Good product
Bought from office work for half price. is is faster than my old modem. it is compatible with NBN which is my primary requirement. Easy installation fast speed. long range. wifi range is pretty good wit it. i have not tried range extender with it i don't know whether we can use it.
Show detailsOn ADSL but prepare to be go on NBN
This supports ADSL2+ but at the same time if you house is suddenly upgrade to NBN, this can still be used. But only works on FTTP (fiber to the premise, where the NBN modem with the optical cable is inside your house). For those that don't know, there is a Ethernet cable that needs to connects from the DVI port of the NBN modem to the port behind the router and the phone cable is no longer necessary.
Like its predecessors netgear genie is easier to deal with and setup is quite straight forward if you grew up using netgear products. My opinion
Does the job
on the package it says high range signal but this is not a case. The signals could not reach to end of my house which is not a bog house so I end up to buy a signal amplifier. however it is stable and never drops so if you have a small house it is good

Not what was expected.
I bought this router as a quick fix to a temporarily broken router yet the functions provided was not suitable for my needs. The Qos services of this modem is not to the standards of modern modems and needs an update. The speeds of packets transfer was also not adequate for its price.

good product that i need.
The product is the best Wi-Fi booster available, with its signature design and useful features like the USB 3.0 port. It also gives me five gigabit Ethernet ports that allow it to function as a bridge. It's not as compact as some Wi-Fi extenders, but it has more to offer in terms of performance. it has good dual band performance and offers me plenty of management settings that i need. thank you very much to read my review.
Show detailsDecent router
This router is decent but I have a few criticisms that I would make. First of all, this router failed on me so I had to send it back for a replacement but then the replacement failed on me after a few months as well. Netgear was kind enough to send me another replacement which has been working properly for almost a year now so I'm hoping everything should be good now. Also, the Netgear genie website which helps users configure various settings for the router could be redesigned to be more intuitive and user-friendly.

great!
it is a very good product. I have been using it for more than two year and it never miss a beat. it is easy to set up. every device can be connected well at every place of my house even in toilet. of course the price is not very cheap but it deserve that.
Show detailsGreat router for the price
On paper the Netgear D6200 is a sensible option: wireless AC and a modem all-in-one for an affordable price. But on closer inspection the modem doesn’t support fibre and the AC1200 wireless implementation is weak. 802.11n 5GHz performance is a highlight, but over 2.4GHz it is woeful. Looks and ease of use are also somewhat mediocre making for a product which is old before its time. Better options out there.
Show detailsWorks like a brick
What a waste of money. I have called the helpline and spent over an hour connected via cable on my laptop. Won't even recognise my ISP password to log in. This big is the biggest piece of junk. Don't waste your money buying this product. It may be ok if you're an IT guru but for the average person it is useless.

Same as other report: "Frustrating intermittent wifi".
Annoyed with frequent need to close computer and router and re-start. Using USB flash drive worked once, but not this morning. Web page so far unhelpful. Printed my 'Welcome' email, but realise I probably should have saved it as an email : links embedded (I think). 2 year guarantee, same as Telstra TGateway which latter expired very soon after the guarantee.
Show detailsGreat unit at a decent price.
I've bought 2 of these now. One for my parents and one for myself. I've found it to be a great unit. Connects to all my devices easily and gives decent speeds. I don't think the range is amazing but for our apartment it's been absolutely perfect. I would definitely buy another in the future if required.
Show detailsFrustrating intermittent wifi
Performed well for a while, then progressively had more and more wifi connection issues. Yes.... have done all the usual stuff, like checking for other sources of interference, changing wifi channels, Firmware Updates, etc etc. Signal strength is OK, but still has issues. I'm just hanging off replacing it until the NBN comes along in the next few months.

