F & P Quality gone downhill in a big way
Owned a GW609 Top Loader for a decade and half having little problems with it apart from replacing the solenoids for the water. So we upgraded to another F&P model going on past experience.
A month after it was bought we had to warranty guys out. Wouldn't soak in soak mode, just empty after a few minutes then into the rinse mode. When used in normal wash modes would randomly jump between cycles. Repairmen changed the motor controller & all was good for 8 months, same problem second time occurring. Got the guys back out changed again. Settled d...Read more
own for a bit then after warranty was out started again but the wash mode was ok so we just avoided the soak modes. Had similar off & on problems for 4 years after that our older washer covered till the gremlins cleared and numerous repairmen not being able to find the problem. Then over Christmas again gone, now won't even wash, can't regulate water level. Thought a 5 year old wash maybe a new motor controller module would do the trick, well seems F & P don't stock anymore. Even second hand parts are non existent online for this model which makes me think the model has a problem with it motor controller that is Thai built now. I now have a very expensive boat anchor that I will probably start wrecking for parts to at least recoup some of the purchase cost. Meanwhile the 20 year old model of the same brand still powers on with having to replace the bearings last week. I will say when the above reviewed washer did work it did a very good job. Downside was the woeful reliability.Purchased in January 2021 at The Good Guys for $1,050.00.

Disappointed
Had this machine for about 6 yrs replaced balance rods recently which fixed the balance issue but am on my 3rd agitator due to fin broken again obviously a fault and these are not cheap, seems to happen every 2 yrs or so, does wash clean and big bowl but agitator should stand up to the fact that it is a large 10kg machine would stay clear of Fisher & paykel I wont buy another 1

Regret buying it.
No lint filter. Restarts from beginning if you stop it mid washing, no option to continue after pause. Agitator broke off after 12 months of regular loads washing. Wash cycle interrupted due to malfunctioned suspension rods after 4yrs. Increased noise during spin cycle.

Balancing issues & loud banging (drum)
After 5 years with no issue, this machine starting to make a loud banging noise and then error 'Out of Balance'.
It sometimes didn't error but where it had 10 minutes to finish it would jump back to the previous cycle and have 20 minutes remaining. This sometimes went on for 2 or 3 times.
After googling the problem and speaking to a technician, it ended up being the balancing rods. I was quoted $380 from the technician to get these replaced. There is 4 of them, one in each corner.
This was way too much in my opinion and was considering buyi...Read more
ng a new washer, however reading the reviews it seems every washer has its own problems. I didn't get it fixed and left it for a while (6 months), as it sometimes worked okay and other times it would stop. So in the end it got annoying and I decided to fix it myself.Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman for $1,100.00.

Agitator falling to bits
Fisher and Pykel were the brand of choice, but by this forum you can see that they ain't the machine they used to be. My machine is getting noisier and nosier as it clunks as it changes direction and now the agitator fins are breaking off down the bottom @ 2.5 years old. I have had simpson machine for 20 years and never had a thing fall off the agitator? I don't think the money buys quality any more. My neighbors same machine did a main board in 2 years and another friend same machine the suspension rods that keep the machine in balance in jus...Read more
t under 3 years. This whole thing of spending big dollars for inferior products is not sustainable for the average income earner. The build quality is buyer beware that's for sure. Its sad that viability of business is this era is the quality of the parts based a good name or now, was a good name. Spending a $1000 for three years turn around is not a sign of a good product. Its a shame really and then they want us to come back for return business?Purchased in August 2021 at The Good Guys for $1,000.00.

Big Loads and Very Reliable
I have been using this machine now for about 12 months. And time and time again to is very reliable. The only issues I have had with machine was it didn't turn on one time but all I had to do was switch off for 10 min and let it reset itself.
I do everything from small loads of wet baby pants right through to king size blankets and every time come out clean and fresh.
The bigger loads do take a bit longer but worth the wait.
Purchased in August 2021 at Harvey Norman for $850.00.

Love to wash with Fisher & Paykel
My third F&P machine and the best yet. I love the various settings available but especially the auto water level feature which saves water and adds to the washing efficiency and time.

Is it possible to LOVE a washing machine?
I love this washing machine!! We've had it for 2-3 years and it's never missed a beat! I like having the bigger capacity 10kg so I can wash our bedding and towels with ease as well as our day to day washing. I don't do hand washing - hand washing is in a clothes bag in the washing machine! I've never had a problem.

