Bought a 40T Log Splitter from Best Buys Online
Had a problem with my log splitters - stopping & starting after assembly. I rang the company that I bought it from and the guy on the phone sorted the problem out quickly, turns out i didn't put enough oil in. I should have read the manual. Very helpful and professional service.

Poor back up spare parts and communication .
Bought a Black Diamond 40 ton log splitter from " Best Buys On Line " on Ebay . The machine seems to be quite good and runs well etc . The downside though is the lack of spare parts back up from this firm . When i asked them if i could get a hydraulic filter, I sorta got the third degree, as they wanted to know why ??? They thought it was a joke, and said no one ever changes them .( even though the book says change every 50 hours ) They didnt know if they could supply or not, and said they would give me a call back in a day or two or may...Read more
be a couple of weeks . I suggested he check with his computer but was abruptly told he was unable to do so and hung up ......I would strongly not recommend anyone buying from this firm as they certainly dont care about on going business once they have sold you the machine .Similar opinion? Find out how Millers Falls Log Splitter 40-Ton compares to other Routers / Cutout Tools
Know better, choose better.
200+ metres and still going strong.
I have had a 32 ton Millers Falls with a 5.5hp chonda for about 5 years. Cost about $1200. It has split well over 200 metres and never missed a beat. Had to weld the foot plate but after all that punishment I wouldn't expect any more from a $3000 splitter.

Great for the price
Have had for 7 years and no major issues other than the footplate bent 7 degrees very early on however no further movement and does not impact performance. Design would be improved with additional heavy braces for the horizontal position. I split about 20 ton a year of redgum and box woods and has been very reliable. Currently in the process of retro fitting a hydraulic log lifter and manufacturing of a trailer so as can be towed and at a more comfortable working height. Over all been a great buy.

was impressed
So I have a earlier model with the 13 hp chonda motor . Have been really happy with it. Ive had no problem with the battery going flat, I do clean the top of it after every use to make sure of this.
Unfortunately today, with less than fifty hours on it, I turned it off to move it to a new position and it wouldn't start with the starter motor. So I went the pull start and couldn't pull the cable. The motor is seized! Had done a oil change so maintenance has been done and checked oil level. Not so impressed now!

what a ripper
Recently purchased this petrol driven wood splitter which a mate and i assembled. Had a couple of minor problems with assembly but soon had it working and found it easy to use and more than enough power to split aussie hardwood of all descriptions. The new model comes with a 16hp Chonda motor and with the electric start very simple to use. Can be used either vertically or horizontally but if the logs are larger than about 450mm it is best to use initially as vertical and split them into a size that can be picked up and then split in the horizon...Read more
tal position. We found that larger logs tend to tip off the foot plate so we placed a larger piece of square timber ( about 500mm long )the same thickness as the foot plate and at right angle to the machine and this made the job easier. great machine for the price (paid $1545)Similar opinion? Update: went and bought a new motor and when I told the bloke what happened to the original motor he said to pour some oil into the cylinder head as some times this is enough to free it. It was a hot ... Read more
