Sell an item, wait 3 weeks to get paid. New policies in place at ebay...BEWARE!
Sell an item but don't sell 25 items a month, ebay will hold your funds for 21 days. In the meantime you are supposed to send the item using your own money for postage (too bad if large item with 200$ postage costs, you are out of pocket for 21 days). This is new policy that applies to every seller on ebay. Along with their ridiculously high fees, I recommend looking elsewhere at other marketplaces on internet to sell your goods unless you sell 25 items a month, every month. Miss 1 month and bam, every item you sell will end up with them holding funds. Just a ridiculous policy that made me after a decade on ebay, remove every item for sale and look elsewhere.

Money back "guarantee" is a hoax buyer beware
The money back guarantee is not a guarantee of your money back at all. If you fall for deceptive descriptions expect to lose your money because Ebay will not "guarantee" your money back, they sided with the seller in a case i opened where the seller did not describe the product accurately and claimed ignorance about the condition, although i doubt the seller was ignorant but was fraudulent . Apparently seller ignorance is an acceptable excuse and allow a seller to steal your money. One option is to only buy from sellers that accept returns, although very few do

Ebay are complicit in removing negative feedback
I purchased a firefighting pump with a Honda engine via eBay, when it arrived it had no serial number. After a long wait I got my money back but when I left feedback to warn other buyers eBay removed it.
If you are looking at buying anything Honda on eBay please check this website first.

Too many fake products protected by eBay!
I bought many products on eBay and 99% are fake or not usable. Rarely I got a refund. So I am done with eBay! eBay protects sellers and their fake cheap made in China products, not consumers! My last purchase was a laundry tap which arrived broken. Never got my money back! I did not open the box till the plumber was ready to fit it in as I did not suspect that anything can go wrong as the seller said there is the warranty for the tap. Usually, shops give 5 to 10 years warranty on taps. I did not suspect that household products are fake as they g...Read more
ive you protection and warranty! It is a big scam and eBay told me that it is allowed fake household items to be sold. What if your child drowns because they won't be able to close the tap?! I rang eBay, they couldn't care less, I rang Consumer Affairs they said it is "not fair" but couldn't do anything, I rang PayPal they said their money back warranty doesn't cover moneyback if items not fit for purpose exceed their 4 and a 1/2 months refund policy. So, another $50 went down the drain...learnt my lesson the hard way - No more eBAY!!!

Do not buy high value items above one month warranty from eBay
I bought an Apple i-phone 7 from eBay with description "Band new i phone with 1 year warranty AU stocks" for $480.
Then there were issues with phone when I took it to Apple store, noted phone is US stocks & sold 3 years a go in US. Hence Apple do not cover warranty.
Contacted seller & he do not respond. Contacted eBay & they walked away saying they cover only 1st month & they are not liable for sellers comments in eBay web site.
Do not recommend to buy high value items which has long term warranty since you will not able to claim warranty..
Also disappointing that eBay is not responsible for what is published in eBay site.

Expensive fees
I used ebay to sell my second hand items for at least 5 years but their fees in australia are abusive and expensive. Ebay us are cheap to use but in australia they charge you a 10% final price plus 3% to get a paypal payment ( paypal is currently owened by ebay too)
Dont waste your time with ebay, go for gumtree or facebook market. They are all free of charge

Ebay works for most things
Ive used Ebay now for years. I find buying beauty products very easy and saves money. Clothing is harder as if you are not sure of brands and sizing, its easy to get ripped off. Paypal best payment option and overall I am satisfied with Ebay. Postage very fast in my experience.

eBay Seller - Customer Service advice - variations?
Hi Guys
I have recently undergone a marriage breakdown - and my wife took out an order, now I cannot access my home or my eBay stocks.
I have continually updated eBay about this - and shut the Store etc, right down - been told that the issue was sorted - only to get billed again and again. Has anyone else had this happen?
Different Customer Support techs are giving different advice, NONE of which has actually helped? I DO want to re-open my Store shortly, otherwise, I would just shut down altogether in frustration?

Ebay Plus not worth it.
I was only persuaded to join & take a look because it wasn't going to cost anything, really - pay $49 fee & get a $50 Ebay gift voucher to spend. But it was, as I suspected, not at all worth joining. When you get 10% off, it's only off selected Ebay Plus sellers & often their prices are higher than other sellers on ebay, anyway. Plus they are giving $5 off min. spend $50 once a month off Ebay Plus members only - I really don't see the point. The free delivery is not on all Plus sellers or items, either. Free return is nice but I don't often return things so...meh.

eBAY ignores legitimate complaints
I purchased nine bougainvillea from an eBay seller and these plants are tough and sturdy but they all died. When they arrived from QLD, there was a stick and one or two leaves but I thought they would thrive once planted. Not the case and the seller stated that I had not followed their instructions in emails sent to me. This was not the case and I purchase plants online all the time with no issues previously. eBay ignored a legitimate complaint so buy elsewhere as there are plenty of other options these days. Expensive and you do not get value.

Does not care about sellers acts like it does.
Like PayPal, eBay own the monopoly in australia when it comes to the ecommerce world. The don't care about their sellers. Crap feedback and returns system, customer service is hopeless, I don't recommend this site.

eBay has gone down the hill protect bad sellers
oz_topshop ebay seller base in Brisbane is worst seller ever! Delayed shipping date, false tracking info, as they are top rated seller so eBay will do anything to help them remove negative feedbacks to protect them rather than buyers.
Buyers money guarantee is optional for them and you might not be able to leave negative feedback nor money back.

