So it is that time again when my pool cleaner needs TLC. Background: I live amongst trees and use a pool blanket. I have had four of these in 12 years replaced for different reasons. One frequent fault is the cleaner's flapper causes the holding plate to vibrate just enough to wear around the recessed lugs. This make the plate loose enough to 'suck' onto the flapper stopping it from moving. I have used Stainless Steel screws or 'Knead It' fibreglass to fix the problem by inserting them at the worn point/s. While this extends the cleaning actio...
Read moren life, the hoses are rubbish and at $139 for new hoses (10 x $13.90), I've replaced the whole unit ($199) to save ongoing issues with the flapper. When 1 hose begins to split you can guarantee the others will follow closely. I have read the product reviews of many others and at double the price for (maybe) double the life, I feel that this cleaner performs adequately at a few dollars per week. Just expect a complete unit change-out every 2-3 years and you'll be less disappointed.

ok for the price
Good customer service over the phone. The unit itself is Good for the $188 i paid. My only gripeis that I have trouble with it going up the shallow end.

Sometimes good for clean pools
Great price and works like a charm some of the time over some parts of the pool as long as there are no leaves.
Easy to set up - but gets blocked easily by leaves - just hates casurina needles. If there are no leaves it will go like a charm for days and clean up scunge and sand on the bottom, but times it just stops for no apparent reason - then equally will just start again.
It rarely gets to the far end of the pool and unfortunately every now and again it just ties itself in knots.

Positive review of HyClor Slider Vac
Searches on Hy Clor Slider Vac seem to bring me here so here's my review. It's early days but my $249 Slider Vac works no better or worse than the similar product I paid the ridiculous sum of $700 for 12 years ago. So, it's effective enough though it spends too much time on the walls, doesn't do ledges or steps, misses bits and thumps rather loudly much of the time (only run it during the day).
Relatively cheap and reasonably effective.

Is this a review of the Poseidon or the Hy Clor? I'm looking at buying a Hy Clor Slider but this is the only review I can find that appears to be relevant.

OK
An expensive, but essential item. Although this brand does vaccuum well, getting the suction to actually start is difficult. Sometimes the ony way I can get it to vaccumm the whole pol is to get in the pool with it, and direct it around. When this one fails altogether, I will definitely look for another brand.
Well it does vaccuum well, nearly all sand and leaves and dead insects are sucked up. Its relatively easy to assemble.
After having it for less than year, I found that when vaccumming, it goes around and around one circle. Even worse, sometimes it just stays sucking in the one spot.
Questions & Answers
I have newly tiled my pool. My Hy-Clor Mk2 worked adequately on the old marble sheen surface ( abit of the usual tracking) but does not consistently move forward on the new tiles even though it is pulsating healthily. Also it does not seem to be sitting consistnetly flat on the bottom of the pool. Any suggestions?
Is there a larger bump ring available to replace the 330 one supplied as standard? I have a small pool with square corners and the cleaner gets s=tuck in the corners. I suspect a bigger diameter bump ring may be the solution? Thanke Rich
Make sure your hose is the right length. Rule being that the house needs to be one meter longer than the pool. I have also had more success with continuous hose rather than the 1 meter sectional hose ...
Read moresystem supplied with the cleaner. For a small square pool with hard corners you could also try reducing the one additional meter .I have a Hy-clor Poseidon MK2 Automatic, I'm finding it won't go up the walls.
I didn't have the poseidon model Kathy. If you call their customer service their tech help is great, but customer service poor
