    MQ 2.4 petrol review

    published

Thought i would write a review on our new 2.4 PETROL as is not much info on these as most sales seem to be the diesel model. We where after a cheap reliable ute with good ground clearance but not requiring full 4x4. We purchased new MQ 2.4 petrol base model tray back for 20k drive away, top value in my opinion. Has all the luxuries. The petrol version goes very well, not as much power as the turbo diesel obviously but will pull up most hills on the highway in 5th without any trouble. Previous vehicles i had to drop a gear or two, where the triton is happy in 5th all the way. The motor is responsive right through the rev band. Not recommended for pulling a caravan or heavy trailer, otherwise a great work ute.

It's ok' not a giant killer of the car market

    published

Driving and handling is not to bad (single cab dropside) can get a little squirrelly at times with no weight in the tray.
Interior is "better" than the last model MN' passenger seat rattle can be annoying' slight auto vibration on takeoff but it's not a problem at cruising speeds' good power at a 133kw fuel economy is on par at 100klm to 10ltrs (average) MMA need to keep up with the other manufacturers with the gearbox, 5 speed compared to VW's 8 and Toyota's 6 ect.
Once you deal with the PVC oil breather and install a catch can it's not a bad ute' like I said it's not a giant killer of the car market but for the price it's OK

    published

As said I've done over 25000ks in 6 months and it is a refined well presented ute 2.4 petrol. Very happy purchase for new small business. No longer working for others and sailing the new seas in my MQ 2015 Triton ;)
