Leaks like a baby
I was the happy owner of a Macpac Olympus tent for 20 years. After losing it I decided to buy another.
Unfortunately the Macpac company was sold on, and the new owners have reloacted construction of their tents to Vietnam, and are using a much lower quality tent floor. The old Macpac was fantasticly waterproof. I remember pitching on a field in a storm which the following day was a lake 4 inches deep the tent was powder dry. Very sadly those days are over, the new Macpac Olympus is hopelessly not waterproof. Even light rain and the inside of t...Read more

The only tent for me
Use this tent for wild camping in Scottish highlands and Lake District and has had everything thrown at it from vertical rain to gale force winds to winter camping in the snow and never worry about it collapsing or coming apart. Single person able to pitch this in dark, windy and rainy conditions while other gets a brew going. Good sized gear pockets inside which are appreciated when de-gearing. Had mine for years and still going strong and have not even thought about replacing it
Simple design. Very well. made easy to pitch in poor conditions. huge gear pockets.
smallish vestibles, single guys which block both enterances are a nuisance

We have had our Macpac Olympus (purple) for over 18 years (sleeping 2 adults, baby son and small dog no problem, back then). Only problem - it is stuffy and hot in summer (Australia). But now the floo... Read more
r seam tapes have come off and the fly is starting to show signs of wear - reasonable wear and tear - excellent tent. Apart from floor, it is still waterproof. We are considering having it re-sealed so we can continue using it. Two vestibules is good, however I would like a tent with larger door for easier exit! (New style tents have larger doors - but will they last as long?)I've had a Macpac Olympus for 15 years. I've used it for wild camping in the UK, Alpine climbing and as a Camp 4 tent in Yosemite.
I Find it large enough for a month for 1 person or ok for two people foe short periods of time.... Read more
in regards the size of the bell, I cook with an MSR inside the tent bell, and haven't burnt it down yet
There is some confusion here. The old olymus tents were excellent. They company however was sold, now the tents are made from a new much cheaper, lower quality material. They are no longer waterproof. ... Read more

Excellent
This is an amazing tent. It has got me through some very tough conditions. If you need a tent that you can rely on when the weather turns feral, this is it.
Tough: top of the the line: Reliable: No matter what the conditions, this will keep you dry and safe.
None, maybe I would like it lighter or be able to be packed smaller, I just gotta get fitter. LOL

What was your course of action from here? Did Macpac replace the tent, or offer you a refund?
