Rust guard, not easy to use but does what it says
I have used this product for many years on my custom bikes and cars. Not easy to use, prep is everything and it takes a week to go hard after topcoat, but when set it is bulletproof. I painted a set of Harley fork lowers with the etch primer and then gloss black, they look great 7 years on.
Also painted chrome after sanding and etch, looks great and very hard to chip.
Today painted a bike frame, expecting it to be excellent as it looks when wet.

Terrible
Wanted to respray a vintage bicycle, tried White Knight, not cheap either, so thought it would be good, but it kept bubbling, getting craze marks despite meticulous preparation, absolute rubbish, bought another tin, same bad results! Then used Wattyl killrust & perfect finish! Will never use White Knight again

White Knight Spray paint - Poor quality control followed by rotten customer service
Disappointed as this product which was expensive and not at all discounted when I purchased. Got up at 5am to use this product as still to minimise wastage had old packaged product first which Went on fine but new packaged tin had issues when i started spraying as was missing a crucial part to the spray nozzle! This mean’t i had spatters of paint going everywhere and after heaps of wasted time and energy to find out it was a quality control fault with the tin as red directional part was missing from spray cap!!
I wrote to the manufacturer w...Read more

Doesn't Do What it Says it Will Do
Used this as per directions on my cast iron birdbath thinking there was something in its name. I used a wire brush then metal primer as directed then followed with two coats of this enamel. The birdbath rusted.
Purchased in November 2021 for A$20.00.

Crappiest Paint On The Market
This paint is crap!!! Do not use it. It wrecked 2 of my $200 dollar paint guns. You cant thin it cause it eats the thinners up and it clogs the gun and the gun just sprays air. By brush the coverage is poor and will not surfice your needs.
I ended up using Watyl kill rust and that stuff paints and thins like a dream.
If you buy this rust guard just throw your money away now.

Very difficult to use and poor finish
I think the information on the can is misleading and inconsistent. It says "Easy one step application that transforms rust into a professional long lasting colour finish. No primer required for new or lightly rusted ferrous metals (steel or wrought iron". The preparation directions say "Sand ... previously painted … surfaces thoroughly. Prime galvanised iron, ZINCALUME and non ferrous metals …. In severe conditions, or for added protection to steel and wrought iron, prime with Rust Guard Metal Primer". I judged a steel trailer frame, mudguards ...Read more
and wheels wouldn't be used in 'severe conditions' (in suburban Melbourne) or to need 'added protection'. I wire brushed and sanded back the previously painted surfaces to bare metal (as far as possible) and applied rust converter where appropriate. I wasn't sure about using primer, but I used Dulux Metalshield All Surface Primer on the trailer frame and the galvanised (originally, many years ago) steel mudguards. I did not apply primer to the wheel rims. I used a new fine bristle paint brush. The paint wouldn't apply evenly on either the primed or the unprimed surfaces, although it was worst on the unprimed surfaces. The paint took ages to dry, and the runs that seemed impossible to avoid didn't dry completely and I had to use a sharp chisel to slice off the top layer down to a surface that was level with the rest of the paint (very difficult on wheel rims). Even after three coats, the finish is not the uniform, solid colour I expected, and I am extremely disappointed. My guess is that primer may have helped a little with the wheel rims, in which case it is not a 'one step' application (and I didn't find it easy). I'm not betting that I'll get the guaranteed 5 years protection from the coating.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Rust Guard range
White Knight 'Rust Guard', refers to a range of products which offer different functions. It is principally designed for use on ferrous metals such as iron and steel. The essential process of treating lightly rusted metal involves using three products, Rust Converter, Metal Primer and Topcoat. Follow all instructions at each step if you choose to use all three (eg. sand / scrape to remove loose rust and old paint first and lightly sand between coats of primer and topcoat). I found drying time varied depending on atmospheric conditions, the best...Read more
being low humidity and above 15C, mostly it was touch dry within 30 mins but leave for a few hours to harden off. Topcoat comes in a few different colours both in tin and spray and is compatible with Colourbond colours. Yes, it may be time consuming but produced an acceptable finish. Plan ahead and tackle small sections if repainting a trailer for instance. The spray Topcoat is handy for tricky areas.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Thin with poor coverage
Used numerous touch up epoxy enamels over the years. Went to bunnings who obviously supply this product as a cheaper alternative to better products. You get what you pay for! Very poor covergage with watery paint. By the time time you get any depth of coverage you start running into sag issues. Numerous thin coats produces an average job but it is time consuming. Touch dry in 6 - 8 hours.......are you kidding? With paint is thin it should be touch dry in an hour.

Better of the available options
I am not a 'professional'.. i have however restored several vehicles over the years and believe this to be the better of the available options on the australian market. Rust converter is not a miracle worker, it is however a useful tool to get rid of light surface rust before paining. I would suggest you follow the instructions of any product carefully.
Quite powerful concentrate
Sticky afterwards

ineffective
I used this product on the many surfaces without success. Steel posts, trailer, custom orb roofing, even inside tables. All have started to rust in 8 months. As a professional have used the correct procedures. Left for the correct time before priming . Was used under both acrylic and oil based paints.
I have always had a top regard for their products as I think they make good paints.
Maybe an off batch definitely did not work this time or maybe as good as they say

The review is for the rust converter and not the product in the picture for the solvent. Richard
