Affordable and Reliable Home Security with Audio
I have owned a Swann security system for many years and it has served me well, the cameras are starting to fail with the Swann and the image quality is not the best so it was time for an upgrade. I took a chance and bought the Kasa Spot Pan Tilt camera from my local electronics store and was pleasantly surprised, firstly the Kasa camera was far easier to set up than the Swann system, no cables to run through ceiling or walls as it is all wi-fi and the only cable required is the single power cable which is long enough to run from powerboard on g...Read more
round to ceiling in a standard house, the Kasa cameras can be easily wall mounted or just placed on a shelf no problem. I was worried that connecting through wi-fi would be a bit sketchy and not as reliable as wired ethernet connection but so far the Kasa wi-fi camera is performing better than the wired swann system in regards to image quality and clarity, far sharper than my old swann and you can zoom in on areas of interest..ie to see what your kids are playing on their PC monitor, you can hear audio also. The Kasa camera has a much wider field of view than my swann cameras enabling it to cover an entire room easily, the image is sharp and covers large areas with clear high resolution video. The TP-Link Kasa also has two way audio which my swann system did not have, it is a handy feature but can only be initiated by whoever has the smartpnone on the other end looking in if you know what I mean, if the camera is in your room you can not initiate a conversation with whoever is looking in at you.. you can talk to them only if they decide to contact you through the mobile app, for me this is the weakest part of the Kasa camera as the audio is a bit hit and miss, choppy and a bit hard to operate as there is a slight delay in image and audio... you find yourself talking over people while they are talking to you so it takes a bit of getting used to, if you keep the conversation short and concise it all works better. I purchased the Pan and Tilt model but because the field of view is so wide I do not really use this feature, it is easy to control from the mobile app which runs on Iphone, Android and PC (PC via Android emulator Blue stacks). Night vision is very good and motion detection is easy to set up via zones, captured footage is uploaded and stored for 2 days after the event, you can view and download any captured event you wish to keep... I have not looked into storing captured videos for longer but I believe there is a subscription service for this, I find two days is enough for me. I have since bought a 2nd camera for another area in the house, this time I just bought the Kasa Spot which is cheaper and does not Pan and Tilt, the wide angle lens is more than sufficient to encompass an entire room easily. Both cameras can be viewed on my iphone using the Kasa app - very simple to set up and great image quality, not for outdoors but I cant see why you couldnt point through a window overlooking driveway, pool or backyard? I believe you can purchase an outdoor case if you need it to be weather proof.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
