7-Speed Classic, 6-Speed, Singlespeed, etc...bad quality control sub-standard
After calling the Sydney store twice to make sure my wife's bike was ready and explaining I was travelling 100km's to pick the bike up. The bike was not safely inspected. After wheeling the bike out the front door to put it on my bike rack I noticed two flaws - Major concern was front tire not properly seated into rim-very dangerous and the back fender had dent in it. After paying $350.00 for the package and not all items supplied and calling to make sure everything was ready. VERY VERY disappointed. In all fairness the product not supplied will be posted to my home address.

Bad costumer service and bad quality control

Pretty to look at, but not for life
I had been looking for a vintage-style bike for ages, and was pleased to discover Reid's new coloured-range of vintage-style affordable bikes were to be released last Christmas.
My mint bike is beautiful, and receives lots of compliments.
However, the quality is not phenomenal. I ride my bike about 50km per week, and although it usually holds up, I have had some issues already with the quality. It is a very fragile bike. The other day my loving husband accidentally knocked me off the bike, and for a small fall, the metal on the front whee...Read more
l had completely bent out of shape. The metal is very thin, delicate, and scratches easily. The back wheel tube lasted me less than one month. The brake pads are very fine. The white seat stains very easily and even with bleach does not clean well - I would recommend upgrading to the tan seat. To be honest I think I will need to buy a new bike within the next two years as I have already had a few issues with this one. Appearance FragileSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Loving my 6-speed retro ladies bike!
I picked up a 6-speed reid retro ladies bike on the opening day of their Perth store and have been riding to and from the train station every day since. Have had no issues at all except the kick stand is a little loose, which I have tightened up by hand until I go back for the first service. There are two other Reid retro bikes in the cage I lock mine in and a few people had asked me about my bike when I'm leaving at night because they love how they look and they're always pleasantly surprised when I tell them how much it cost!
We'll be heading back in soon to get my boyfriend a City2 Hybrid so we can ride together.
Great starter bike. Smooth ride. Love the colour range! Nice staff in Perth shop.

Great Choice, Great Value!
I was looking for a birthday present for my fiance and came across the Reid Vintage range. She loved them instantly. We went to the Sydney store on Parramatta Road. Huge shop... really busy on the Saturday we went, but someone called [name removed] served us who was really helpful, and thanked us for being patient. My fiance test rode a baby blue bike, and within 10 minutes we were walking out the shop with it, along with a load of free stuff. She had a puncture a week later, but the cause a piece of glass she obv rode over, GRRR at Manly Counc...Read more

Can't Be More Disappointing
Bought two from their shop recently for riding to work with my partner considering that it's fairly cheap and new. Within 4 weeks, both of our bikes have broken tyres more than three times, both seats went broken (mine just dropped down even im very light, fixed it in their shop n no help) and gears started making funny noise. Also the Bike is ridiculously heavy and built by very bad metal. My bike stand and the metal which cover the chain just came off easily. Remember to bring a toolbox if you bought one or Simply Don't Buy It.
Nice colour and 50 dollars cheaper than a proper brand
Really Bad Quality even other bike dealers recognized this brand and gave us a funny look

Blue Vintage Road Bike
When I was purchasing the bike Reid Cycles staff couldn't be more helpful. The young guy with the tats and stretchers was awesome. However, since I've had the bike I have had numerous issues. First the break was loose and rattling, and the gears crunched when I changed them, and eventually the lowest gears didn't work at all and the lever wouldn't even click into them. I took it in to be serviced at Enmore Road store, they fixed the break and re-aligned the gears while I waited. Great, quick service.
A month or so later the gears had the sa...Read more
me problem again, the chain guard got caught in the chain while riding and ripped off, and the bell fell off. I took the bike to the new Parramatta Road store, I was told it would be ready on Sunday to pick up, and that someone would call me before then. No one called me, at 4:00pm Sunday I called Reid to be told they were closed, the bike wasn't fixed, and they would do it Monday morning first thing. This was very inconvevnient as I work full time and Reid closes at 5, it looked like I wasn't going to get my bike back for a week. I asked if I could pick it up after 5 as I worked full time, they said yes and asked me to call back on Monday to confirm. Monday lunch time I called, a man answered, I explained the situation, he said in monotone 'your bike is not done, we will call you when your bike is ready' I explained the situation, he just repeated himself. I asked to speak to the manager 'no one is available, all I can offer is to call you back'. Given their history with call backs, I refused this offer and said I would call back in 10 minutes. After calling 5 times, finally someone answered. This guy said the bike was not fixed. I explained how I'd been told first Sunday, then Monday, and now I wanted my bike fixed today. He was apologetic and said he would personally wait back after closing so I could pick up the bike that day. I picked up the bike and took it home. The chain guard had been hasitly hammered flat and reattached, dirty and deformed. The gears were exactly the same, and now the brakes were stiff and unyielding. I crashed on the way home into the back of a car because the brakes failed. Minutes after a service.1 comment

