Not so stunning to date....
I'm afraid I must agree with 'queenofsheba's comments. I'm 65, 20kg overwrought, committed to the Dukan Diet because it makes (layman's) sense to me. I'm in day 9 of the attack phase. Like 'queenofsheba' I've been strict about using only those foods on the list. Yes, I used to have wine each night and now have no alcohol as stipulated. I've walked 20 minutes each day. Unlike 'queenofsheba' I am not in pretty good shape. I've read the book, and reviewed sections multiple times. I lost 1.5 kg in the first two days and nothing since.

terestingly, the cruise phase diet is how I've been eating (well, my wife has been consistently providing) for years; apart from the only protein day. Over the years I've tried shakes, supplied meals and supervised regimes with limited success, always with the inevitable slow weight claw-back. I'll continue with the Dukan Diet attack phase for another few days then, irregardless, swap to the cruise phase to maintain my good health. Any advice from others who have struggled then succeeded would be welcome. Roger MFC The diet is effectively effortless. For me it hasn't been effective so far.4 comments

Yes I echo the above comments - attack is not supposed to last that long so suggest you move to cruise now. Also, water is really important. i find the days I don't get through 1.25 litres of water,... Read more
I retain it and my weight goes up. In fact I'd say its one of the most important aspects of the Dukan Diet. And if that doesn't work, then I'd head to the doctor for a check-up as it's more usual for women than men (I think!) to have difficulties with weight loss. Good luck and I hope that helps. The diet is set up in 4 phases, you stay in each phase depending how much weight you need/want to lose. First phase is 'Attack' which is eating nothing but protein. I did the 'Attack plan for 5 days, and surprisingly lost 3kg in this time. Felt thinner and clothes felt like they fitted better. Followed the second phase for a few weeks (alternating pure protein days, with protein and vegetables days) and a few more kg came off with not too much effort. All in all, I lost 6kg in one month (goal was to lose 10kg all up) but sadly I weakened and ga...Read more
ve up the diet (eating too much bread and pasta!) and yes the kg came back very easily. This diet works very well, but you must follow it through ALL phases to get good success at maintaining your weight in the long term, or the kg will sneak back very easily. The book is encouraging and interesting to read, and the initial quick results can be very motivating to help you lose weight. Easy to follow diet if you do your research for meal ideas so you dont get bored. Quick initial weight loss is encouraging. Diet slip ups will affect the scales, very strict, no treats allowed for a long time!1 comment
The diet is extremely strict - stick to it and you will lose weight, go off it and you will gain all your weight back. Joining the Dukan Diet Website is a waste off time. The daily support is nothing ... Read more
more than repeated daily hints, yes we all know we should be walking the dog but there is no support for when you don't want to walk the dog - you are on your own... at the end of it you are about $110 AUD down and craving chocolate to make you feel better for being so stupid. Good on you to all the people who have found this successful, I take my hat off to you - This ones not for me.....

Wonderful! It took 60+ years but I've found the answer to overweight, for life!
I initally lost weight by calorie counting and taking Reductil. I lost about 45kg, 30% of my lung function, and a good percentage of my hair (owing to complete loss of the scalp fat layer, I'm told). I also learned nothing about how to eat!
After a Pulmonary Embolism caused by the Reductil, I regained the weight.
Last year I found the Dukan Diet, and have lost 20kg + without any real effort. Unlike synthetic ways of losing weight like Reductil, it has taught me that I must exercise lightly, and has shown me what I was doing wrong as far ...Read more
as eating is concerned. I enjoy my food greatly, and will stick with the Dukan Diet until the whole 45kg is gone - again! Now that Dr Dukan has taught me how to eat, I foresee no further weight problems. Sensible, great food, a plan for the rest of my life; great free website support through Dukaners.com Restricts some foods - but surely that's the point, to improve eating habits?Similar opinion? 5 days of attack - haven't lost a pound 178cm 82kg, size 14-16
Could do with losing 7-10kg. Eat extremely healthily normally Mon-Fri and boot camp, boxing, running, pilates 6 days a week, ride my bike to work and back Mon-Fri. Drink wine every night and more on the weekends. Results: Haven't lost a pound on 5 day attack phase. Have had no alcohol. Exercised as normal. Have had 2 eggs, splash of milk and salmon for brekky each day as per receipe book. Lunch: quark with either shaved turkey or ham. Black coffee no sugar. Chicken drumstick, no skin. No fat yoghurt. Snack before exercise: sardines i...Read more
n springwater. Dinner: prawns, steak. Dessert: low fat yoghurt with 2 tablespoons oat bran. I don't like sweet sugar so didn't miss it in tea or coffee. No fat yoghurts and diet softdrinks are sooooo sweet. Yuk. Normally choose plain yoghurts and soda water when not on this diet. Really miss texture of spinach and salads when having the meat. 5 days of attack phase is enough. I was expecting to lose 3kg as the book says. Not going to preserve. Constipation not too bad as I drink 3L of water a day, just less volume. No dry mouth and use sugar free chewy for the breath. Disturbed sleep which I put down to lack of carbs?2 comments

