How was our Cruise with the Aria?
Being very upset with P&O Management for diddling us I found that our Cruise itself for 2 weeks was great. It was to a very high standard in both Staff and Food. We had Tea 2 times each at the Waterfront, Angelo's and the Dragon Lady and once at the Salt Grill and they where all to the highest standard in my Book. Breakfast and Lunch we had every Day at the Pantry. Also all Teas when not eating at the Restaurants. The only fault I found was no Fridge in the Cabin and that Bathtub. Getting Water to run out of the Shower Head and not the Tap is ...Read more
a lost battle. My advise for those thinking of sailing with P&O is do not book early but about 3 - 4 weeks before sailing date in case they run a special and fleece the early Bookers again like happened to us. I did speak with a few Passengers in regards to their booking and found most booked early, paid the full price and did not know about the 3 month long special that in the end had the price 40% cheaper than what we paid as early Bookers. We did get hit twice as cost for Drinks and other Items where more dearer then what we paid on the Jewel in December last year. An example, my Drink was mostly a Bourbon and Coke and that was $10.00 with being duty free. In Pups I am charged $7.00 for the same Drink. Over all P&O do give good service put they have no qualms in ripping you off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Will not go P&O again.
Travelled the Aria in Feb. 2018 to Hamilton Island from Brisbane. Nobody can help bad weather, but certainly there could be something done about the service. Can not complain about it as there wasn't any to complain about. Could not get it to Angelos or Red Dragon restaurants. kept getting turned away as saying that they were booked out. Staff rude seen one staff member smile the whole seven days we were on board. Been on 11 cruises do not wish to travel with p&o again. Will be only going Princess from now on. ...Read more
At least you feel like you are welcome. Drinks packages are a joke. Once the staff see you have the lot package they will go and serve the people without a package first and make the ones with packages wait and honestly this could be up to 35mins. Caught restaurant staff out by asking for a booking for our group of 8 people every night got sick of being turned away, so the second last night of the cruise asked for a booking for two and got in??? When in there as i thought there were numerous empty tables for at least 1.5hrs. Seem to be pushing people away to eat in the pantry. Last day mentioned this at the main desk and oh surprise all of a sudden we got a table for 8 the last night at Angelos booked by the main person at the main desk of the ship. I am a person that is very easy going, will very rarely say or complain about much at all. But this was over the top. And i suppose if someone doesn't say something nothing will be done to better P&O service to their customers. I could go on with much more that my family were not happy with but is it really going to make a difference? Even though I would like to think so, I feel P&O have a lot of work to do to regain not only my confidence but a lot of other people's confidence as well, to continue to travel with them. After all the best advertising is by word of mouth.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Don't listen to bad reviews!
From the moment my husband and myself arrived at the port in Brisbane, to when we disembarked this morning, everything was perfect.
Everything was so well organised and check in was a breeze, lots of staff around to help and answer questions.
Once onboard, luggage was delivered quickly, so got unpacked and started exploring.
All the crew we found to be polite, very friendly and helpful, our room was very clean and everything you need is there.
We tried to dine somewhere different most nights, (missed out on the
Dragon Lady, but that's o...Read more

Extremely dissatisfied
My favorite part of the cruise were the onshore day trips. As for my experience, along with my party of 8 travelers, we were all very disappointed overall. The staff were lovely. The food was very good. But it ended there.
We were all guaranteed automatic cabin upgrades, but all ended up on deck 4, the LOWEST & NOISIEST deck on the ship. YOU CAN'T go any lower on the ship. We were all on the lowest down grade.
My partner & I were in cabin 4108, which was apparently next to the engine room, or next to some mechanical area which was so noisy ...Read more

Worst holiday of my life
I would not let my worst enemy go on a place like this. Horrible in every aspect. This was an expensive prison sentence. Do yourself a favor and go to bali instead

Amazing cruise
All crew members including waitresses, cleaners, entertainers and ALL other crew members were exceedingly nice. They all went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and treated us like family. Great holiday. Really is like no place on earth.

Very disappointing
Booking process was painful, from long waiting to poor service.
Accommodation: good bed but all very dated. Generally comfortable.
Food : HORRIBLE. The WATERFRONT was very limited in options and horrible service. PANTRY : repetitive, no taste, no healthy alternatives. ANGELOS and LADY DRAGON: BOTH great service and better prepared food.
Entertainment: no good variety of options. Nothing for teens.
This was my first and last on Pacific Aria.