Alright but poor service
Tyres are too narrow so the ride feels bumpy. Looks good and super cute.
Service was fine at first. But when I went to pick it up I first noticed they gave me the wrong color basket. Because I 'complained' they didn't offer to give the complimentary gifts, I had to ask for it. Did not mind waiting for them to change the basket. Half way through changing the basket I noticed that they gave me the wrong red color bike (fluoro red is hideous). Gold stars for customer service
I recently bought a Vintage Ladies Bike from Reid and because I'm based in Perth, it has to be shipped over to me; partially assembled. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to assemble a bicycle myself and neither does most of my friends! I emailed them asking for assembling instructions because the stores were going to charge me $200! They sent it to me along with some advise and put me in contact with a Perth-based guy that could assemble my bicycle for me at a cheaper rate.
Naturally, I tried assembling it myself (I got too excited!) and hi...Read more

Very happy customer!
Just wanted to say thanks so much for a great transaction!
I picked up the bike from the Brisbane store on Saturday. The guys were so lovely and when the bike didn't fit in my car they were nice enough to take a part of it off and try and help me get it in.
Great service and have already reccomended Reid Cycles to 3 people.
Thanks :)

Beautiful bike!
Absolutely adore my new black vintage ladies bike! Bought it in Melbourne to take with me to Perth for a few months for work. Have been riding to and from work every day and don't know how I've put up with public transport for so long. I get compliments all the time about how lovely it looks and on the cute basket. It's perfect for trips to the markets and looks divine carrying a bunch of fresh flowers. Couldn't be happier!
Inexpensive and included lots of great freebies like a pump, water bottle and lights.

Love my new retro red and white bike, it looks very stylish, and is very comfortable to ride, i no longer have to hunch over to ride my bike (my old bike had the straight handle bars).I will be taking my new bike for spins around the river followed by coffee at one of the cafe's.
Called it "The red road runner"
I love the look of the new bike and the nice comfy handle bars, the service I received from Reid Cycles was excellent

Gorgeous bike!
My lovely friends bought me the pink vintage ladies retro bike from your online store for my 30th birthday. She is just so pretty and stylish, I named her Mademoiselle.
Mademoiselle is a joy to ride and I get so many compliments on how cute she is. I thought at first that I would just use this bike to get around my local area, to meet friends for coffees on weekends, but I have been riding to and from work and saving money on petrol and parking
Gorgeous design, easy to ride

Hi, I'm going to buy the Reid Vintage Classic Petite 24" bike, does anyone know if it's designed for a child's seat to be on the back? Thank you in advance.
1 answer
Hello Amarente,
Unfortunately a Child Carrier / Seat will not work on the Vintage Classic Petite 24" Bike as it is not a Full size Bike. For a Child Carrier to ba able to succuessfully fit onto a bike it will need to be at least require the bike to have 26" or 700C size wheels.
Kind Regards,
Reid Cycles.

Hi, I have had this for a year, and my wife only rode it twice in that time. Trying to get it ready again for her to ride last week, i realized parts of the braking surface on the rims were peeling off in chunks. Now where and how do i get replacement for these? Front and back wheels. Could i use any road bike wheels and slap on the 7 speed cassette?
1 answer
Reid sells replacement wheelsets for $70 (you get both wheels). But there's nothing to peel off the braking surface: these surfaces are bare alloy. Anything peeling off is therefore some kind of contaminant. I'd recommend taking it into a bike shop so a mechanic can take a look in person and advise.
Additionally, the wheels on these bikes don't have cassettes; they have an older (rare now) setup called a "freewheel". Although these look like cassettes, they're not interchangeable with them. So to fit a different wheel, you would either need a wheel that could accept the freewheel from this bike, or you would need a conventional ("freehub") wheel with a 7-speed cassette. I think these rims are also wider than a typical road bike rim, to take the wider tyres these bikes use.
So, in short, my guess is that there's nothing wrong with these wheels that cleaning won't fix; and that if they ever need replacing you're better off with the Reid parts.

Hi,
Unfortunately this review forum is currently inactive. Please phone our North Melbourne store on 9348 9892 and the staff will help you out.
If the bike is set up correctly, your feet should not be able to touch the ground when you're on the saddle.