Great until tried to update firmware
This was a great unit until l was given the option to update the firmware. As soon as l did, the unit froze and there was nothing l could do to bring it back. Turning it off and on didn't work. Factory reset didn't work so it is dead. A complete waste of money. How Netgear can sell such an inferior product is beyond me. It's not fit for purpose. Don't buy it.
Show detailsNetgear redeemed themselves somewhat by swapping the unit for a new one, so obviously this is a common problem. The lesson learned though, can be applied to all technology: google it before you do any updates or try to change anything.
Two cans and a bit of string would provide a better signal.
Bought this on the fourth- it's absolutely diabolical I am sitting 3-5 meteres away and I get intermittent 1-3 bars out of 5. To say it's sporadic is generous. It was bought from JB Hi Fi and will be going back for a refund this week - unacceptabel for $178 that is should be so poor. I should have known better, but to be honest selection was similarly poor and I was told many years ago that never buy a modem without antenna which made sense then, but did I listen hell no, I bought it anyway. High expectations meet poor outcome. As Molly says Do Yourself A Favour and DONT buy this!
Show detailsDownloaded firmware update after setup and that killed it
Bought this modem/router with high hopes after recommendation from JB Hifi techie. Started out OK and came up with a firmware upgrade, which I naturally selected and it then become a dead box. No more Netgear. I also had a Netgear range extender that died a similar death. Appalling. Never again.
Show detailsNetgear make poor wireless modems!
The wireless on this modem is terrible. Just terrible. The wired aspect of it works great, I have not had a single problem with wired to my Mac, PS4, AppleTV. I have had a lot of issues with the modem just not working/connecting though. It worked well for the first 5-6 months then has needed more and more power cycling. The wireless is so bad, it simply disappears from existence. In fact, I have almost 100% reliability with my $40 extender point that I bought from Kogan, I would be lost without it! Personally, for the price I originally paid I expected a MUCH better modem. I should have read the reviews though.
Show detailseasy to set up ???
it worked then downloaded firmware up date and that was the end of it i cannot connect to the internet wired or wireless i hink i got ripped from JB hi fi Robina may have to take it back if i cant work it out ? has anyone had a similar problem
took it back they swapped it for another works fine
after 12 months wireless is a lot slower ? seems like everthing you buy today is SHAT
Wireless fails after 12 months
Easy set up,wired is good but wireless only works at 3m after 12 months. I bought 2 from office works at the same time, one for the office and the other for home and almost at the same time wireless lost it strength to 3m.
Reset to factory, updated firmware but still the same. Only solution is to add a wireless booster.
Wish i could give 0 stars, it doesn't even desverve that
I paid above $360 for this "super advanced state of the art" modem.
It is nothing but problems. Wifi networks drop out, Are not connectable
Routers lights turn off and stop working
The netgear phone support was so rude and wanted me to pay $300
For another 90 days of support. She kept repeating "i am not authorised to go any further with you and will be disconnecting this call"
DO NOT BUY NETGEAR! IF YOU ARE STUCK WITH A DUD LIKE ME THEY *DO NOT CARE*
$360 down the drain. Router is brand new too.
Shame on netgear.
I do not have a proof of purchase, however I will upload pictures of the router doing what I have explained and hope it is enough to verify my review of the modem.
Qos, keyword blocking, 5 GHz range all useless.
Qos is next to useless, 5 GHz range very poor, keyword blocking does not work consistently. The only good thing about this router is it is stable and hasn't crashed. Netgear really needs to fix its firmware. I would never have bought this if i had known how useless Netgear Qos was. Linksys next time.
Disappointed with what i thought would be a good wireless router
Bought the D6200 almost a year ago. It worked well for a while but the wireless fails intermittently.
I blamed my ISP but nope, upon investigation it was the D6200. It's wireless is suspect. (wired works ok)
Shall now search for another brand that might actually have a good wireless system.
It works
Must say I'm surprised at the negative reviews. Mine worked out of the box and the WiFi was a massive improvement on our previous modem. Very noticeable stronger signal at the far reaches of our home.
Internet connection is aways stable.
Recommend it especially now they're down in n price.
Drop out Drop Out
Purchased 6 months ago. Within the first month started having drop out problems, which I had not had with the previous router. Drop outs at the worst were up to 20 times a day. Looked for assistance through Netgear who did their best to help with solutions like reboot the device eventually restore to factory settings and re-install firmware. These solutions were a temporary fix. Eventually took it back to retailer who replaced with a new D6200. Same problems occurred. Netgear again tried to help but the there appeared to be no reasonable soluti
... Read moreon that didn't cost me more or require me to be with out Wifi for an indeterminate amount of time. Stripped Netgear software from the computer and operate as basic as possible now dropouts are as few as 4-5 a day. Not sure what is more annoying the drop outs are having to replace a $300 router after such a short amount of time. It's good, but worth the price?
As my previous 600N dual band modem/router turned out to be faulty, I purchased a Netgear D6200 as a replacement as recommended by a sales rep and I ended up returning it after 2 days.
