Definitely take it back, and request a replacement haven't had any issues with mine still mowing on strong.

Take it back ASAP. At the moment it's faulty as new and Bunnings are obliged to take it back and replace or refund. I think that's your choice. If you leave it a couple of weeks, then Bunnings will say it wasn't sold faulty and it then becomes a warranty issue. I replaced my broken Masport with another brand.

I rang bunnings and they said I had to take it to get repaired under warranty

Ask Masport.

Umm not sure what the question is. Good luck if you win warranty claims.

Hi Dave,
I am no techno
sounds like a carbie issue because my old victa tornado had the same issue, think they replaced a gasket in the lower carbie and went well after that. that was under 12 months warranty back then.

Hi Dave,
I am no mower mechanic but a black and fouling spark plug usually means the fuel mixture is too rich. First thing is to make sure the air cleaner is clean, even take it off while it is running to see if it improves. I don't think these new generation of engines have a mixture screw anymore so I don't know how they adjust it. Could also be an air leak or a faulty or dirty needle valve. If your mower is still within the 2 year warranty period take it to an authorized service agent, it could well be something they will fix free.

Hello Dave, Mine did that too (from new). Check and/or replace the air filter. The engine is running rich and causes the surging.

How do I replace the muffler on the Masport 470 as the vibrations have caused the muffler to crack and break off from the housing.

The muffler should screw out from the block if the muffler is broken off there should be a flange that can be unscrewed by using a pair of multigrips hope this helps.

how does the mullcher fit?

Hi, from memory - as we put it in an haven't taken it out and its been a year or two. It inserts from the back where the catcher goes and clicks into place, easy to remove I remember reading. Probably googling the instruction manual would be the best bet.

We are still very happy with the mower but be aware that it throws the mulch all the time so when you are doing edges ie driveway it will throw mulch over that - but easy fixed sweep it back to the lawn afterwards. Beats emptying a catcher and better for the lawn too.

when changing the blades, are the blades supposed to move on the bolt or should they be tight fixed in place?

HI, fixed in place or they will take the path of least resistance and fold under and you will not mow anything, plus they could become lose and fly off and injure you. Google fixing blades on a mower.

How much oil to put into masport lawn mower?

Not sure if you're topping up or filling a new mower from empty.
There is a dipstick on the side of the motor.
Fill the motor with four stroke oil until the oil level reaches the top mark on the dipstick.
Do not overfill.

can i use 2 stroke oil?

This question would be best directed to Masport.
My opinion is that 2 stroke should not be used, only the recommended grade 4 stroke oil.
2 stroke oil has different properties and could result in severe damage to the motor which won't be covered by warranty.
4 stroke oil is readily available, even supermarkets sell it.
