Not worth the money.

We bought this machine 7 years ago and paid a lot for it. We were told it would last 20 years. Well, it didn't. The serviceman implied that it was my fault and the way I was using the machine. He advised the repairs would be in excess of $1500. I can buy a new machine for that amount of money. So I am, but it won't be a Miele.

Miele Washing Machine

Great washing machine, we have had our current machine for 10 years with out requiring servicing or repairs. Follow the owners manual in regards to maintenance and you should not have problems. My parents have one that is 20 years old, I think this may be their second one. Recommend Miele.
Trouble free machine.

Great washing machine

We have had this front loader for about 5 - 6 years and its still going strong. It washes the clothes really well (as long as you are using the right setting) and gets out most of the water on the spin cycle. I have not had to have my machine serviced at all yet (touch wood). The quick cycle is great for the loads that arent very dirty and only takes about 25 mins. It does have a anti crease function too which is great if you dont take the load of washing out straight away.
Washes well, good spin cycle, anti crease function, water efficient.
The rubber seal around opening collects water which gets dirty and needs regular cleaning. The detergent draw also gets dirty and moudly if not cleaned.

Excellent

I've had my machine for over five years and it has been fantastic. The normal cycle cleans the clothes better than any other machine I've had and the quick cycle is almost as good.
I follow the advice of doing the hotest cycle with no clothes in it occasionally to give the machine a good clean and I've never had to have it serviced. I do an average of 5 loads per week sometimes more
I had to have the sealing ring replaced last year because something sharp must have caught on it. The serviceman was very efficient and knowledgeable.

Terrible

We bought a Miele product thinking that the $ were justified because of the expected long life of the product. The combination of the poor customer service when we did have a problem has meant we won't be buying Miele again.
washes well - easy to use
Our W502 failed after 6 years and needed a full electronic replacement - Miele quoted $600 to repair and no guarantee that the repair would fix the problem. When asked about the 20 year life expectancy quoted on the web site they said some products needed repairs during this time !! The service was also very poor - 10 days wait for a service call and then 4 weeks quoted to fix the product (if we'd chosen to go ahead)

Just installed but door won't open how do I open it

Good afternoon Kay, The appliance needs to be plugged in at a power point and then turned on with the on/off switch before the door can be opened. Alternatively, the washer has a secondary/emergency door opening mechanism located in the service area (small door on the front of the washer). for more information, please download the user guide from the Miele website and refer to pages 38 to 40 - https://www.miele.com.au/domestic/customer-information-385.htm#p510

I am staying at my sister's place and not too familiar with her appliances. I did a wash without noticing the outlet filter was open on her W502 Miele washing machine. When I returned the outlet and inlet lights were both flashing, and water had drained everywhere. I turned off the machine. I tipped the machine forward 45 degrees and drained some water. I turned on the machine and the lights were no longer flashing. The drain/spin cycle works. The separate rinse cycle works. However when I close the door the machine makes a sound, like it is trying to start (maybe, I'm not really sure). When I try a regular wash cycle it starts, water comes in, then it stops. I've just been reading around (e.g. https://www.fixya.com/support/t8206252-check_drain_check - and - https://www.justanswer.com/australia-whitegoods/89334-miele-novatronic-w502-front-loader-washing-machine.html) and I'm wondering if water is pooling in the bottom somewhere, triggering a float switch? Also in the circular rubber seal for the door there are 3 small holes, about the circumference of a biro. spaced evenly apart in the bottom center of the seal. Is this normal? Any advice would be appreciated.

I recommend ringing Miele to get advice and check if your sister still has a warranty on it. She may do and you may not have to pay the call out fee. I literally can't recall what caused my machine to have the light flashing and that noise sounds odd. Best to get it checked because I don't normally have the inlet problem so you may be saving her money by fixing an existing problem!
