Only one basic flaw
It's taken me awhile to get around to this review but here it is. I have three hedges on a high maintenance section and I wanted to share my experience with the Ozito 600W hedge trimmer.
First up, let me say that hedges are a lot easier to maintain than a garden. I trim my hedges twice a year and appreciate a really good trimmer. I bought the Ozito 600W at a price I couldn't resist. It was an excellent weight for the job with a good reach but... the safety guard at the end of the blade was a dead loss. It kept catching on branches and slowe...Read more
d my work progress considerably. The branches I'm refering to were no more than the thickness of your finger. Sometimes a collection of stems was enough. I decided that as soon as the warranty expired, I'd find a way to remove the end guard even if I had to grind it off. It beat me to it as it broke after a couple of months work. This is a serious design fault on an otherwise excellent trimmer which I'd have been happy to keep otherwise. I received a refund from the hardware shop, reviewed other Ozitos which looked up to the job but settled for 'another make' which, while heavier than the Ozito 600W, was going for a better price. I'm very satisfied with it. While it doesn't have as long a reach as my Ozito had, I have a small Bosch P80L which I can use in one hand for very reachy places. Neither the Bosch nor my new 'other make' has the design fault (end safety guard) that my Ozito 600W had.Purchased in October 2021 at Bunnings NZ for A$89.00.

Good for the money
This is the first hedge trimmer I have owned or used, so please keep that in mind and I am only using this for light home use. before buying this I looked on the Choice website, and before looking at the products, I would have bought the Ryobi with similar specs. However, when I compared them in person the Ryobi was considerably heavier. This may say more about its build quality but who knows. What I do know is that it would be a lot more strenuous using it in the position I have in mind so I chose the lighter and cheaper ozito. It also has a 6...Read more
00mm cutting bar, which from my inexperienced opinion is better. Also, this unit has a 600W, 20mm cutting capacity, which was more than some others. I have only used this for a couple of hours so far, and I am happy with its performance. If anything changes, I'll post it here to let you know. But, for $99, I cant complain!!

When operating in a horizontal plane, its all OK, however when it is turned up in a vertical position the unit power cuts off and stops operating. How do you fix this?

I don't recall any problem with use in the vertical position. I thought it was an excellent trimmer, sturdy with a good reach and not heavy for its size and capacity. One design fault was fatal, however. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to put a guard at the end of the blade. Unnecessary and a nuisance. After frequent catching and jamming, an end tooth (tine) broke off and I returned the machine to Bunnings. In my earlier review, I mistakenly said the end guard broke off (one side of it). No, it was one of the end teeth (tine) which broke off. My hedges are acmena and trimmed every six months so the twigs are not big. The problem is they gather at the guard, can jam the cutter blade and. apparently, put stress on the end teeth (tines).
Thanks, the trimmer is good apartment from turning itself off in vertical position. Its like it has Fluid switch which only allows it to work in horizontal position .Will talk to Bunnings but unable to locate purchase docket.
This is second trimmer I have bought in the last 3 years, and both had the same problem.Seeing that other people have this problem as well, make me think there is a problem with this model-600 cutting in and out, like the handle switch, not getting 240 power, or bad connection -I use 4 times a year-I have had this one a little over 18 months--