Worst ship I have ever sailed on....
Only first time cruisers could possibly give this ship a 5 star!!! I have been on many cruises and I have to say this has been the most disappointing ship I have sailed on so far. I had read the bad reviews and decided to take a chance anyway.. worst mistake ever.. While my cabin was in an excellent position, the cabins and ship are very old and outdated. My power point kept making my hair curler short out (buzzing and sparks) which made me worried about plugging in my expensive medical equipment.. 12 hours after numerous calls to front desk re...Read more
ception, with no response.. my daughter had to go and ask them for help as I didn't want to risk plugging my expensive oxygen machine into a faulty socket.. They finally come and told me it was only my hair curler even though it worked fine in my daughters cabin and has at home ever since.. I had no choice but to take the risk and plug my oxygen machine into it.. I had numerous toilet blockages including sewerage coming into my toilet.. but I have to say even worse than that was the FOOD.. The food was bland, mass produced and tasteless.. I stopped going to the Pantry pretty much from the get go and chose to eat in the restaurants instead but even this wasn't much of a step up.. So we were forced to endure 11 days and nights of poor quality food..(sadly, this was the most of what I had read about in the negative reviews too) P&O get your act together!! I had also bought gold passes for the kids so they could go on the flying fox etc during the cruise but the first 2 days it was closed due to bad weather.. we had 6 consecutive island hoping days so that only left the remaining 2 days they could really use it so we asked for a refund of which staff were rude and we were refused..my kids used none of it once.... so my advice is DO NOT prepay these passes.. only pay if your ready to do it... There is only 2 spas and both of them are in the main pool area and swamped with children.. there are no spas in the adult area.. To finish of the "highlight" of my cruise was struggling to get off with my oxygen machine for my lungs.. couldn't get in a elevator so decided to struggle with it down the stairs... had enormous difficulty and to add insult to injury a uniformed officer looked at me, seen me struggling but just decided to carry on his merry way offering no assistance... Only upside.. lovely staff as always...I love cruising and am very disappointed she is the main ship out of Brisbane as that is our home port.. Please P&O.. A decent ship for Brisbane would be great.. Pacific Aria.. while i respect your 23 years of trustworthy sailing.. I think your well overdue for retirement... Our next cruise is booked in April.. sorry P&O but Voyager of the Seas.. here we come...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Pacific Aria - beautiful sophisticated ship
Just back from a 7 night Pacific Island Hopper cruise on PACIFIC ARIA. Such a beautifully decorated ship and so many great lounge bars to relax in, our favourite was the Blue Bar - great music, comfy lounges and great cocktails.
Pleasant surprises on Aria:
- The decor on the ship is second to none, we found this a classier more 'adult' ship
- So many great restaurant options included in price, once on board book early! Pantry can get loud & busy we preferred Waterfront and Angelos
- Cabins are good size with lots of storage, heaps of co...Read more

I had couple of queries on cabin options, so telephoned the call center prior to making a booking. The staff member was more interested in selling me an upgrade and/or a package rather than answer my questions. Still I managed to make a booking online.
Upon boarding the ship and arriving at our cabin (with somewhat outdated decor), we realized that our shower is over bath-not great for a person recovering from a double fracture on an ankle. Went to reception to find out why there is no mention anywhere on the website that the cabin we booked...Read more
has such shower configuration and there is no photos. Was told that this is a normal practice to display a generic photo of a bathroom, not the actual bathroom we would get. My request to move us to a different cabin was met with response: "we are pretty booked and the likehood of a different cabin is low." The next sentence was gold: "We could try and speak to the spa manager and see if you could shower there." Just to clarify, I am nursing a double fractured ankle and reception staff offered me a lovely stroll twice a day from deck 5 to deck 11 to shower!!! The next morning, after returning from breakfast, we discovered a plastic stepper and a bracket attached to the bath with a clamp. Very classy-just to make sure that I don't feel like a cripple! Amenities offered on-board were average and same goes for the dining. Of course Salt Grill had amazing food, but a bit of a strange attitude from staff. We kept being reminded of the packages we did not purchase and one staff member tried to charge us for water. We found it bazaar. Disembarkation procedure is not explained at all on the website. It was unpleasant surprise to find out that we have to pack our suitcases and hand them in the evening before return to port or carry them with us in the morning. Coupled with the fact that we had to vacate the cabin at 6 am! That was later changed to 8 am, due to a storm and delayed arrival time. When asked the reception staff: "why is this information not mentioned on the website?" he just shrugged his shoulders.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great for family holiday
Booked rooms 4215 & 4219. Deck 4. Daughter, son in law & 17 month grand daughter in 1 room . Husband & I in roomnext door. Oceanview rooms.
Laundrette on decks 5 & 6 cost $3 for load of washing. $3 to dry.
The Pantry was great for all meals.
Only down side was that our 17 month old couldn't go in pool as she's still wearing a swim nappy. Cruise caters for kids mainly 3 yrs +.
We still had a great time.

Be very careful when booking onboard
I booked a future cruise on board which included a drinks package. When we boarded we discovered the drinks package had not been included in our booking even though it was written on our booking confirmation card. I have contacted P&O who accepted no responsibility nor compensation for this omission. I paid a premium for this cruise and feel I have not received what I paid for. I will not cruise with P&O again.

