Great reliable small car,a perfect run about thats easy to park, has a sporty look that stops most guys calling it a girls car,I would recommend the Mirage to any one.
Owned 2 Mirages A 1996 model and a 2000 model. Nice cars to drive build quality is great and I found them to very reliable vehicles. What your getting is really a hatch back lancer, I current model lancer 2 door hatch would be more appealing than a colt.
Would have been great to get the 2 Ltr Mivec engine that was available in japan

Best little car i've ever driven!

This was my very first car and I still think it's a great little car, easy to drive around town, super easy to park and great on fuel! Boot and cabin space was fantastic! Engine is built like a little tank, would take heaps of punishment and took modification very well! It also took to the highway very well and only struggled a little going up hills. Styling is great, especially with aftermarket wing and rims. Would highly recommend this car to anyone!
Reliable, inexpensive, fuel economy, alot of aftermarket modifications, and perfect for around town.

Judging by the date, this is the pre-2012 offering. I totally agree.

Good troublefree motoring, but very gutless. very basic could probrably get more bells and whistles on Korean cars for less $.
2001 Auto model with Air and Power steeringNow have 88,000kms used for city commutingLow fuel consumptionTroublefree motoringInexpensive servicing and insuranceplenty of room in front for a tall male
very very basic (instrumentation, no electric windows)Very very gutless, lack of acceleration can be quite dangerous.Red colour has faded badly even with paint protection and always being garaged at home/office.

Has been a very reliable car, with a very smooth and quiet engine. On country trips, it barely moves when a big truck passes the other way as it is so aerodynamic.I have had very good service from the Mitsubishi dealer in Adelaide.
Nice wedge shape, very aerodynamic, good fuel consumption, nice weight to gearchange, very good heating & cooling, handy hatchback, supportive seats.
Rather crunchy reverse gear selection, harsh ride with light load.

Its a very nice small car. I highly recommend this car anyone. It's very basic, not too many electronics and makes driving very enjoable. Big thumbs up.
Very small car to buzz around the city especially parking. Very relliable, I had it for abour 2 years which I bought as a second owner and had no problems at all. It's very economical especially with petrol prices now.
The only thing I disliked was the power, this one was automatic and was too slow especially when you wanted to overtake. The stereo was very average, it needs replacing if you appreciate good sound.

Mirage is a great car. IMO it's one of the best designed cars in terms of engine reliability, economy and style. I could totally understand why one of the viewers here changed his/her Mirage with yet another Mirage.
Our Mirage 2000 never lets us down (knock wood!). It starts every time, even during Canberra's coldest mornings. Bought it for my wife last April 2009. At 190,000 km, it still feels and drives like new. We fill it up at average of AUS$45 for 2 weeks(!).
* Road noise--the one thing I'd like to have it reduced by changing tires and insulating.* 2 door

A great little car to drive and own. Easy to service and very reliable. I have owned a vast range of cars and find this to be a real pleasure to drive and own. Especially when taking into account its purchase price. Do definately recommend to anyone looking for a small car

Wonderful little car, highly recommended for first time drivers, as it offers everything from safety to ease of use and huge capacity. I don't understand why Mitsubishi changed back to the colt!
Everything! Great looks, wonderful drive, excellent space for such a little car, brilliant fuel economy and comfortable for people in the back seat. I had an accident in this car and if it wasn't for the safety features, I was advised that I would have gone straight through the windscreen! This little car saved my life :)
Nothing - I loved my mirage, and miss it every day

LA (Hatchback) LS CVT (2013-2020)

Hi, I just purchased a 2014 mirage and in trying to figure out why the aircon isn't blowing cold air, I've noticed the radiator fan isn't spinning - that I have seen. I haven't done any long trips in it yet, generally only 10 minute drives so far. My question is, how long should it take for the fan to kick in? I am scared to drive far in case the fan isn't working!
Thank you for any help!

Radiator fan should only kick in when it needs to i.e. it won't spin as soon as you turn on the car. It will eventually start spinning when you are stuck in traffic (you'll hear it click on) but shouldn't need to if you're driving in normal conditions as there is enough cooling via the normal airflow over the radiator.

2002 mirage 1.5 manual. What are the timing belt service intervals please

I do mine every 100,000 km - also change all the other belts and check water pump for leaks while doing the timing belt. replacing a leaky pump works out cheaper if done during the timing belt replacement.

Mirage CE (1996-2003)

I have a manual Mirage 2003 As the engine is fairly basic I'd like to do basic maintenance; oil change, oil filter replacement, brakes etc myself. Where is the best place to find D.I.Y. information?
Any ideas would be great, thanks!
