Excellent Product
I have used Sentinel Spectrum for many years and have seen zero side affects.
The product works well and we not had fleas or worms.
I highly recommend it from puppy through to an aged dog.
Purchased in December 2021.

Have always used Sentinel, but no more!
We’ve had our mixed breed on Sentinel his whole life (8 yrs), and we are suddenly having a flea problem. He doesn’t have a history of fleas. I don’t know if the formula changed, or what happened, but lately it seems that the Sentinel isn’t even stopping the cycle. If I have to buy a separate pill for fleas, then what is the point to keep buying this?

Seizures after single use
My healthy happy 7.5 year old english bulldog started having seizures 8 hours after first dose. 2 months later she is on seizure meds and still suffering. Terrible chemical.

Seizures
Ever since my German Shorthaired Pointer was 3 moths old she was given Sentinel. At about 4-1/2 months she started having seizures. From that age until she was about 3-1/2she would have 8-12 petite mal seizures a year. Sometimes having cluster seziures (more than 10) in a single week. Ranging from a minimum of 30 minutes until a maximum of 1-1/2 hours. YES a minimum of 30 minutes. My vet diagnosed her as epileptic. I tried tons of different things, I received second opinions and even tried anti seizure medication and a range of different dog fo...Read more
ods and vitamins. I recall suggesting my concern several times that sentinel could be causing the seziures. Both vets insisted that it was a safe product and it was extremely unlikely, and they were positive that Sentinel was not causing her epileptic episodes. After a while I gave up and didn't know what to do. Out of desperation I tried one last thing against my Dr's advice and stopped giving my best friend Sentinel and started her on Heart Guard. It is been almost 2 years and she has had NO seziures and lives a completely normal life. I'm sure for some dogs Sentinel is safe but the bottom line is, it was not safe for my dog. Sentinel can cause seziures and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My Poodle hates this stuff
We can't persuade our dog to take this med, even when coated in peanut butter, pill pockets or cheese. She eats the good stuff and leaves the med. If we chop it up and mix it with anything else she won't eat it. It's a monthly trial and we need a better product.

Very expensive
Not worth the price if you cannot receive a rebate. Paid over $100 for 12 months and was denied rebate because purchased at a warehouse.

My puppy is having a reaction
I haven't noticed any difference in fleas, although he didn't have many in the first place, only got this product to prevent them as we live in a wooded area but i have noticed that my 3 month old Great Pyrenees/Catahoula mix puppy has been itching and now has some patches coming up that look like burns. It was his second vet visit and i received one monthly tablet to try for free, i wish i had read reviews beforehand. Any advice on what to do? I've never had a puppy have adverse effects from medicine.

Never seen a flea!
Have been using this for my two lagottos for nearly six years. One was rather wormy when we first got her but both have had no sign of pests since then .One was a bit loose in the bowels after dosing but I then realised that I should give it after her main meal not before, or with, and she is now fine. This same dog loves to eat them but the other dog must be enticed to eat the chew by putting it in a butter ball.

Would not use anything else.
I have used this on my pug since he was born. He has no issued with the chew, eats it like it's a treat and has no issues. Has never had any fleas, worms or anything. Will be sticking with this one for life.

7 years on Sentinel Spectrum
My Blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier has been on Sentinel Spectrum every month for 7 years now. It's been an excellent product and I have had no negative issues to report except that I would agree that it isn't the most palatable chew for dogs. They obviously don't taste great and I do finely cut the chew and mix it into his food. There have been no noticeable side effects physically, nor have there been any behavioural changes since having him on Sentinel Spectrum. I have read the feedback here and I am absolutely surprised about the negative co...Read more
mments made. Either the given dosage isn't quite right for the dogs body weight or there is something else not related to Spectrum causing these problems, maybe allergies. It seems unusual that many dogs are fine with the product and there are so many inconsistencies.2 comments

t do they know.....it's not their product. I think the person that claims to have reviewed THIS product is talking nonsense and most likely is referring to a VERBAC product. Go get your story right and contact Novartis about this product. They actually know what they are talking about so go and troll elsewhere.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Horrible Product
What good is a tablet the dog won't eat. This is too expensive. No more Sentinel for my pets.

