Hello
I have just bought 4 litres of white Knight SLS primer, 4 litres rust guard enamel, 1 litre rust guard solvent
I also bought one litre of rust guard enamel to test before I opened the big tins.
I had called white knight in the week and spoke to one of white Knights technical guys to make sure I applied the paint correctly.
The paint is rubbish and I have had all the problems in the bad reviews, the main problem being not drying correctly and is still soft.
I will be taking back to Bunnings, but want white Knight to compensate me for the wasted primer and now the paint remover to remove the rubbish White Knight paint and my time wasted

I top-coated the tailgates of my box trailer with two coats of White Knight Rust Guard Epoxy Enamel three days ago and it is still "soft" [not tacky but easily removed with a scratch of the fingernail]. How long does it take for this product to dry to where the paint is hard enough to resist damage through abrasion/knocks/etc?

Give it a week or so. Leave it in the sun if possible - not in the rain though. It is an enamel and takes a while to harden up, but lasts pretty good. I did my steel gates I made 9 years ago and they are out in the sun and weather - just starting to go a bit dull now - much longer than expected.

Thank you dtbobmiller. Yes it is starting to harden up now.

we painted our patio which is paved with concrete pavers. The paint we used was White knight quick dry paving and concrete paint then we sealed with ultra pave clear sealer thinned with white knight prep solvent. It was painted 24 hours ago but this is not drying, and it is tacky in places. We are unable to apply the second clear sealer until it dries. What are we doing wrong???

I'm not sure about the actual thinning ratio but it's an enamel paint and cleans up with Rustguard solvent or turps.

Once you have a good solid base coat down then any quality top coat should be OK, you might consider the Colorbond colour range.

Painting a car with rust guard epoxy enamel, what ration should i thin the paint for use in a spray gun and can or should i finish with a clear coat for extra shine, durability, cheers

Probably would'nt recommend you paint your entire car with this White Knight product. Having said that I have repainted a couple of rideons with this stuff without bother but have done that by hand or pressure pack version. You could thin it according to the instructions for your paint gun, just remember you will need more coats to do an even job. Unless done properly doing a clear top coat can be hit and miss and wont add much in way of shine. The rideons now have a relatively hard painted surface after a few months.

Can i use this on an axe I have just polished? Not stainless steel

If its a working tool then probably not, but you could paint the non contact parts and just oil down the blade surface from time to time. A clear topcoat may slow down the oxidation process.

Does it clean up with turps?

Yes, all the products are oil based and need mineral turps to clean up brushes etc. White Knight also produce their own paint solvent for specialised use.

I found that after putting a paint brush in a jar of turps to clean it, and then leaving it there for a few hours, all the paint material comes off the brush and sinks to the bottom of the jar. I haven't found this with other oil-based paints, as the turps always retains some colour. Is it the type of pigment, or the total structure of the paint, or???

Yes, you could use turps to thin it if using a spray gun but will need probably three coats if you do. Also remember to clean up spray nozzle immediately after use. White Knight also produce their own solvent for specialised use.
