18.5 years of amazing use
Well after 18.5 years I'm replacing my machine. Yes to another Miele. We have had hardly any issues. We use her every day with at least 4 loads. Got new shockies and that's all. Highly recommend Miele.

I just want to say that my Meile Novotronic W502. It is still working well after 16 years. Under the 10 year warrenty I had a few issues, but mostly it was not using the machine properly, and the service technician helped me learn to wipe out the excess water, empty out the excess water section and to run a hot water wash once a month with bleach to clean it out. I would buy Meile appliances again.

I've had my Miele W502 washer for 14 years. Now all at once, the normal cotton 40C cycle that always took exactly 2 hours is only taking 50 minutes (almost like the 'fast' option is stuck on). Any ideas would be appreciated please. I'm trying to ascertain if it is worth repairing, or time for the tip.

Bought this machine in August 2006. Were told that this machine will last forever. Needed warranty work done in Oct 2007. After that the performance was very poor. The clothes were not properly washed. We were too busy to deal with it. Asked finally in April 2008 to have this looked at. There was a problem with the settings after the first repairs. Since then had no problems until last week. It seems that the worn shock absorbers caused the electronics to fail. Repairs are too expensive and not economical. Not sure what were are going to do for
... Read more now. Maybe buy a cheaper machine and replace it if it starts to malfunction after the warranty period. May come cheaper, also considering paying for the service fees, even though a full refund was promised if we buy another Miele. We used to have cheaper machines before and had never problems with any with regards to the quality of the washing cycle itself. We bought a Miele because we wanted something a bit more reliable. But if we devide the purchase costs by the number of years we had each machine then the Miele is actually worse with regards to value for money than the other machines that didn't last that long.

I love this washing machine!
It washes really well and I never doubt it will wash the really dirty clothes well, I love the crease protection feature as I rarely get mine out as soon as they're done! This machine is definitely reliable and it's mostly quiet except for the spin but that's normal. I will definitely go out of my way to buy Miele again.

For a "male" it is easy to use. Just press start and away it goes, no need to be a computer nerd to use. Washes and spins quite well. Had 9.5 years of trouble free use then it had a heart attack. Difficult to get into the motor etc. but I was surprised the quality of the machine under the cabinet - the Mercedes Benz of washers. Checking reveals that the fault is in the electronics - motor and pump still working. An extreme pity that a machine with much useful life still in it is going to the scrap heap. I would buy another today but my

In all reality, it would be probably best to buy a new, cheaper machine every five years/or death whichever comes first. Not worth the money.
We bought this machine 7 years ago and paid a lot for it. We were told it would last 20 years. Well, it didn't. The serviceman implied that it was my fault and the way I was using the machine. He advised the repairs would be in excess of $1500. I can buy a new machine for that amount of money. So I am, but it won't be a Miele.
Miele Washing Machine
Great washing machine, we have had our current machine for 10 years with out requiring servicing or repairs. Follow the owners manual in regards to maintenance and you should not have problems. My parents have one that is 20 years old, I think this may be their second one. Recommend Miele.
Trouble free machine.

Reliable front loader
I have had this model Miele, my first front loader, for about 6 years and am very satisfied with it overall. It is gentle and, by the look of my water bills, efficient.
There are some points that I am not happy with, and that other people might want to consider when buying a front loader.
1. At the end of the wash cycle, there is a fair amount of water left sitting inside the rubber door seal - about 25 ml. This water will sit there until the next time you use the machine. If this is a while, it will go mouldy, discolouring the rubber sea

You can stop the machine, but then you'll probably have to go back to the beginning of the cycle (unless you know where you are in the cycle, e.g. rinse, and can go to that setting). 3. Further to that point, putting in things that you've missed after you've started the cycle can be a pain.Find out how Miele W 502 compares to other Front Loading Washing Machines

