On the little details you've provided - it would be almost impossible to diagnose .
I would recommend taking the car to a Mitsubishi australia workshop or possiby a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop or if the problem may be within the electrics then perhaps a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help.
I also found ultratune experts at diagnosis and repairs of faults.

Depends how many people and kids etc I have one baby and I would say it's to small for long trips once you add portacot pram and all other things it's cramped.

Hi Shaz,

It's not the best car to buy for the fuel efficiency as a 1.8L will only be 350km on full tank. Other cars have much better fuel efficiency that will use less petrol.

Why does my Mitsubishi Lancer CG have a gap between the tail lights and the boot?
It's like air/water can get in the boot it doesn't look right. It looks like it need rubber seals or something around them.

Any suggestions please

Hi Sezza,

The gap is just how the fitment has been made for the model. There needs to be a gap so you can open the boot and water shouldn't be able to get inside.

Faulty aircon 2007 lancer, hi all I'm attempting to diagnose an aircon fault in my wife's lancer, runs intermittently and nearly always fails on a hot day, I have checked the gas pressures - all ok, I have flushed the radiator and replaced coolant in a bid to rule out engine temperature, still if keeps happening, been in 3 times to have it fixed with no results!! Any ideas???

Is the compressor noisy?. If so it is likely you will need to replace it . You may also need to replace the condenser as well. Not a cheap job unfortunately as there is a fair bit of labor and if you use new parts you are looking at about $700 -$800 in parts and gas etc.If you're lucky you may be able to source a good second hand compressor but be careful. Probably not a great help but there's no easy fix when it comes to aircon. All up expect to be forking out between $1200-$1400 to repair a failed compressor & condenser.

Ben
Ben

Thanks Mark, the compressor isnt noisy, i have however managed to disable a temperature sender attached to the compressor, this has made no difference, im leaning to ward a faulty pressure switch, i have even pressure across the 2.
thanks for the reply

I cant help with that one. I have a Magna as well and it does exactly the same thing and I have been trying to fix it for a year now. All I can think of is a loose connection somewhere and I have been pulling plugs apart and putting them back again hoping it might help. Nothing yet, so good luck

I use cheap fuel and the car is great but its best and runs sweeter if you don't mind the expense of the best fuel. these cars are pretty robust.

See if you can buy an silent alarm that goes directly to a security guard company as people do not take enough notice of a alarm these days

Okay so i've had my lancer now for around 3 months, its been very reliable so far.

One question. When i'm at idle and my car is stopped i can A feel small vibration every 4 seconds or so.

It's like the rev's go a little to low and then it kicks back up again. The vibrations are very small and you don't notice the Rev gauge on the dash move either. ??

Its just alittle annoying when your at the lights and the cars not purring like every other car i've had.

Hi, there are a few things that could cause that, but it sounds like one of your cylinders could be misfiring (im no mechanic, so check with one first). Most likely caused by a faulty spark plug or ignition lead. I'd start by replacing your spark plugs to see if that fixes it ($20 or so) then your ignition leads if that doesnt solve it.

I'd still recommend you to take it to a qualified mechanic though. Theyd be able to tell you what it is straight away.

RGVturbo
RGVturbo

@BFun, thanks for your advise, these cars have two coil packs to control the 4 spark plugs. I changed the spark plugs around a month ago and noticed no improvement since then.

But i thought it might need a good tune up, or like you say it might be the four leads or even the coil packs.

It is as if it could be related to one cylinder be cause it happens every four seconds, it's a consistent small vibration. Only at idle though.

Cheers

I have a 2002 lancer coupe which only takes 36 litres to fill when the gauge shows Empty. What is the true tank capacity? I thought it should be at least 50 litres. but don't want to be caught short if I'm wrong.

I previously read that it is 45 litres. The lowest i have ever gotten is 38-39 litres with the fuel light just going on (i don't particularly want to risk running out). So i would say it is likely there is a reserve of 6 more litres once the fuel light comes on making 45 seem realistic than 50.

Mark
Mark

The gauge needle is calibrated to 40 litres and the tank holds 50 litres.

The low fuel warning light will start to appear (flash on & off) at the point where you have about 10-15 litres left depending on whether your going up or down hill or on flat ground.

I have had 2 CE Lancers and have come to realise that it works this way and beats a long walk to and from the petrol station.