tried many diets over the years and have found this to be the most logical and easiest to follow. Diet yoghurt is not great but mix it with the natural yoghurt. Same with diet drinks mix it with soda water. If you do not have too much to lose just do protein and vegetable each day and one day a week do the protein only. If you are doing so much exercise you may need some bread cheese and an apple to keep you going. When you have not too much weight to lose, you may not lose 3kgs in the Attack Phase. Good
Can't believe what few reviews this book has on here- I've heard lots of people having success because they stuck to the diet 100%. This book, written by a french doctor, is no quick fix, and because of that I don't think its a fad diet. I've never dieted before and was very skeptical even picking up the book a few times and flicking through it at the book store before eventually committing and buying it! You have to realize the crazy diet rules (protein only, then reintroduce veges every second day etc) are SHORT TERM. you restrict your variet...Read more
y in food (there's no calorie counting!) what you eat until you reach your 'true' (goal) weight, then you slowly eat normal foods again so you fit into society as a normal eater. People are afraid this will then lead them to putting back all that weight, but they don't! the doctor claims he's had 20 or 30 something years experience with perfecting this diet, and everyone who follows it has had success. It teaches you how your body uses protein, and how much excessive carbohydrates we all eat. I'm still doing the diet, have lost 3 kilos over 7 weeks, but I'm not overweight to start with. I know ladies who have lost over 20 kilos over 3-4 months, and have kept it off, and no you don't go hungry on this diet, and you don't go crazy. I would suggest try it, but set your mind to it. Book relatively affordable at Big W and Target. Clear instructions, motivating, a doctor is the author. The diet may be a long-term plan, particularly if you have a lot of weight to lose. Diet works for any amount of weight that needs loosing, from 5 kilos to say 50 kilos, its very easy to adapt to your goal weight. There is a supporting UK website for more recipe ideas and advice and can sign up to be a member for online coaching. The book also includes recipes for all phases of the diet, and there's now a second book available for purchase which is just recipes. Some exercises and lifestyle tips also included in the book. Diet involves eating as much as you like until your full! No calorie counting! Perfect diet if you love eating HEAPS of meat, protein, eggs, non-fat dairy. Diet is also good for getting over sugar addictions. Can only eat certain foods for the first few 'phases'. May experience constipation given the lack of fibre at first! Some of the French foods are unavailable in Australia (but these can be substituted quite easily). The author can get carried away / talking lots of fluff of how/why you should loose weight and stick to the diet. I feel its a bit patronizing in some ways.. but maybe that's just me. Don't start the diet if you're not 100% committed to see it through, its a long process particularly if your obese, and if you stop short, you WILL put the kilos back on plus more. You may disagree with the lack of fruit and bread in this diet, until you reach the final 2 phases.1 comment

I would suggest you see a doctor ASAP before you continue with this diet. Your health is too important not to seek professional medical advice as you might be doing yourself irreversible harm.

On the Dukan site you can input and calculate this from memory it was 6 weeks and was spot on from the calculation.
I lost 5.5kgs but kept on losing another 4 kg but became too gaunt. That was 2010 and gradually put most of the weight back on I tried it again in 2015 but found it didn't work as I have been following a low carb high protein diet (although I was eating good carbs) since then now I just watch my carbs and overall what I eat but if you haven't tried it it's a great although not easy way to lose weight but you have to be extremely dedicated. Good Luck!!.
PS See my original post from July 2013
I lost 20k in 6 months Kept it off for a year then got slack and put it back on. It works but you have to be careful and do the 3 stages I did not and went back into old habits.