Great washing machine
We have had this front loader for about 5 - 6 years and its still going strong. It washes the clothes really well (as long as you are using the right setting) and gets out most of the water on the spin cycle. I have not had to have my machine serviced at all yet (touch wood). The quick cycle is great for the loads that arent very dirty and only takes about 25 mins. It does have a anti crease function too which is great if you dont take the load of washing out straight away.
Washes well, good spin cycle, anti crease function, water efficient.
The rubber seal around opening collects water which gets dirty and needs regular cleaning. The detergent draw also gets dirty and moudly if not cleaned.
MIELE-THEY DON'T LAST 20 years-mine lasted 6years
I bought a Miele in 2006. It had no problems except one-which was FINAL. It lasted 6 years and now after ONE ONLY problem, it is fixable at the cost of $1650.THAT IS NOT WORTH IT. This machine lasted 6 years and has been well looked after. I paid a high price for the machine, the serviceman was polite (it cost$149), BUT for some unknown reason, it totally burnt out after only 1630 hours of washing.
It showed no signs of problems before, but last wash it shuddered and died. Now it is not worth fixing at that cost. There was nothing unusual about
Excellent
I've had my machine for over five years and it has been fantastic. The normal cycle cleans the clothes better than any other machine I've had and the quick cycle is almost as good.
I follow the advice of doing the hotest cycle with no clothes in it occasionally to give the machine a good clean and I've never had to have it serviced. I do an average of 5 loads per week sometimes more
I had to have the sealing ring replaced last year because something sharp must have caught on it. The serviceman was very efficient and knowledgeable.

Terrible
We bought a Miele product thinking that the $ were justified because of the expected long life of the product. The combination of the poor customer service when we did have a problem has meant we won't be buying Miele again.
washes well - easy to use
Our W502 failed after 6 years and needed a full electronic replacement - Miele quoted $600 to repair and no guarantee that the repair would fix the problem. When asked about the 20 year life expectancy quoted on the web site they said some products needed repairs during this time !! The service was also very poor - 10 days wait for a service call and then 4 weeks quoted to fix the product (if we'd chosen to go ahead)
Terrible
Not impressed. Did not last the distance and certainly was not the machine for a busy family of four having on average at least a load a day. Too much reliance on Miele's supposedly fabulous reputation as opposed to listening to the customer and hearing the frustration behind a machine that does not do what it is supposed to do and certainly does not live up to the enormous price tag!
When it works it works ok.
Expensive repairs, too much reliance by service repair people on the 'reputation' of Miele and undue questioning of your use of it as
Terrible
Extremely disappointed!
We were going to settle for a Bosch but decided to go with what was meant to be the best ....
Spoke to Meile - they are trying to tell us it may be the powder we are using
We are going to try Omomatic this weekend
Not hopeful
I see a battle with Miele coming up
Proceed with caution if you're looking at one of these
Keen to see how others fared with this product .. ie: do we have a faulty machine or is the model a lemon
Don't believe the hype!

Just installed but door won't open how do I open it
Good afternoon Kay, The appliance needs to be plugged in at a power point and then turned on with the on/off switch before the door can be opened. Alternatively, the washer has a secondary/emergency door opening mechanism located in the service area (small door on the front of the washer). for more information, please download the user guide from the Miele website and refer to pages 38 to 40 - https://www.miele.com.au/domestic/customer-information-385.htm#p510

I am staying at my sister's place and not too familiar with her appliances. I did a wash without noticing the outlet filter was open on her W502 Miele washing machine. When I returned the outlet and inlet lights were both flashing, and water had drained everywhere. I turned off the machine. I tipped the machine forward 45 degrees and drained some water. I turned on the machine and the lights were no longer flashing. The drain/spin cycle works. The separate rinse cycle works. However when I close the door the machine makes a sound, like it is trying to start (maybe, I'm not really sure). When I try a regular wash cycle it starts, water comes in, then it stops. I've just been reading around (e.g. https://www.fixya.com/support/t8206252-check_drain_check - and - https://www.justanswer.com/australia-whitegoods/89334-miele-novatronic-w502-front-loader-washing-machine.html) and I'm wondering if water is pooling in the bottom somewhere, triggering a float switch? Also in the circular rubber seal for the door there are 3 small holes, about the circumference of a biro. spaced evenly apart in the bottom center of the seal. Is this normal? Any advice would be appreciated.

I recommend ringing Miele to get advice and check if your sister still has a warranty on it. She may do and you may not have to pay the call out fee. I literally can't recall what caused my machine to have the light flashing and that noise sounds odd. Best to get it checked because I don't normally have the inlet problem so you may be saving her money by fixing an existing problem!