The reason for the return was not because of faults or anything but just that its parenting control function did not suit our needs; i.e. it does not allow time-based access control of individual devices, even though the salesperson said it did.
Also, for the price, which was more than twice as much as my previous device, the coverage of the signal was not
... Read more that great. The Wi-Fi signals, even 2.4 GHz, did not reach our HDD recorder that could be wired with a 15 m LAN cable (actual distance would be about 12m), which I found disappointing for the price. Other than that, the initial setup was easy and its accompanying software was useful. Its alright, but ph service is a joke.
I've found this modem quite good. The performance seems to be OK, but to be honest it doesn't get overly worked in my home. The design is a little "Darth Vader-ish" but truth be told, they pretty much get hidden away most of the time.
The worst thing is when it started to drop out one day - apparently it was in need of a software update. Great, but you can only do this via a cable (which is hard to find some old laptop with an ethernet connection in this wireless world these days) bust anyway I persisted for this performance enhancing upgra
... Read morede. What Netgear actually needs to desperately upgrade is its help centre. What a joke that is. Firstly, the poor people are barely audible when you can actually get hold of them, and then they're hard to understand. You wait for about 15-30mins to get hold of someone and if you get disconnected, don't even hope to get back to the same technician or get a call back. For $300 you actually expect more. My advice - get a modem from Aldi if you can, any worries, take it straight back!Great dual band router.
I reluctantly went out an updated my modem router after 7 years. except for the hefty price i am impressed with the ease of use and adjustable settings.
Great router Netgear. Happy purchase. I hope it lives as long as my other router, which was not a netgear.
But Have had netgear previously years ago.
Works flawlessly for me so far....
I am always amazed when I read so many negative reviews for a product I own, my experience with this modem router has been positive. It was easy to install and has held a steady adsl 2+ connection from dodo ever since I installed it. In my home we have 3 ipads, 2 ps3's, 2 computers (ethernet) and 2 iphones and this unit has handled all of our WiFi requirements throughout the entire house without any issues. My connection speed to the internet has increased (not by huge amounts but it is a definite constant increase on my previous connection spe
... Read moreed) and our home WiFi is solid and fast enough for multiple users. That has been my experience so far with this modem router combination, I am surprised to read so many negative comments because that has not been my experience, so unless I am going to be in for some nasty surprise in the future I can't complain in any way about this unit. I like it so far and it works as advertised for me, there are many things which can go wrong with "the internet" and how we connect to it, maybe many of the problems people are experiencing are due to some other factors and not necessarily this modem router, just sayin.Happy
Bought this about 3 months ago. Have had no problems with it, and most importantly, there have been no drop outs. Our previous modem continued to drop out and became very frustrating. Only down side at this stage, is there is only and I repeat only 3 months phone assistance. If you have any further queries, either you purchase additional assistance which is an additional cost to you. Or else, use online service
poor wireless performance
Really poor wireless performance. Get something else. I'm 3mtrs away from the modem and i may as well be 100mtrs away.
Useless Firmware
I bought this router 3 months ago and I have to say it was very easy to setup. It did not improve my speed in anyway but was a lot more reliable than the Dynalink I got from my provider. The problem started when I updated the firmware and I suddenly could not connect to the 5Ghz band. I rolled back to see if I could fix the problem but the only thing it did was disable wifi internet access. I started using my old router which I now believe is a lot better than this.
Very easy setup
firmware upgrades are useless
Bad Firmware (Security Feature)
Firmware does not allow restricting a service (port forwarding) to multiple WAN servers. This was a feature available in previous Netgear model DGN2200 (more than 2 yrs old) and given that this is a newer model expected it to work the same or even better.
Spent two hours on a support call and had to argue with the consultant for it to be escalated to level 2 support and then found out from the level 2 consultant that other customers experienced this issue and they still haven't resolved this issue.
Easy for setup and good for basic users
Bad firmware and would not recommend for advanced users
Disappointed
Bought this as a replacement for my other modem/router which quit after just 15 months.......brand starts with an N too.
Set up was easy, but surprisingly the speed was lower than the previous modem/router, a lot in fact. Not possible to watch streaming video with it. Did a speed test to confirm it.tried to improve it with software update, but no difference.
Signal on our 2nd. floor was ok, but with the low speed it was useless. Ended up selling it second hand for half price.
Easy to set up, great software
slow speed

It seems probable that others have had WiFi rather than modem/router failure and that the Netgear AC1200 D6200 was neither their nor my problem. Telstra should have been able to tell me this instead of providing some other suggestions, among which were that my Telstra T-Gateway modem/router had ceased functioning.
