Dont sign up! Wrost service. Dodgedy contracts. Terrible value.
I joined next gen at the beginning of last year. I cant even think of a positive thing to write. They promised a pt session where a plan would be written out for me - never happened. They promised someone would show me how to use the equipment - never happened. I basically just used the gym to go to classes. I would always book online, however when i would arrive at the class (most times) the class was full and people would fight to get the equipment or you would miss out - even if you had booked. What's the point of an online booking system? O...Read more
n top of that, i could hardly ever get a park which would make me late and sometimes miss classes as i would drive around for 15-20 minutes waiting for a park. My friend parked on the road out of frustration and was left a nasty note saying if she parked there again next gen would suspend her membership. I then fell pregnant and asked to temporarily cancel (or put on hold) my membership. I was told i had to get a doctors letter (which was fine) and then they would also charge me $30 per month for the privilege of not using their gym while i was pregnant. I was disgusted. I told them about the lack of service, the lack of parking and they did not care less. Hence i was so disappointed in them i said i would just continuing paying my normal rate until the end of my contract (even though i wasn't using the gym due to my pregnancy), and wont come back at all after i have the baby. Ill join somewhere else. They didn't seem to care. I was supposed to receive 8 weeks free at the end of my contract - this didn't happen. They continued charging me. After chasing this up, i received a refund from when i enquired about it only - not beforehand. After i received the refund they still continued to charge me - even to this day! I am now enquiring about another refund! Ive been told there is a loophole and ive 'automatically' been rolled over to another contract. What a muck around! Its time i don't have as i actually own and run a company with 260 employees myself! I am not the type of person who normally writes reviews, but the poor service, lack of caring and lack of attention to detail have motivated me to take time out of my day to write this to save someone else the headache of dealing with next gen. Join elsewhere. It may look like they have good facilities but everything else lets it down. Including the management who obviously don't seem to care less. Bad service. Lack of management. Dodgedy contracts. Terrible value. Dont care. Unethical.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Dont sign up to Next Generation Newmarket/Parnell
I have found the Next Generation gym in Newmarket/Parnell to be totally unforgiving when trying to cancel my contract. They were extremely eager to sign me up, and couldn't wait to hand me the pen to put my signature on the dotted line, with the promise...."Oh, don't worry, I am sure we can work something out if your circumstances change" .... to "No, there is absolutely No Way we can cancel your contract without paying over $900' I have been there for just over 2 years and my financial circumstances have drastically altered. Awful, Awful club!!
I joined a gym in March of last year and signed up to a 12 month contract with fortnightly direct debits from my account. I was not given a copy of my contract.
I opted to cancel my direct debit and membership at the end of this March (at the end of my 12 month contract) and I was informed by the gym that I could not do this and would have to give 3 months notice and allow the gym to continue taking money from my account for the next 3 months.

Absolutely terrible company- Do not join
My wife and I have been members of this Gym for two years and these people have absolutely no morals. My wife is heavily pregnant and asked to cancel her membership as she would'nt be using it for the foreseeable future to which they responded that they need 3 months notice and that they will charge her for three months even though she is out of contract. Then then had the nerve to say- she can suspend her membership which means she cant use the facilities but they still charge $30.00 per month. This is apparently hidden in their fine print. t of absolute disgust, I got on the phone and cancelled both of our memberships. This will cost us the best part of $700.00 to cancel!!!! People- do not join this Gym, it is so not worth it!! The facilities are not that good, they literally do not value their customers and they give you nothing. What they really do not understand is that we have lots of friends who go to this Gym, we are locals and no lots of people in the area. My wife owns a business in the area. We will make it our mission to tell everyone not to be involved with a business which has absolutely no morals!! All they want is money money money- they take everything but give nothingSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good
They have good gym equipment, a bit pricey but great amenities such as squash courts, sauna, spa steam room. Would be good if they had a chill pool.

This gym seriously sucks
there are dirty towels and urine and faeces regularly on the floor of the "exclusive" changerooms. They have a booking system (phone or online), but never check bookings, so you can book and then arrive and there are not spots left, as those who haven't booked got there first. It is impossible to park there between 5-7pm. there are still no treadmills during peak hour, but they are still giving out free months to randoms. Broken equipment still takes more than a week to fix routinely. They ignore or are dismissive of feedback. The staff are (a...Read more
side from the personal trainers and instructors) snobby, patronising and unhelpful. Beware of the café if you are in a hurry - they have one person serving - if someone orders a coffee/ smoothie, this same person makes it, while everyone waiting to order remains in the queue. Terrible gym, bad response to feedback, arrogant staff. Sad, as so much potential. location, and had good potential badly run in every waySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Disgusting!
Manager never returns your calls. Really bad customer service, and contract is outrageous! I was sick and unable to attend gym with medical certificate- they refused cancellation and had no care about my health or well being. They made no effort to help me out and ended up threatening to send debt collectors to a gym i dont use!
expensive, bad contract, bad customer service

Poor gym with poor attitude
I'm sorry I ever joined Next Generation Ryde. It is an overly expensive, messy gym with a poor layout and uninterested staff. Unorganised weights room with equipment left lying on the floor, more cafe and Internet space than gym space, members that disrespect the equipment and to top it off, when I tried to leave (after my 12 month membership) I find out I have to pay 6 x fortnightly payments before I can get out. 3 months and $315 before I can quit. Disgusting. When I contacted management about this they said that it was a regular complain but one they were prepared to do nothing about.
Expensive. Messy & unorganised. Inadequate weights room. Contract rip off.

