Hi paul, what is your Question I did not get it
There is a "Like" answer, which hardly anyone bothers to use, suggesting they do not like the answers people go to the trouble of answering. I think it's great that people go to the trouble of answering. If it's an ok answer, we should all acknowledge it, to show appreciation for their efforts.

Not sure if you have to re-adjust the clutch after the initial "bedding in". You can ask the Merc. dealers- Performance Autos in Hobart, but not sure if there are any dealers up north or n west. I bet it cost you a fortune already.
Paul thanks
Its been reprogramed twice but still not quite right changes ok doesn't have a problem, only when on a steep hill, I'm hoping some one has had the same problem spoken to Benz all they say it will need a new clutch but can't accept that as its only 2months since fitted.

What preload on a merc sprinter rear bearings if anybody can help me with this would be appreciated
alanasked
Hi everyone
just wondering can i change out a rear axle from a 311 Mercedes sprinter to a 413 Mercedes sprinter what are the rules if any regarding this?
2 answers
311, I believe stands for 3 tonne 111 H.P., while your 413 is a 4 tonne, 130 H.P., which may be too heavy & too powerful for a probably lighter diff, which may be too low a ratio & rev its head off at about 80 or 90 kph. They should have the ratio stamped on them too. Try checking with a diff specialist mechanic first.
Thank you Paul for your answer it would make sense and hope you have a
very happy xmas

Interesting reading, I am considering buying one but out of the millions sold all over the world looks like those who bought second-hand lemons and installed secondhand motors all seem to collect in this one forum to shoot it down. One even invites only those who have problems to comment and then talks about 6 out of 275 that would recommend buying one? What do you expect? I think I would have a look at other forums too just to get a fair idea of how it really is. You cannot invite only those with problems to comment and then expect an average review. of all sprinters in the market some whom I have seen with more than a million km's on the clock still going strong. But it was interesting none the less.

As somebody currently weighing up whether or not to buy a 2nd hand (2011) 519 4x4 Sprinter, I am getting the feeling from the reviews so far that all Sprinters may well be best avoided?

4x4 s are noisy & drink more than 2 wheel drives & need more servicing. Get a good mechanic to check it out.
Is not 4x4, but do you think an Iveco daily 50C17 would be potentially less problematic?
Try checking all the reviews-not sure about Iveco, but think they use the Fiat engines, that have had problems. Ask your local NRMA-RACT-RACV-motoring association too.

I have 2012 Mercedes-Benz sprinter and about 55 to 75 mph I hear a whining noise and it gets louder and louder as I go faster I just had a new driveshaft put in anybody out there has the same problem that has the answer?
1 answer
Hi Jimmy, I have not heard of this fault, I will ask around, do you know about limp mode
In my personal opinion Mercedes Limp Mode is the Bigger Rip-off by a Manufacture in Australia, The limp mode fault with this vehicle puts the driver at risk by randomly taking control from the driver and being forced to continue with limited power and control until you are able to stop the vehicle to reset the feature. This fault has had an enormous impact on me causing many near misses on both highway and suburban driving. I have outlined these in previous correspondence and Mercedes Australia/Cricks Auto Group are aware of the safety risks that they put drivers into. I believe that Mercedes Australia have now stopped my van randomly switching into limp mode after 3 years, which after having this problem reported to Cricks Auto Croup ever since Ive had this vehicle and they could not fix this!. I believe this is why Cricks did not want to fix my vehicle under warranty and continued to delay repairing this, as well as telling their customers that limp mode is part of the vehicles safety network. It seems that by delaying this work, they can then charge their customers over and over again when the vehicles are out of warranty to perform this work. They are prepared to put their customers safety at serious risk, even injury or death over money. Cricks Auto Group using it to diagnose what every they want and are charging customers triple that of other mechanic as the have a monopoly on this.

I am in the early stage of purchase of a 2012 Mercedes sprinter motorhome, has covered 260,000 Kms. What should I tell the R.A.A. Mechanic to look for other than a meticulase report....
4 answers
Its a prayer..... Mine has 265,000 miles and the when it runs it feels new. 95% of the time there are engine lights on the dash flashing. I get a week or two before its something else. Just spent $2500 on a new DEF tank since the level sensor broke (again) first one broke at 90,000 and was covered under warranty. I did the work myself this time. Last year it was the particulate filter at $3700 and the list goes on and on. Currently the vehicle goes into limp mode every day. So so sad. An overall look in and out may indicate good maintenance. The proper records and the the correct oil is key. Plan on $3000 -$5000 a year for maintenance. Dood luck !!!
Appreciate your answer thanks for the warning.

sprinter 519 cdi does not turn key, charged the vehicle battery and changed the key battery, what could be the problem?