Puppy (sick) Given 11-22kg Pack (11 week old GSD puppy 8.5kg) - store staffs recommendation
Fingers point to this product but not 100% sure at this stage.
Not given a full chew - Took a small amount off as it states 11 kg >
Given 8 pm with her meal, Next day she didn't seem all that interested in any of her meals which was out of the norm. but being puppy and not sick at the time I didn't think too much of it.
at 5 am next morning (33 hours after) she was vomiting and had diarrhea, after clean up she vomited a few more times in the next hour or 2. Morning Breakfast (38 hours after) not eating as much but ate her mean somewhat ...Read more

My pups had it a few times since being sick from giving her this the first time and she has not had any ill effects apart from the first time... maybe it was just something she needed to get used to! ... Read more
However she hates the chews... I need to cut it up into small bits and hide them in her food. So the star rating can stay at 3 :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not Enough Words.
I was given a beautiful Staffy/cross by my daughter, 5 years ago. Today she is gone. I had her on Sentinel for Heart Worm Preventative. Yesterday my vet told me, they no longer sell it because it doesn't work. They tested Charly and yes, she has Heart Worm. My friend, comforter and protector. This product does not work and I feel like I have let Charly down. I'm devastated. This company should be made pay for all the lived they have ruined.

This is a mixed review!
I have used Sentinel Broard Spectrum for years with my 14-year-old cattle cross dog. She has never had an adverse reaction to it, although I do have to chop it up and disguise it in her food. Sentinel works very well with her. She has never had any gastro-intestinal problems with it despite a long history of sensitivity following chemotherapy several years ago.
However, my two young Kelpies have both had adverse reactions. 14-month-old Banjo has had diarrhea following administration, while poor little Lawson has been very unwell after his rece...Read more

Works perfect for my three dogs.
We have three dogs, shih tzu, weimeraner and beagle and all three have been on sentinel since they were puppies. We have never had any fleas on our dogs and never had any instances of worms or parasites. The fact that all of this is built right in to their heartworm medication that we give every month anyway is a huge plus to me. The only downside is they dont really take them when given as treats. I just put the pill inside a little dab of peanutbutter for each of them. Works like a charm. Would definitely recommend.

Has always worked for my dog
My 11 year old beagle springer spaniel cross has been on Sentinal for 5 years and in that time has never had a flea. Prior to that I tried Frontline which worked for a while then failed, and Advantix which didn't work at all. He doesn't like the taste of the chews but takes them no problem if I cut them in half and embed them in a piece of fetta cheese which he adores - to take them I make him sit or lie down or do anything else that he usually might get a treat for and he just gobbles them up! Also have had no intestinal worm problems and it is his sole heartworm protection as he is a total nightmare at the vet and needs sedation to have an injection. Love it!

Gave my dog freedom 45. It didnt seem to work. Got his sentinel refilled. When am I able to use it? He is a yorkie kid weighs 12.65 pounds.

You should ask your vet rather than relying on possibly incorrect advice sourced from here. It depends on if the active ingredients may interact, when you last treated your dog, how old your dog is, and whether you are trying to deal with worms or fleas.
I would ring the Vet Nurse at your regular Veterinary Clinic and ask, and I am certain that they will be happy to correctly and safely advise you. Sometimes ingredients should not be combined if you have recently dosed your dog, so please ask a Professional rather than risk your dog's health by taking a lay-persons help. Best of luck with your little Yorkie! :) Cheers NatNat

Hi, my dog has eaten the chew but approx 12 hours later has vomitted. Does this mean that the treatment is ineffective? Should we give him another chew?
He used to have advocate liquid on his back, although this would affect his mood and make him very withdrawn and somewhat depressed.
Any ideas?

Hi, i would suggest calling the vet and asking them, my dog had a bad skin reaction to sentinal (not sure thats correct spelling) its taken a month for her to be clear of all irritations
stop the chews and see your vet
Get rid of this junk! I gave it to my 2 year old beautiful female chihuahua and it killed her. I am very upset about it. I want my baby back. She was healthy till I gave her this poison. Let your vet know! Stand Firm!

that taste really good..thought not! So, for the person who states it's a "Horrible" product based on taste and it's crap needs a reality check. It's actually the best product out there for dogs. Be creative, mix it into their food ...no big deal. I do it because I care about my dog. The person "Not Enough Words" needs to make sure you do not give Sentinel Spectrum to a dog that already has worms or other ailments. Visit the vet first before dosing with any worm products.
