than 80,000kms and now dead. The infamous oil in coolant problem which KIA acknowledge is a defect and now refuse to fix. Currently fighting with them to fix it.

one out of ten. Would never buy another KIA again! Kia Australia don't offer any help if there is a problem. I'm still trying to get my auto transmission fixed after now 2.5 years and still not resolved!!!! DON'T BUY A KIA.....
Only positive thing about this car is the layout.
Motor and auto gear box is crap to say the least.

i reluctantly rate this car poorly, i was in love with my carnival until lo and behold same head problem as i have just read about 400 times, i wish people had known about back when i bought my 02 modle 2 years ago for 16000 + the usless $ 1400 warrenty which is nothing in the scheme of about 9000 when it only pays out 2000. i loved the sapce for my two babies and saved my back not having to lean over car seats. but i am looking for something else now and i will cut my losses because by the looks of things replacing the engine wont, as i was thinking, be any guarantee of reliability. RIP my carnival

Not happy with Kia's service department and the customer service manager. Office of fair trading were involved with no outcome from Kia. Will need to take it to higher court, but probably won't win over such a large company.
DON'T EVER BUY A KIA
We liked our LATE MODEL 2002 carnival for the firSt 50000km, good room for a family of 6.
handles fell off the two front doors, POOR INTERIOR Upholstery on seats
Engine block / camshaft failure at 50000km, which is going to cost $8500 to fix and we are still paying off the $32000 we paid for it in 2003!!

Very dissapointed in this people mover, the amount of money I have lost in just 3 years, and thats on reputation of the car only. My car has been completly serviced and looked after extremly well.
KIA themself are poor in the aftersale side
Size
Depreciation Brought in 2002 $35 000.00
Trade in 2005 $12 500.00
Engine warped block in may 2005,been back twice for leaking rear main seals
petrol drinks like a thirsty dog
Power lack of
After service by both KIA and Peter Donelly Campbelltown very poor to say the least

This is the first time our family has bought a kia and overall we are impressed. It is a very comfortable car and has a great ride.As a people mover it certainly beats our last one. Having seven in the vehicle is no problem and noone is squashed at all.
plenty of room
none found yet

if you can prove that he said that then you can sew the dealer directly for incorrect information supplied at time of sale, as no car of any make or model has a different motor whether its manual or auto, i would be absolutely furious.

Carnival KV (1999-2006)

Just replaced the idle air control valve on my 2004 Carnival LS. when I started it the motor ran smoothly. after about 2 mins it started to drop revs & miss so I removed the IAC & MAF connectors. This killed motor. I reconnected the two plugs then tried to start motor again but will not start. I have no taco or spark from the coils. I hope the repairs are not expensive as I can't afford it on the pension. Thank you in advance, Denis.