If the key wont turn, all I can suggest is spray some DRY lube like graphite or silicone lube in & give it a try. [Maybe ask an auto electrician first.]
I tried that before I posted this question, it did not work

Hi does anyone know what the problem is when the glow light remains on constantly after engine is running on a 2001 Mercedes Sprinter motor home? Engine starts perfectly even in cold weather so I am thinking not glow plugs. Vehicle is female family member travelling Australia so we advised to get diagnostic from mechanic but would appreciate advice to help make sure that she is not ripped off. cheers
1 answer
There are lots of different problems that the light could be on for. You have to ask a competent diesel or merc. mechanic what it means, to isolate the fault, as there are lots that it could be.

i have a 2008 sprinter van the ignition key will unlock alldoors but will not lock the vehicle i have to use the other key.thanks Ron

If its the remote electronic key as in my 2011 313cdi, it may need a new battery to give it more power. A new remote costs over $450, while one for a Landcruiser will cost $600+ from Toyota! Maybe ask an auto electrician first.

I can't seem to find fuel consumption on a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter 316 CDI XLWB Auto MY11 I am thinking about buying. I noticed allot of complaints about them in general so that's got me worried. I need it for a wheel chair and because we have to travel so much for medical appts my husband is going to set up a very basic arrangement to stay in over night inside it, to save on accomodation. Sick people don't have allot of money to throw around so some advice on the whole concept would be excellent. My preference was a fiat Ducato but they are very hard to find set up with aircon in the back. One of my conditions goes crazy in the heat so I must have it. Other than that no other preferences. Any help? Thanks In Advance

My 2011 is a nightmare of repairs regarding the Diesel emissions in the USA and the DEF ad-blue system. After 90,000 it cost $4,000 + dollars a year in maintenance. Economy is about 18mpg in the usa. I would never recommend this vehicle as better to spend a little more on gas than to be surprised with huge emissions repairs in the thousands every time.
Thanks so much for your reply. Pretty much decided against the Mercedes Spinters now any way. Too many complaints similar to yours, re constant expensive repairs and high price of replacement parts. Going to buy a Fiat Ducato better known as a Ram Promaster in the US, then have it retrofitted with what we need. Thanks again.
Ive had a good run but heard lots of complaints about some Mercs, & even more about Fiats, which are much cheaper in Australia. Best to ask a few diesel mechanics what they think.

The turbo on my sprinter is slow when building boost and the Rev counter is on one plus it keeps on destroying turbos help?
2 answers
A difficult question--you need to ask a competent diesel specialist or Merc mechanic, who hopefully can fix it.
If you have a 2002-2006 it is likely the arm of the turbo actuator is rusty. Get the the WD-40 with the large bendable straw and spray the arm

I have a 2018 313 sprinter converted into a campervan. Th elegal Australian GVM is 3550 kg. Is there a mercedes suspension upgrade to increase the GVM to 3800kg
1 answer
Check with your local motoring association re legal issues-can you sue the seller for selling an un roadworthy vehicle? Ask their solution to the overweight problem, They will know several suspension specialists re up gradeing. The 313 stands for 3 to 3.5 tonnes, & 130 H.P [actually its 129 HP]. You should have got a 413-[4 tonner] Overloading IS dangerous, & police do weight checks, & can put you off the road until its roadworthy plus a "heavy" fine! The heavier it is the slower it is, uses MORE fuel, AND takes longer to stop! Ask the Wanderer caravan club people & the Caravan+ RV magazine[s]. Also check with your Merc dealer for solutions. [If its overweight, that CAN void the warranty too!] Total weight will be full of fuel, fresh water & possibly waste water too, plus all your camping gear, food etc. Let us know how you got on. Good luck with it all.
Raheel Lasked
Hello anyone can guide me how much diff going to cost me?
Sprinter cdi 515
2009 LWB
2 answers
Sorry Raheel,no idea. You should 1st ask a Merc dealer [but sit down before you get the price]! Then ring Merc. wreckers & ask, AND can they fit the diff, if not, do they krow a good mechanic who can, then ring him to ask prices to fit it. Good luck.
P.S. Raheel, If you are getting a 2nd hand diff, check the ratio [possibly stamped on the pinion where the flange fits on.] If different, it may rev much more, [or less]. The 515cdi means it is a 5tonne 150 H.P., a313 is 3tonne, 130H.P. [actually 129 H.P.] so diff ratios MAY vary.
