No good so far, won't start
Tried to download a manual for the GS-CEDD, but link doesn't work on Gentrax site, so relied on the Quick Start guide on the side panel. Nothing, zilch, nada. Followed instructions, left it for 5 minutes - Nothing, dead as a dodo. No smell of fules at the exhaust, went to check the spark plug but there's no way that I can get my hand in the inspection opening, I'd have to remove the whole cover to access anything, bloody poor design.
I've left queries with both the seller Outbaxcamping, and the maker, just waiting on a reply. If not satisfacto...Read more

gentrax generator junk
I received one 3.5 was doa no spark. than couldn't get outback to take it back. they had me doing endless mechanical checks, every time I sent a email I got a reply from a different person. I suggested I have a contact person in the company no joy there it got quiet ridulus and in the end I had to drop generator off at a transport company went I got there they new nothing about the return, more trouble for me . avoid this company is my advise. I just had to strip down the replacement geni to clean out blocked fuel tap to my surprise it is reaso...Read more
nably well made I also cleaned out the carbie while I was in there and like all cheap genies the fuel bowl and carbie martial was badly corroded. and i will have to find a wiring diagram on the internet for some other problems and to see if I plugged it all back together right as its not charging its little start battery. it is now running and putting out 240 power but I should of bought a Honda 2.2 kva as this think don't make 3.5 kva no way. and Honda has a dealer in any town bigger then a one pub town and a 4 year warranty. i must of been mad to by this thing December 25th 2022 Update: Why am I taking so much time to answer all these questions. y6ou keep sending me requests to answer the poor peoples problems buit when I chiack back a couple of weeks later my replies have disappeared, you ask in you emails to me please reply t5o these questions as it helps other people with similar concerns. I agree as this brand has many problem probably due to the seller not running the product prior to dispatch. many don't start due to no spark my advice to these people is demand a address to return item. as this will teach this company to pre deliver the genset prior to sending it. all proper company's do this you don't get any were near a Honda or Yamaha genset before it is pre delivered.,

best Generator ever!
had 4 Generators in the past. Last one was a Genforce GT6000. That one was very good as a back up power supply in my house in case of black outs. It did however not have electric start and was therefore hard to start for my wife. threfore sold it.
Bought the Getrax. Much better product. powers all my house at once - water pump, fridges lights etc.easy start . just amaizing product - cannot speak highly enough of it. A little noisier as the Genforce 6000 but what a buy! Does everything easily!
thanks and well done!

First problem lcd was blinking then fuels started to leak I had to send it back and at first they wanted me to pay transport even under warranty after a discussion they picked it up they send it back with one less remote and gave me a credit for the remote only in last couple of months I started using it and it started to rev really high and then just drop to a low idles so low it would shut off but after a while it would eventually run and now we have just noticed that fuel is leaking again from the bottom of the generator like my mum said you buy cheap you get cheap total piece of crap

Similar Problem on first use
Sorry to hear what have gone through, I experienced s similar problem on first use. Generator stops every 20 min and when open the fuel lid there was a vacuum built up inside. After a few tries I found out there is a small opening on the fuel lid to open when it is in use. Once I open it no problem, it worked like charm. I used it in a low light condition and did not have glasses to read instructions properly. It is a really good generator.

Works for me
Bought it on eBay, a bit confusing at first, pulled the cord started first time, then things got better, the electric start with remote, once again first start, but read the manual first, great generator and great price and great service, and very helpful staff when I rang up and pointed out that that I hadn't read the manual. Would definitely recommend it to anyone

Buy a proper Geni - not a Chinese one
Outbax camping as a company does not appear to me to be to be as it presents. I purchased a 3500W Gentrax remote start generator and our troubles started at that point. It did start and run on the test start at home. It was however to be used at my snowy mountains property as a back up generator to power a 1000W smart battery charger connected to my off grid battery system for when the sun did not shine on the solar panels and the wind did run the wind generators or when it was snowing in winter. 1000W should not be a big ask for a 3000W geni -...Read more
BUT IT WAS. Read to the end - you will want to know how to get them to take notice. Firstly it would not run for any length of time (running between 20mins and 1 hour only) and just cutting out. Seemed like a fuel problem. The first time I tried to check the fuel level (had only half filled it for first run) there was some sort of fuel lock/blockage and when I turned the cap fuel spurted over 12 inches into the air from the cap and covered the generator. I was not trying to fill it - just opening the cap on a non running geni to see the fuel level. It has no gauge and the smallest filler cap I have ever seen on a generator and I have owned 6 of various sizes. I do feel lucky I did not end up in the burns unit. After a week of this thing not running for more than an hour I gave up and brought it back to Sydney to return. That is when the fun started. They do not have a phone number to ring and are very slow to answer any email. Usually days. They tried over weeks to implicate me with questioning fuel types and filling techniques etc (I actually own 24 small motors all up - I know how to use and service them) and when I finally dropped the Geni at the warehouse (that was the most hap hazard mess shared with 2 non related companies) they took 2 weeks to inspect and finally admit it was a faulty product. Probably the fuel pump . Read other posts and you will find a commonality here. They try to hold on to the money like a monkey holding a peanut in a trap. I was always dealing with [name removed] as it seems others with issues have. Very unhelpful and hard to understand his emails. Maybe [name removed] is an adopted name. [name removed] did everything to stall and not refund the money until I threatened him with a small claims court action and sent him a copy of an ASIC company search ($9 online through ASIC) showing the Director’s name and address as well as the Parent Company named :- SMARTCHANNEL Pty Ltd and the Accountants address in Minto for service of court paperwork. The money was refunded.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great product
The generator is exactly what it says it is and produces the power that it says it can. It is quiet as stated and the economy function is great. In the past I have had big brand generators and so far this is as good as the big brand generators. I would recommend this product.

