XV G4X (2015-2017)

I have 2013 xv-i cvt with paddles. Only have 8500kms,since about 4000kms there is an intermittent vibration from take off when turning a car also had the transmission software updated due to a feeling of driving with the handbrake on.has anyone else got/had this vibration which can be felt through the passenger floor as well as drivers,Subaru claim they couldn't feel it,I reckon it's something to do with the drive componentry.
Please help?

I also have a bit of vibration when taking off and turning at the same time, particularly when turning right and giving it a bit of welly. It's not bad and I've described it before as more a grumble. I agree the issue is in the drive train and is probably due to being permanent all-wheel drive. I haven't been overly concerned and I have accepted it as normal. Currently 70,000km trouble free...

Has anyone had problems with the front seats losing their foam on the back part? My X is 18 months old and the steel is exposed on both sides of the drivers seat.

I have had my drivers seat repaired 5 times.. I am really disappointed in a car less than 3 years old. Monday 18 June, Subaru renewed the whole back section of the seat. Purchased from Bill Buckle in Brookvale. I have also have the engine removed for oil leaks, gps renewed for making noises, The front drivers door fills with water when it rains. A very poor car and poor dealer

Is there anyone out there who agrees with 2004owene - 'run the car in hard to seal the rings ... '?
I dont know much about car engines and have been eyeing a 2014 Subaru XV, until I started reading so many poor reviews about them. Have recently experience with a lemon of another car and am so nervous of ending up with another lemon. Hope to hear more about the 'sealing of the rings' Theory?

Hi Customer 24 - we bought 2 XV's last year. Neither have had any problems with oil consumption. There is no special requirement for running in, OTHER THAN NOT SITTING ON A CONSTANT SPEED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. Both cars have loosened up beautifully after 3,500 kms. We just get in them and go. Very frugal with fuel too. We both average between 6.8 and 7.0 l per 100 kms. However I would test drive the car you wish to purchase carefully, feeling for a judder in the steering, when turning.
If necessary, test drive many until you find one that doesn't judder. Best wishes.

Do not buy a Subaru, customer service when things go wrong is shocking. I brought a 2013 XV paid $400 for the optional extra window tints done through the dealer. The tint has a lifetime warranty but after 6 months scratches all along the top of the windows due to dust, dirt sticking to the window rubber frame and scratching tint as windows go up and down. Car was looked at today by a Subaru regional manager after having windows redone and same problem occurring within 5 months, I was told "can't do anything about it, can show you pictures if other Subaru models with the same problem???? So why offer an optional extra and not disclose that due to the design of the car doors window tints will scratch. I'm furious at this stage, Subaru your a joke !!!!!

No excessive consumption of coolant. However, vehicle - and others I've driven - have had excessive vibration through the steering. Presumably the power steering. Especially when turning slow speed corners under power.

Anyone else had this problem??? In Australia???

When I was test driving -during emergency barking I found the whole car is rattling instead of settling-I imagine these could be due to the Horizontal Opposing Cylinders -similar to some of the sports car -but at a higher elevation resulting in higher Centre of Gravity & instability . Has any one noticed these phenomenon?

Possibly just the A B S in operation, particularly if you were emergency braking on a corrugated or bumpy road.

YES!! I love mine more and more each day. I get about 12 days per tank driving about 30 minutes each way to work (streets and on the hwy). Its comfy and roomy. Simply love it!!!

Yes you should. We test drove the Mazda CX5, Honda CRV, Hyundai Highlander and the Subaru Forrester and we both preferred the Subaru xv. It's a great car to drive and I don't think you will be sorry. I feel very safe in this car.

Is any one able to tell me what the fuel economy is for city driving with auto transmission and the stop/start technology switched OFF. I test drove one a couple of weeks ago. Loved how it drove and the way it looks but found that function really annoying. Also how often does it need to be serviced and what's the average cost per sevice?

Regularly get under 7.5 for city driving, but I do use start/stop. No idea why you would want to turn it off. Servicing is 12,500 kms or 6 months. Our last service (2nd for the car) was around $260.

I use 10l/100km city driving- on the autobahn (Europe) best I got was 7.5l/100km driving average speed 130km/h But watch out if you drive harder...........
Used Pirelli winter tyres and now I can throw them away (All 4 ) after 11000km Rear wheels needed also Alignment, provided free from Subaru dealer.
Power is really poor especially compared to other cars in the 2 litre class.

Has anyone else had any problems with their new XV using excessive oil ? Mine has been back to Zupps Mount Gravatt 3 times in first 15000kms. Is this normal or do we just have a lemon ?

Have had our XV for 11 months now, have driven just under 10,000 kms with 2 scheduled services. Oil guzzling hasn't been a problem for us.

Hi Grant,

I have had my XV (6speed manual) back at Zupps Subaru Mt Gravatt at least 7 times since I purchased it at the end of February 2013, the latest time was yesterday 05/06/13 when the vehicle has used 1 ltr of oil in 2000kms (a 6 weeks period), the previous visit prior to this was on 24/04/13 when the oil sensor light was replaced. From my records the light has been coming on every 3300 kms, The first time I had this issue was on 02/05/12 when the vehicle had only done 3365. Like you I feel I have been sold a lemon and have also asked for some oil so I can have it in the vehicle. Subaru Australia have fobbed me off every time I have contacted them advising me the oil consumption is normal!!. I am currently waiting on a reply from Zupps Subaru Mt Gravatt as to what Subaru Australia have to say this time.
I am extremely disappointed and apprehensive every time I get into the vehicle. I also know 5 other XV owners none of whom have had an oil issue.
This has been by far the worst new car experience I have ever had, and I am considering trading my XV.