The Worst EBAY Seller
TopMarketonline are the WORST Ebay Sellers that Anybody could deal with
They Sell Mainly Media Players
Are are 100% not trustworthy & tell lies & avoid anything but the Truth
They Say one thing & then Makes up that many excuses & back out
They do not HONOR their Warranty (they give a 12 months Warranty & after the Product goes faulty, thy state it is over 90 days
I have every thing in Writing to prove it
Now EBAY are TRYING to rectify it,But As Usual, TopMarketonline do their Best on Making up excuses & try Backing out
Do not buy ant thing from TOPMARKETONLINE at EBAY
also their Partner on Ebay (under Separate Listing is Superteam2015) which is just as BAD.

For your own good, don not use eBay!!!
Trash!!! They suspended my account after I listed an item. Then, I contacted them via online chat (it took me more than 10 mins to have a person talk to me). I asked them the reason why my account was indefinitely suspended, the staff said: "Due to eBay policy, we cannot provide you with specific information"...Ridiculous, I was banned for no reason, specifically, for unknown or confidential reasons... You can see from my case that they can do anything to your account without letting you know the reasons. What's worse, when I tried to delete my...Read more
account, I found I couldn't close it because "Your account can't be closed at this time - unfortunately, we can't close your account yet, because it has been suspended, restricted, or is otherwise not meeting minimum seller standards. " huh, now I can neither reinstate my account nor close it. What a brilliant company! Now they can legally hold my privacy (address, PayPal account and credit card information) forever because I agreed on their unfair policy!!! Avoid this filthy company at all cost!!!Similar opinion? Buyers have all the power, sellers are treated like garbage!
After years of trying to sell and make some extra money on eBay, it's easy to see that whenever there's a problem, eBay won't help you as they simply don't care. Sellers are expected to follow their rules to the letter, yet scamming buyers, time wasters and false complainants are repeatedly allowed to get away with it and eBay does absolutely nothing.
I still can't work out why a buyer would openly place a bid on an item a week before it ends, yet when they win the item, they never pay, they never respond to invoices, they don't reply to email...Read more

Seriously flawed buyer "protection" program
I am extremely concerned by the inadequacy of eBay’s response a recent buyer protection claim I made, which essentially enabled a seller to fraudulently profit.
More details of the case below, though what is of upmost concern and breech of trust is that eBay removed the feedback I left for the seller, making the whole feedback system completely flawed. I looked into this and found a message board that discusses the seller's bad service/tactics and that ebay has repetitively removed negative feedback from his profile (with a feedback rating of...Read more
over 300000 he has ZERO negative feedback...I mean, come on!!)..... so eBay are clearly complicit in allowing their large/valued sellers get away with terrible/fraudulent service!! I certainly won't trust eBay as a company again, and will never believe a 100% positive feedback rating! My other concerns relate to eBay failing to recognise the seller's wrong doing, including overcharging me postage and refusing to refund it, throughout the dispute process..... I opened an eBay dispute when as seller sent one of two ordered items, but inadequately refunded me in their favour as they did not refund the additional postage for the second un-delivered item. Further, I had a major issue with the seller’s conduct after selling me two (different) items under a ’buy one get one free’ offer, then charged me for the “free” item I had only ordered BECAUSE of the promotion whilst cancelling the main purchase. I opened a ebay dispute and subsequently had eBay ‘step in’ after no correspondence from the seller. Ebay awarded the case in the seller’s favour. No explanation was provided. This was not right, how can the seller profit like this by not sending me half of my order? I disputed the outcome of the case with the same result. When I took the time to contact eBay by phone and spend 20 minutes on hold to talk to someone about it, suddenly eBay agreed to have the additional postage refunded. It should NOT have been this hard to make this happen! How eBay twice awarded the case in the seller’s favour is beyond me, and has me seriously doubting the validity of their buyer “protection” program. Of greatest concern, no one at eBay has been interested in knowing or doing anything about the fraudulent conduct of the seller. Based on the seller’s behaviour and lack of response to my complaints, I have no doubt that the seller is deliberately working the system to fraudulently profit using dodgy promotions to generate sales. Seemingly eBay are happy to allow their platform to be used for this type of dodgy practice?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Buy elsewhere no support when things go wrong.
Item lost by Australia Post who advised sender has to contact them, sender refused, I escalated to eBay for assistance to get seller to contact Australia Post. eBay closed the case stating I'm not getting refund, I requested a review of the decision but case was closed stating original decision stands I'm not getting a refund. I doubt they even looked at the case given my request was for assistance to get the seller to contact Australia Post to investigate not for a refund. Now as far as eBay is concerned the case is finished no further correspondence will be entered into.

Don’t care for their customers
Received goods which had been sized incorrectly. I asked eBay to assist with exchange. They just replied I wasn’t entitled to a refund. Their policy stated I would. Terrible service.

its a scam its been going on for a while

Why does E-bay mark items as being delivered when tracking clearly shows the items being in another town?
3 answers
Why does E-Bay show items as being AUSTRALIAN STOCK when they come from China.
It's not eBay that marks it Delivered, it's the courier. eBay just shows you what online tracking says.
@ Len1010,
Tax avoidance scam to save the 10% GST which applies to products sent from overseas, eg. from China as well as taking advantage of low postage charges. If you take a look at Aus Post domestic charges you quickly realize that expecting to buy an item for under 10 bucks locally with free delivery include is not realistic.
With most Chinese made products Aust based sellers either buy in bulk from Alibaba and try to compete with Chinese based sellers or for low volume items they order from AliExpress and item is shipped directly to you.
May as well cut out the middleman and order directly from China. ;-)