Way over priced and not good value
I joined the club expecting amazing classes and great service - I am paying a premium to be a member after all. I was told the gold membership included a visitor pass that accrued once a month and could be redeemed anytime. This is not as it’s written in the contract but I was told the contracts are generic for all NG clubs and this club allowed you to redeem once accrued. Makes sense, why would the visitor’s pass expire before your membership – you’re paying extra to get the visitor pass! This was a complete lie and also, when I did bring a gu...Read more
est they didn’t get the use of a towel, even though I pay an extra amount on my membership to have the towel included. Seriously, how cheap is that? I’m paying $75 per fortnight! Apart from the visitor pass and towel, the classes for the most part are average at best. I have a second place I go for yoga as the yoga classes are really not great. I am very disappointed with the quality of the classes and the customer service. I will not be continuing my membership and I am writing this review as I wish someone had stopped me before I signed up and wasted my money. Very poor customer service and low quality classesSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

NG - Adelaide. Unbelievably Arrogant Senior Management! NO stars!
I joined this 'club' exactly a year ago. From the outset, I found it elitist and unwelcoming. The change rooms and Bistro chairs are left quite grubby by the 'superior', and little is cleaned up.
That's the good news! NG does not notify when the contract is ended; they just keep direct debiting!
Yet when trying to cancel? Suddenly that contract becomes all important:
I get marketing emails from them, but could not get a cancellation form until I had made four requests-and that was just yesterday (I got no reply on two previous occasions)!

Appalling service
Was a member at Kings Park untill recently, about 10% of the staff are really nice...the other 90% are ignorent, unfriendly types who dont even greet you as you enter the venue.
The staff in the gym itself always seem to busy with there eyes glued to a computer screen than to say hello hows your fitness going, anything I can suggest or help you with...the whole vibe is just a lacklustre affair.
The pool and the spa and sauna are too often left dirty.
The music is almost schitzophrenically bad, dont ever forget your ipod or mp3 if your wo...Read more
rking out here! The music feels like it belongs at some mid 90's rave party! The canteen staff are often rude aswell, often chatting amongst themselves and laughing boisterously rather than make an effort with their customers. The internet on the computers that they provide in the lounge is so slow its almost unusable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

group fitness program needs a major overhaul-no consistency taught, handful of good instructors make it worthwhile,NO LES MILLS- body pump/attack/combat...sat am is boring.
setting, parking, facility is modern, well maintained, camp generation (holiday program)for 6+
airconditioning in group fitness rooms poor (no fans in aerobics room)
creche staff unmotivated, group fitness program average

Not enough facilities for the number of new members
Have been a member of Kings Park for a while. It's a nice location but recently I've noticed the member numbers have increased to the point where I can no longer enjoy the facilities. I joined because I thought the higher price would keep member numbers in check but I was wrong. Now I can never find a car space after work and have a number of times just had to give up and go home! When I do get there, I notice most of the machines are full and it's really frustrating me! If they're going to just accept new members willy-nilly, they need to prov...Read more
ide enough facilities for the number of members. Either that, or they need to stop accepting new members. It's really not a good environment anymore and I will be terminating my membership. On a side note - I also believe the terms of their contract breach the new Competition and Consumer Act and I have already made a complaint with the ACCC. Good opening hours Not enough facilities to cope with memberships, not enough maintenance of facilities, not enough car parking, too crowded, restrictive contract terms.Similar opinion? Next Gen Adelaide is not what it used to be
I used to be a member of Next Gen Memorial Drive. A once great gym when it opened, that went downhill and showed no respect to the loyalty of its customers.
Staff were arrogant, rude and unhelpful and seemed to think that working there made them something special.
Equipment was dirty and not maintained, with pieces sometimes out of use for over a week.
Changerooms were not kept clean, with towels laying around and rubbish left in lockers and on the floor.
They changed the weights gym to a 'PT Zone', which meant it could only be used if you were receiving personal training or had the top level of membership (both of which cost much more).

Excellent
I joined when it first opened 2007 and it has been a integral part of my lifestyle. I joined mainly for the heated indoor and outdoor pools & spa because public pools are so crowded. I figured at the high price there would be less people and indeed I usually get a lane to myself after 7pm.
Has huge range and frequency of classes. Although usually geared toward women, men can enjoy them too. Almost everyday there's yoga & Zumba. The gym has a huge range of equipment. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Although it's main clientele are the r...Read more
ich "upper class" types, everyone is welcome. It's been one of the best decisions I ever made. Great facilities, indoor and outdoor pool. Opens till late every night, open public holidays. Friendly staff. Feels like an exclusive club, which it is, due to high price. Very expensive. Huge joining fees so try to join when they're waived. Locked box provided with "500" membership is only as big as my fist-should be big enough to store a pair of shoes.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A great health club, has a beauty spa, cafe, great creche facilities with trained staff and school holiday program called Camp Generation. Great facilities and equipment, friendly staff and a roof top pool which is gorgeous. Plenty of parking as well as being close to pubilc transport. I love this place its like my second home! 2 thumbs up.
Kings Park location is stunning.
Does cater for the overly wealthy, however they dont make you feel to inadequate.

Do I need to be a member at a Next Gen club if I just want to swim for an hour? Is there some kind of entry fee for that?

Next Gen make you pay for everything....!
You cant even bring friend in for free to play squash after you've booked a court, and let me tell you it's no fun playing squash on your own...!
Hey Felicity, no it's a members only club. Gold members have an allocation of guest passes each year so they may bring a number of friends/family members in a with them. (Yes Ian - very handy for a game of tennis and squash if you'd like to have a hit with a non-member, it's not very easy on your own!) If you're considering joining call the club on 1800 077 177 and arrange a tour and a trial visit. Or if you already know a member you could see if they'll allow you to join them as their guest and you can check it out!