What a load of rubbish
The first half a dozen times the machine was fine, doing general medium size loads of clothing it was great. Then tried to put a towel load on, 4 bath sheet size and it kick a hissy fit. In the end had to pull two out and put through my 5kg twin tub. What a waste of money this machine was $899. Have put up with dirty cloths, stop, starting, out of balance, not filling, emptying mid cycle for 7 years now and had enough. What a piece of junk. My 5kg $300 twin tub works better..

Great machine and size of bowl is awesome
No more laundry mats for blankets or bigger washes. Can do it all in one machine with no fuss, just put the load on and let it do it's thing. Very happy with the machine so far and can wash very large loads to small. Doesn't take long to do a wash, great on water and power. Washes very clean and great with delicates.

30 months of service and the fins on the Agitator broken or have cracks in them
I googled Washmart cracked Agitator and found this review site.
We cam from a front loader that didn't have the capacity we needed and the spin cycle took too long. Harvey Norman recommended this product to us.
The things we liked were the capacity, ability to add an extra item after washing starts filling and wash cycles taking far less than before, but this is comparative to our 5kg frontloader.
The things we didn't like were the lint, damage to clothes, and clothes being tangled and stretched. When you watch it at the start before the lid needs to be locked the
We just put up with it and were more cautious with delicates.

nothing but problem
Since we bought this washing machine we have experienced nothing but problems. It keeps on shaking and unbalancing all the time. Very disappointed and will not recommend buying fisher and paykel washing machine. The price is very expensive and it's not worth it.

Do not buy Fisher&Paykel washing machine 10kg
This machine just a rubbish, after starting the machine water start filling for a bout 5mn then the machine lock it's lid and doing nothing, after the lid unlock and I tried to check the machine the water that mixed with power washing all gone. We you want to soak your cloths for a couple hour, the machine always empty the water even i turn off the power. The machine does not do good rinse because cloths smell washing powder very strong. I can not change water level or other program, once i push the pause button the machine will start over again. What's a stupid program they wrote for the machine to perform, never buy Fisher&Paykel again.
Purchased in August 2021.

Don’t buy
Recently purchased this model. This machine will automatically start to empty after 3minutes if you have to put it on pause which is a real nuisance I even turned the machine off but it stilled emptied. Also can’t set for a hot wash on certain cycles.I recommend you don’t purchase this model and find out which other F&P do the same before purchasing. All my other F&P machines which weren’t this model absolutely perfect no trouble at all

Great Machine
Having owned a 8.5 kg Fisher Paykel top loader for some 15 years we didn’t hesitate to buy this machine so glad we did, easy to use controls washes exceptionally well, all types of clothes, yet to wash a large item sure it will handle it Ok Very Happy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ok machine when it works, but so many problems with it!
Bought this machine a couple of months ago and have had issues ever since.
It gets about 10 minutes into the wash cycle, and will then continually beep until you press pause, and start again.
It seems as though the "lid lock" mechanism is faulty. However, sometimes it will do the complete wash cycle and other times it won't.
We have contacted Fisher & Paykel, and they have said we will need to organise to fix this ourselves.
Another downside is that there is no lint filter.
When it actually works the wash isn't too bad. It's a shame it's been so faulty.

Started off great but quickly went downhill, now next to useless just out of warranty (of course)
Have used Fisher & Paykel appliances for many years previously but they seem to be going down hill with additional electronics they claim are 'smart' but really just create problems and I suspect are engineered for built in obsolescence - seems way too convenient the majority of issues develop at the warranty close out. We've wasted so much water and detergent because the machine wash cycles are now not working at all - wash cycles don't fill to the set water levels, then skips through the run times randomly, cycles don't complete, partly fills...Read more
then drains and spins out. Give me the old rotary controls any day. Not good enough for a $1000 appliance. A real shame as it was good for the type of washing we needed done but the unpredictability of it and outrageous costs to repair have left permanently damaged my view on Fisher & Paykel as a quality brand.Similar opinion? Perfect Machine
All Fisher and Paykel washing machines are fantastic. I bought my new one late last year after having my previous one for 13 years. I wouldn't buy anything other than a Fisher and Paykel as the old one gave me no trouble right up to the last. I have a family of 7 so we have quite a bit of washing and we use most cycles.

Questions & Answers
Madhuasked
Our machine forwards the timer as it starts on wash cycle. In regular wash of 55 minutes, immediately after a minute of starting timer jumps to 49 minutes and then the wash cycle is stuck at 27 minutes. It does not move to Rinse cycle. No error code on machine. Can anyone help us with any solution.
Thanks in advance.

Fisher and Paykel is a top brand of washing machine, I have had others but I wouldn't buy anything but a Fisher and Paykel.
