I have a Navman MY690LMMT which is about 18 months old.
I want to update my maps.
I have connected the device to my computer and my computer acknowledges that the device is connected. I can open the USB Drive and all the contents are displayed on my computer screen.
But that is as far as I can go. I can't communicate any further. The Navman is switched on and I have followed the instructions on the web site.
Any tips? What am I not doing correctly?
I had a Tomtom for 6 years and had no problems.
Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Bruce. You need to have Navdesk installed on your pc for it to communicate with the Navman. If you don't have the cd that came with the unit go to the Navman site and download it.
Once installed it should automatically check for updates when the satnav is connected. If there are updates available it should detail what is available and then give you the choice of which ones you want to install. From that point the update is automatic.
If that doesn't work then it might be worth contacting Navman to discuss the problem. On the one occasion that I spoke to them I found they were very helpful.
I have had several Navmans over the years and I feel that this is the worst, especially with the battery.
To be honest I have sourced a replacement battery for my old MyescapeIII and have gone back to using that as it is a much better unit in my opinion

Thanks for your info John.
I have also contacted Navman and yes they are very polite and helpful. I have done what you have advised and what Navman have advised.
However I still can't get communication between my PC and my Navman.
I have had no problems with my Tomtom and am not unfamiliar with PCs. I think there must be a problem with my Navman.

We are sorry to hear that you are having problems in updating your device.

The first thing I would suggest is to perform a hard reset to the device by poking the reset hole at the back of it, then connect it again to your computer to check if the connection problem has been isolated. If not, please try using another USB cable, USB port, disable/lower down your firewall or try other computer.

My newly purchased MY690LMMT does not give the correct address, it can be 50 metres off. It appears to navigate the streets ok. How do i calibrate this unit.

Don't honestly know as I don't use the NAVMAN bluetooth hands free system, both of my cars had been setup with the car manufacturers b/tooth system so have not bothed to changed........sorry

Sorry..I persisted with my navman for 3 weeks..due to its failure in delivering speed alerts...voice recognition and low volume ..I returned it and bought a Garmin Drive..perfect.. so Have no idea about phone recognition..and to put it politely I will never have a Navman again.

Hi Ray H.

To pair another Bluetooth mobile phone with your Navman, please disconnect the current Bluetooth connection on the mobile phone first. Then, go to your Navmans Settings > Bluetooth > On. Scan the Navman on your another mobile phone and enter 1234 for the password.

Unfortunately, your device cannot be connected to the speaker of your car as it does not have a port to allow it. Alternatively, you may want to adjust the volume of your device instead. To do this, go to Settings > Audio > tap “+” or “–” to adjust the volume.

Brand new 690LMMT Unit. Brand new Mac. Can't download any map updates. Phone number queuing system is not working. No tech support. Do I just take it back to get a refund? This is very bad service.

what is font size on street names. Can size be increased if needed.

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, the font size of the street names showing on the map of the MY690LMMT cannot be changed. However, what we can suggest is to refer on the top part of the screen (during your route) as the street name of the next turn will display there.

Alternatively, you may also check the street names that you will pass by during your route by tapping anywhere from the map screen > Route > on the top right corner, tap the turn arrow to show the turn list.

I would like to know how I remove the device from the mount. The 690LMMT manual indicates the device slides onto the mount but I had to loosen the plastic fastener "nut" and pull the device off. Is that how it is meant to work.

It just clips on there is 2 little lugs just push the edges with your thumb

I purchased a MY690LMMT on the 2nd of the 2nd 2022, after my MY300LMT speaker quit.
the MY690LMMT directions are 90% wrong. I updated the maps, still the same, is the
today I went from PADSTOW to ARNDELL PARK VIA Henry Lawson Drive at every street on the right it said
turn right until I was about 2 kilometers the destination. the MY300LMT did not do this, is it a map update, or something else . route type is set on economical, same as the MY300LMT.
also the battery fully charged. when turned again 12 hours later it is dead will not even light up the screen, the old one would last 2 to 6 days. is there a way to disable the lane merge warning, it very annoying and distracting Regards Bill

Dont set it to economical try just choosing the fastest route theirs only a few kms difference between them
the batteries wont last more than a few hours the batteries only meant to be like a backup so they call it lol
i leave mine plugged in all the time in the car if i dint i might get a hour before plugging it in again
i think in the settings under warnings some thing like that you might find way of turning off lane merge

Our Gps is not 1 month old yet. I charged the battery over night before using it. A week ago a message show that the battery was dangeressly low to charge start away. It was connected to the car charger. We notice that the orange light is on when we begin travelling. I have just recharged it now and is showing fully charged. When I put it in the car and connect and turn it on the light is still orange. Can anyone help as is this normal or something wrong with it.

You got a week out of the charge you lucky bugger mine doesn't hold it that long. The orange light comes on when its on charge its just normal

Hi Barbara,

I would love to set your expectation with the battery of most of our Navman devices. Please note:
• The battery is not to be used or relied upon as a sole power source.
• The device is designed to be connected to the car power adaptor at all times.
• The battery is designed as a backup power source in the event of a short-term power failure/loss from the main power source (cigarette lighter port).

This is normal for the GPS to display 'battery low' when not connected to the power source. So, you have the make sure that GPS is always connected to the Navman car power adapter whenever in use.
