Not reliable ... but it is amazing when it works
Bought this in June 2017. Took it on an overseas trip and during the first day, the camera flash stopped working and display an error code E:96:01. Crikey... the camera is brand new, what is going on Sony!!!'
Lucky for us, the rest of the camera functions are ok but we did miss the ability to fill flash when the subject is back lit.
I rated it 2 stars as reliability is very important for a travel camera of this size. What else are you going to take photos with if this failed completed!!! Plus Sony is charging a premium on the RX100 serie...Read more
s, so they need to use better components than something that would fail within the first hour of operation. My advice, if you decide to take this on a once in a lifetime trip, prepared to have a backup camera! OK apart from flash, the camera is truly amazing... vibration reduction is top notched. Focus takes no time and hardly ever hunt .. better than a lot of SLR cameras. Colour rendition is vibrant and true to colour. Wifi can download photos to smartphones. Selfies is super easy vs iphone due to focus and flip LCD. I have always been a Nikon DSLR shooters and was going to upgrade to the next DSLR and this little camera completely changed my mind about the technology being used in newer cameras. It blew the Nikon cameras away. Unfortunately, I never have a Nikon failed on me. But Sony pocket cameras, including this RX100 and another one I owned before, it has been 2 out of 2 stopped working during an overseas trip. Not good enough Sony!

Nice
The technical reviews reveal undoubtedly that the RX100 IV gives the highest quality photos in the point and shoot class. As of September 2015 nothing beats it; it's an awesome P&S. The only thing I don't like about it is if you select RAW mode to get great post-editing abilities, the Sony .ARW format is not friendly with a lot of post-editing software and the best option is to pay for and download a Sony related software. However, there is a Sony software simple post-editor and converter (to .jpg or others) FOC which is ... okay.
