Domestic Express Post

Hi,
I have been waiting on an express post sent on Monday 17th February. The sender lodged a case on the 20th because it was taking too long. It says on the tracking page that the item was processed at Melbourne facility on the 19th and there was no update until yesterday when it was updated that the item was processed in Brisbane and expected to be delivered on 26th, but I still haven't received.
The tracking number is 60447086609093.

Domestic Express Post

I was supposed to receive an express post package yesterday as it was sent from Melbourne to Brisbane via express and was lodged at auspost in Melton at 1:30 on Thursday. My tracking says “it’s on it’s way” and should have arrived yesterday. I rang aus post and they said that there was a problem reading the address (doesn’t make sense as I have a photo of it and it couldn’t be any clearer) And that it is at the Brisbane facility waiting to be sent out manually to my area so I wasn’t going to receive it in time. They said there is a chance it might arrive for Saturday delivery .. is this true? Even though it does not have a Saturday sticker on it (due to it not needing one when it was sent!) are you able to provide any more feedback on my package? 0001006060482326670991

Hi Cynthia
I've checked our internal tracking site and can see that multiple times the processing centre had an issue with your parcel during the sortation time. As one of my colleagues explained to you this could be due to the address reading issue. Based on our experience, if the parcel address label is damaged, the machine face difficulties to read the address. I can see that we have already raised this issue with the delivery centre (Case no 30037883) I would like to contact them again. Please provide the following details:
Parcel contents description & value

Australia Post Domestic Postage

Hi Australia Post. If ever I needed your assistance it's now! We placed a request for the urgent renewal of a child passport with the Passport Office and it has been confirmed as sent via registered post on Monday 23 December. Tracking #: 560793052018. Problem is we leave the country on Wed 1 January and it still hasn't arrived, plus it's not showing on your tracking system. Can anyone help locate it for us? I'm happy to drive anywhere in Sydney to collect it. I've been told that registered post can't be tracked but I just can't believe this could be true! Bronwyn

Domestic Express Post

Hi
Express Post parcel delayed for 5 days. Left N.S.W morning time and was scanned at Brighton Le Sands at 1.17pm that same day, had time to get here to the Gold Coast by next business day, but didn't. Instead it was sent to Melbourne Packing Facility VIC, scanned Sunday early morning and nothing. Very upsetting and stressful thinking there's no present for my child.
Should have arrived on time, have it here to give to my daughter on xmas day as Christmas gift. Expecting this to arrive today, Monday 23rd looked for any movement, notifications etc,but no mention of where it is. "Today nothing, the last date to recive my express post parcel is tomorrow 24th December" I truly hope that this parcel arrives by tomorrow, that's last day and then it's
(Wednesday 25th - Xmas Day) no gift to give my daughter.
I hope this is truly on it's way.

Are you able to get an alternative today and return this one once it arrives?

Hi,
Theres not much the customer service department can do as it is out of there hands.
They can only locate where the parcel is but cannot expedite the process.
The problem is lack of staff in these holding facilities.
They do not employ additional staff during the Christmas period.
I find this rather annoying as Auspost are making plenty of money regardless of the late delivery of parcels.
Management dont really care as they are making plenty too.
In future use another carrier, I am.

My parcel still says "your parcel is coming" but has yet to be scanned at a processing facility. The sender has assured me it has been sent. I have rang customer support but have been told that until it is scanned they can't help me. This is an express post item which I should have received today. Can you please advise why there is no further tracking information?

1 answer
Australia Post
Michael M.Australia Post

Hi Lisa,

There's current delays due to the fires and weather we've had all month, unfortunately can affect mail nationally. It means tracking may be slow but we're delivering over the weekend and multiple times a day to some areas. If you don't receive this by today, I would recommend touching base with the sender to have them help look into it as we'd need to know the lodgement details to assist.

This has been my experience with Australia Post as well. They just go dark and there is no response. It's no secret that this is a busy time, but any normal business would provision for this. ie put on more staff.

Australia Post
Michael M.Australia Post

Hi Winnie & GnikWerdna,

We were prepared for Christmas (we do a hiring drive for casuals and support staff to boost our numbers quite a lot, usually with the prediction of a 30% or more rise in volume and we get more transport and contracts for aircraft to handle Express increases i.e in the contact centre we hired 250 new staff for the three months of Christmas), what we weren't prepared for was for state emergencies since October due to extreme weather and fires. While Melbourne has been avoiding the fire season, any delays interstate or for inbound international items through Sydney will cause backlog that when eventually released it will cause delays nationally and cause a hold up through the last mile facilities while they attempt to clear out the offload.

What we have done is got more fleets on the roads, more aircraft and support for the last mile deliveries today. We had to negotiate this and with the unpredictability on the situation in some states, it's been a tough year. Beyond any other year.

Can I grab the tracking number Winnie? Items travel in bulk, usually via a mail bag of a few hundred or a conveyor system of 30,000 so we can't always be exact on your item until it's manually handled in last mile. We'll take a look and advise further though.

Why doesnt Auspost update the tracking? I see when they receive it, and could be two weeks before they enter or update, its coming today!
WhaTs the point of having tracking numbers if you cant track it.

If you are receiving post it is up to the sender to give you this info (the tracking number) if the tracking number never came through it is possibly because the sender was lazy with forwarding this info as soon as received

Shane

This doesnt answer the question, I get the tracking number, after the sender sends it, its up to the Auspost to update the tracking. But that never happens, I have screenshots showing 2 weeks from Auspost receiving the package, and nothing til the day its delivered. Whats the point of tracking numbers? Is Auspost too lazy to update?

Australia Post
Priscila L.Australia Post

Hi Shane,

I am seeing quite a few parcels not receive any scans until the day of delivery, could be because of the high volumes and delays were experiencing right now so we're very the opposite to lazy right now! We've added thousands of casual staff and working overtime. In transit scans are not a guarantee and you may only see a scan at two points before the day of delivery. I replied to your other question too so feel free to let me know the tracking number if you want assistance.

I paid for a parcel to be sent road express and it took the same time as standard shipping after it having spent a week 'delayed' in Melbourne. I just paid extra for the standard service. It's happened twice. I used express because I was on a time frame and needed the goods in time, but unfortunately due to the substandard postal service I never got my parcel in time. Very disappointing.

Hi Angela,

There's no doubt that Black Fridays sales made us busier than ever been in history with 13 millions parcels in a network just this past Friday. We also were experiencing some delays due to storms and bush fires so our entire network was very busy. Can you please provide me both tracking numbers for express that were late? Are you the sender or receiver?

How come a parcel I sent on Tuesday hasn't left the post office yet? The tracking number is R348154027269860006120909

1 answer
Australia Post
Priscila L.Australia Post

Hi djr,

The parcel has definitely left the Post Office as all parcels lodged that day are picked up at the end of the day. It may be a few days in between scans and you won't see a new scan until it's at the next point. We need to allow three business days from the lodgement day for this one to arrive and if it doesn't arrive by Monday morning then we can certainly log a complaint but it's normal that there may not be any scans until the day of delivery.
