I was wanting to mount it up by the mirror off the screen and power it from 12v from the light source. From my experience the suctions break down with sunlight and they fall off the screen every few weeks.
Is there another lead available rather than the huge cigar lighter plug .. ?

I have fitted a smart box to my 740. when the ignition is turned of how long does it record darkness there is 4 setting no time 12 hours 24 hours 36 hours. So if you record something do you have to save the files before locking your car because the camera stays on and records nothing. should it go to sleep and wake up if the car is suddenly moved and record what happens

Hi Owen,
Regarding the Parking mode, the dash camera will not record for 12 hours or for the time set on the Smartbox. It will only record once it detects motion or an impact.
The dash camera will start recording on Parking mode depending on the device settings such as the Auto Entry which sets the level for the G Sensor to activate the Parking Mode. This can be set by going to System Settings>Auto Entry. The parking mode will also start when the car stops moving for about 5 minutes.
Regarding the screen, you have the option to have it always on or to have it turn off automatically after recording starts. For the LCD settings, go to Settings>LCD Standby.

I have a new MiVue740 Dash Cam. I purchased a Class 10 64GB SD Card and inserted into the Dash Cam. The screen then indicated "Please Format SD Card". Following the directions to format the SD Card, that is, to press the 3 small horizontal bars in the top right hand corner of the screen and select "Format". When I press those bars ..... nothing happens. It appears that those bars are inactive. No menu of any sort comes up. Am I missing something, as I don't seem to be getting of 1st base.

Hi, it is not a touch screen. You have to use the buttons on the side to navigate. I had that problem also.

Please hold the device and gently rotate the mount. The ball joint will allow you to adjust the position of the device to its mount.

Hi Molly,
You need to purchase the Navman Mivue Smart Box. This will allow the Dashcam to be hardwired to your car battery to allow recording when parked.
Hope this helps.
The sales guy never told me I needed to buy a smart box for recording while parked, my dash cam is simple to install and can be used to record while parked, but it has not got the smart box and is not hardwired to the car, but looking at it, I can still record while parked, because the option is showing on the cam.
It has the option to record while parking yes Melissa, but if you do not have the Smart Box hardwired when you're parked and the car is turned off there is no power going to the device and it will turn off.

Hi Margaret, I returned my unit for a refund, if I did not press the event button within two seconds of what I wanted to capture, it missed the event, it was supposed to record 10 seconds prior to the event button, you should test yours you might be entitled to a refund if it is faulty from new. I cannot help with the menu as I don't have the unit anymore . I bought a Garmin Drive Assist 51 it is not perfect but in my opinion much better, as it goes back further after pressing the event button, don't rely on the lane warning too much it is far from perfect but great to have . The main issue is it is supposed to beep continuously approaching a speed camera, it does not always do that, even though I chose continuous, but it is a navigator and camera in one unit . Worth the extra money.

Last night I needed the vision from my MiVUE 740 . I took it inside and linked to the computer. Nothing. I pressed the on button and the green light appears then amber then turns off. It does it every time I try. I took it back to the car and plugged it in, nothing. Doesn't seem to work anymore. Any ideas what has happened. Thanks. Leisa.

Hi
Are you viewing video in Media Player on your PC/Laptop, as it will not play sound. You need to download the MiVue Manager App and view videos through that. I think the audio is recorded on a separate file along with the GPS and telemetry information. It's a great app anyway, shows GPS info, maps,speeds etc. Hope this helps. Cheers
Is sound turned on in recording, I no longer have this unit so I don,t remember if this option is available, also have you tried using a different player and are your drivers and computer up to date

Thanks for the reply guys. I've manged to figure it out after posting my question. Yes you're right Mark. I had to download the Mivue Manager. All works now. But I'm very happy with the performance of this dashcam. Very good for an entry level dashcam.

Yes it's mini USB, not the micro USB that Android phones use. But you can buy a microsd USB card reader for around $10.