Apia cancelled before sailing. Cannot cancel cruise or lose deposit, all so Tonga cancelled on cruise. Pipe broke on deck 6 flooded cabins on deck 5 had to strip out at least 2 cabins nice smell of sewage for rest of cruise. Air con failed but given a small fan to keep cool not that i needed it the air con was so cold in the rest of the ship most people got colds. Toilets had a mind of their own some not flushing some overflowing. Pool went green on last day pitty it was a nice day. Menu changed once in 18 days food is not bad if you like roast...Read more
not much else. Sound system failed had to cancel shows and moves. But what got to me the most was the lack of things to do unless you had plenty of money god was it boring a lot of people started to play cards to stay sane. Have cruised 3 times with pan o but this will be the last never again, I did not bother complaining to p an o they are not interested.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Floating Nursing Home
Just disembarked from 18 night cruise Polynesion Passage. Extremely disappointed we didn't go to Nuku alofa apparently because of the weather conditions. If this ship was unable to go to port when the seas were not rough at all I would suggest it should not be chosen as a destination port. Interestingly a yachting couple were on board and happen to frequent this port in a yacht......they too very much questioned why we did not go to port in such good weather. Many of the passengers were of the same belief that it was not the weather that wa...Read more
s the reason for not visiting Nuku alofa. So rather than visiting Dravuni Island on a market day, we just putted around at sea and still went to Dravuni Island on a Sunday when all markets were closed. As one of the Dravuni Island residents said ."P and O want the passengers to spend their money on the boat....not on Dravuni Island." P and O certainly does seem to miss a lot of ports and lots of past passengers agree that sometimes the weather does not seem to be honest reason. Passengers are choosing these type of cruises to see places they have not seen before but are feeling very disappointed. Our airconditioning in our cabin was at an acceptable temperature on the 17 th night of the 18 night cruise. In the meantime it blew freezing air straight onto us in bed. We reported this several times but in the meantime both became very sick. The air conditioner mechanics had a couple of attempts to no avail. The Pantry, the Casino and parts of the Ocean Bar were also much too cold and I am sure this was causing passengers to become unwell. Once again we reported to several white coats and reception that these areas were too cold but nothing improved. We like to play trivia but gave up this time. The gentleman running the trivia entertainment could not read the questions or pronounce words and thought he was hilarious. A little bit of this type of entertainment was enough. A trivia game about Disney characters and Frozen weren't really appropriate for 70 year olds. The food in the Pantry would be good if you enjoyed pork !!!! We had roast pork, blackened pork, sticky pork, pulled pork or baked ham, curried pork and glazed pork. Roast duck was the only meal served hot throughout the whole cruise. The best place to get a really hot plate was at the cheese bar!!!, The most unpleasant lady at the cheese bar where she gave you three wafer thin mini triangles of cheese and one tiny piece of Brie always seemed to find a nice hot plate !!! I always asked nicely for more cheese please and she begrudgingly counted out three more mini triangles !!!, The repetition and basic presentation of all the food in the Pantry was a disgrace. We did try the Waterfront restaurant to try a wafer thin veal schnitzel served with a very basic lettuce, quarter slice of cucumber and quarter of tomato salad. We also tried Angelos but not impressed with baked cauliflour as entree served on a plate out of the cold room and presented on something orange with four raisins and barely steamed cauliflour. The salmon was dry and presented on top of the same potato chunks as the pantry. All in all the food presentation and variation was disgusting. When first we booked we wanted to go to Apia and Two ports in Tonga. When Apia was not going to be a destination, P and O did not give us a chance to reschedule a cruise. The Captain of the ship seemed to disappear after he made his announcement that we were not going to Nuku alofa. He did not even thank the passengers before we disembarked. We now have done five cruises and this captain has been the only one who did not bother to mingle with the paying passengers. The sound system apparently was faulty and entertainment in the Marquee had to be cancelled. That's fine, things do break down but P and O was still able to have sound to do Bingo????????? It seems all about the money!!!! Our cabin boys were great and staff at bars and reception were good. Staff at pantry good except for cheese bar lady who might get a bonus for not giving out too much cheese.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

very disappointing with p&O
we booked a cruise 1 year ago and we were not offered any packages. now the cruise is on sale and we could of saved $2000 yet they still wont let us upgrade without canceling our existing booking. my partner and I are very upset with this. I can either cancel, lose our room and give them $500 cancellation fee and purchase another package in another room and pay an extra $773 or keep our existing room for another $1400

P&O: The passenger Pirates! Standards walking the plank!!
We have just completed our fourth P&O cruise and our second on the Pacific Aria, and probably our last P&O cruise!
At the outset, I have to say that we have no issues with the ship itself, which we both love, nor with the majority of the crew, who were splendid.
However, we have noticed an exponential decline in the standards of the catering aboard P&O ships, since our first P&O cruise on Pacific Dawn in 2015.
The Waterfront Restaurant portions sizes have become more and more abbreviated, as have the menu choices.
In 2015 on the Dawn, the...Read more