Excellent Generator works as advised
Very fast delivery and received within 4 days which was great considering it was the Christmas period. After reading instructions started 1st pull and ran like a dream. More than enough power which runs our Caravan Ibis 3 Airconditioner, a 35w battery charger and our microwave all at once without wavering. High recommends this product.

good product
Good generator which works well although i think a little noisier than stated. Great for camping as it will operate everything in our caravan. Starts well even from the first time although haven't yet tried it under full load. Quick service and delivery as it arrived before the stated date.

Starts easily, runs perfectly!!!
Generator due to arrive 2/1, arrived 29/12. Put oil in, fuel in and followed starting procedure. Started first pull. Subsequent starts - exactly the same results. So far, so good. Have used the 3KW generator with a 2400 watt 9 inch grinder without an issue. Haven't pushed it further than that so far.

works a treat
i put in the correct oil. i put in the correct fuel. pulled the starter cord ONCE only, and everything worked as it should.
- it is refreshing to know that some things manufactured in China, do work as intended.
i have no hesitations in recommending this product and ebay seller

Gentrax Generator
I have purchased 2 of these in the last 3 years. One for caravan and one as backup for our off grid home system.
I have found them to be extremely reliable, one unit on its 7th oil change. I have just purchased another for our next door friend since the storms last week left him without power for 3 days and he borrowed our caravan unit and was astounded that it could power his tv / fridges and lights all at once.

The right one
I didn't know where to start but after doing my homework I decided the 3.5kW unit would be right for my new 2kw portable air condioner in our camper bus and I was so glad I did, so easy to use and plenty of power when the air con switches on its compressor part.
It is also good looking and reasonably quiet. dual 15 amp sockets mean you can plug in the van plus anything that you might want to run while sitting outside like a big fan to blow the mozzies away, I don't need the 12 volts at the moment but who knows?
Delivery was quick as well, very happy indeed.

So Far So Good
I recently received a Gentrax 3.5kW inverter generator through the post. It arrived on time and apparenly undamaged. It was easy to set up and started as per the instructions. I have only used it twice and on both occasions it operated to my complete satisfaction. Only time will tell whether it was a good buy or not, however, so far so good.

Questions & Answers

What is the purpose of the ECON mode on the GS-CEDD 3.5kW model? The manual has no description of that control other than saying it should be OFF when starting. I assume it reduces fuel usage but under what circumstances? When should it be selected ON? What does the switch operate? A solenoid? Throttle setting? Fairy dust? No complaints about the generator performance. It starts first pull cold but curiously won't when hot unless the choke is on. Never struck an engine that needed choke hot. Economy is fantastic. In ECON mode powering 2 fridges and various battery chargers I got 8 hours on a full tank of 98 octane today in the aftermath of the Sydney storm power outage. The toaster makes it work harder for the short term but no evidence of the OVERLOAD light. I'd give it a very good rating, its noise level letting it down one mark. Its about 80dB 1 metre away from the exhaust when on light load, rising to about 84dB when powering a 1500W load.

I just purchased the 3.5 kVA generator. I filled it with oil and fuel. It took half an hour to start. I tried to start it again. It will not start. What can I do? I have checked the plug, it seems fine. It seems to flood every time. Even without the choke. Is there a nack to starting it?

When I received my 3.5kw generator,I followed all of the instructions (I'm mechanically literate) and attempted to start it. Nothing, not a burble. Changed all of the settings etc. Nothing, so I reset it to the instructions, said a rude word and left it until the next morning. Two pulls on the cord and it started straight away and I haven't had a minute's problem with it since. Did you unscrew the top of the petrol filler cap? There's a slight lift in the centre part when it's open. If it's closed it creates a vacuum in the tank and gravity feed to the carburettor will be overcome and no start. If no joy, do as I did, say a rude word and leave it overnight. Dave

You sell 2 3.5kva generators. One is around $500/$600 the other 3.5kva is between $800/$900. Could you advise the difference between the 2 please.
2 answers
It's quite obvious from the different power outputs, the lower power generator, 2.5kva will obviously be less expensive than the 3.5kva, which can run more 240V appliances.for instance,it will run a caravan air conditioner AND a microwave oven at the same time, the smaller unit cannot do this.the choice is yours depending on your requirements, however, they both weigh much the same.
Hi Dave you obviously misread my question. You sell 3 x 3.5 kva generators so what is the difference between them . One is between $500-600 and the other two are between $800-$900. What does the dearer ones have that makes them $300 more in price.
