I like Aldi but this does NOT hit the mark
Tried it for the first time. Unpleasant bitter aftertaste. What it provides in strength it lacks in complexity.
Purchased in for $11.99.

What's happened to a great coffee
Was buying this coffee from Aldi for a while. It always smelt so good. Then it changed. Now it smells stale. It has a bitter after taste. No longer recommended.

With the price I am giving it 5 stars.
I live in Melbourne I have tried a lot of coffee brands. I am making much more better coffee than some expensive specialty coffee brands!! Some how it’s always fresh, I guess they sell a lot and doesn’t stay at shelf long time

Disappointed with Lazzio
Have just bought Lazzio medium ground coffee and whether I make it in a plunger with one TSP or three, it still tastes like coloured water. Very disappointed which is unusual for an Also product.

Decent Bean - Pour Over
If you love saving money, need a caffeine hit and have a pour over set up. This bean is for you. Not too good in a plunger. Haven’t tried in a percolator.
Purchased for $7.99.

Loved it - what changed?
I’ve been using Lazzio coffee beans for the last 2 years and have been very happy with the flavour and price however the last 3 bags of medium/dark beans tasted terrible and the coffee even looks different. I threw all 3 bags away and tried the dark roast and it’s still not great. Unfortunately, something has definitely changed. I will have to find another option.

Not good at all - Burnt and Bitter
Dark roast tastes burnt and definitely not 100% Arabica as it lacks that true coffee taste - just bitter and burnt. Won't be buying it again will stick to Harris and Grinders which is well worth the extra $$$$

Lassio medium ground ‘Not as good as it was’
Been a fan for several months BUT the quality has changed and deteriorated. Noticing more bitterness and loss of flavour when using both AeroPress or Bialetti.
Going back to a +$23 coffee.

Nothing special
If you value taste & want good coffee. This blend isn't for you. Flavour is standard and isn't that great. Its quite weak as well. The low price reflects its quality.

Not as good as it was
I used to buy nothing but Lazzio coffee from Aldi. Then they put the price up. Then they introduced (more expensive) regional varieties. Then they introduced smaller more expensive regional varieties. This last offering is actually pretty good; but I'm pretty confident it was what you USED to get in the standard range at about $10 per 500gms. Essentially the quality has decreased constantly since it one a coffee of the year award; we are being misused as consumers.

Okay Coffee, Great Price
I bought Single Origin Nicaragua. Since I only drink short blacks there's no milk or sugar to disguise the flavour. Normally single origin has specific flavours that you can detect easily (blueberry, chocolate, etc) but there is none of that here - a generic, slightly stale coffee flavour. Still, it's the best supermarket coffee I've tried and I'll probably swap between local Roastery offerings and Lazzio purely for the price (less than half). This is definitely not great coffee - the 5 star reviews baffle me

Reliable coffee and amazing prices.
I've tried around 10 brands of coffee beans and settled on Lazzio.
It is at least the equal of all that I've tried, in taste, consistency and freshness.
It is also easily the most affordable.

Anyone worked out how to see brewing dates, my last batch says BEST BEFORE 11MAR 22 201211 does that mean brewed 11/12/20?
Campos, Sacred grounds and Daley St brands from Woolworths and any beans from reputable roasters have Roasted On dates. However check carefully at Woolies etc as I have found those good brands at leas...
Read moret 6 months from roasted on date. Stale already. Forget Use by dates. If the roaster is not prepared to say when roasted then forget them and pay a bit extra. for fresh roasted beans. Woolworths should be discounting those beans that are 3 months or more from Roasted On date. Thanks Wayne, I checked with Aldi & my code breaking was correct. If brought recently roasted the Aldi coffee is outstanding value 11-13$ kg and are a reasonable every day coffee esp when we go thru ...
Read more1kg every 2 days in my house. I must try Daley Street, whats their pricepoint? The coffee beans are amazing. are the farmers exploited for me to be able to buy them so cheaply
Because of international currency conversions, the dollars we pay, go a very long way where the beans are grown. We are doing these farmers justice and benefitting them by providing them with a job th...
Read moreey are good at, growing beans. Farmers would not sell us the beans unless it was to their own advantage. The best thing anyone can have in our world, is a healthy economy that provides prosperity and wages. Read more countries are much cheaper than those sourced here. So as we want people in our country to be paid a reasonable wage, we should want the same for those in the countries in which products are sourced. Also keep in mind that while a country's wages may seem low to us, so is their cost of living. It is relative and what's most important is not so much the amount of money one earns, but what that money can buy.I'm not going to get into the argument of whether we pay farmers enough (I don't believe we do) but for what it is worth, Lazzio is UTZ-certified.
I have been using Lazzio Dark Roast beans for a couple of years on my home espresso machine. The taste is great and so is the price and once I had tried it I never went back to more expensive brands I had tried before. Lazzio is stamped with a very long expiry date. I always choose the longest but maybe that is the wrong thing to do. Is there any way of estimating from that date an approximate roasting date?
My hunch is that it's packed in an Oxygen free atmosphere and that's why it lasts longer.
The beans with roasting date and extra freshness details are more boutique and therefore $$.
