Very nice, happy with purchase
I had some specific requirements for a new bike:
1) faster than my previous bike
2) upright seating position cause my back and wrists can't take a supersport
3) good on fuel, this was going to be my daily commuter AND weekend toy so I wanted good fuel as well as good performance
4) I'm only a little guy so I wanted a light, flickable bike
This thing fits the bill perfectly. I rode stacks of bike, I researched even more. I would have been happy with half a dozen bikes but this one kept drawing me back and gave me the bigger smile. I'm ...Read more
not a speed demon and I'm still sharpening my corning skills so ultra fast speeds didn't concern me. Exhaust is too quiet and will be replaced. The engine braking is pretty strong so you need to account for that when dropping back a gear for a corner. Torque is great, I can rip it in top gear and the thing just pushes hard. It's lighter than most bikes, and feels even lighter than light bikes.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

How is this lams approved? Lol
Ok so after researching every lams bike on the market (obviously a beginner) I wanted something that wouldn't murder me but I wouldn't out grow straight away, Im pretty sure this thing will do the job quite nicely!
Feels great to ride with the upright seating ergonomics, even on long trips. The torque is incredible, mess up a gear change and it will find torque to get you out of trouble. My only criticism about the ride is the front almost feels too light which I've found in quickly taking off can result in wheelies! Im fitting some drag ...Read more
bars shortly so that should add some feel keep some weight forward. One must do modification is throw out that awfully quite exhaust and fit a Akrapovic titanium system, if I were you I'd remove the baffle too. Sounds absolutely awesome trust me you also will be saying "this is a lams bike?" So it really is a good bike in stock form but to get the most out of these things I suggest: -exhaust, not just for the awesome sound but so if people can't see you they'll hear you -tail tidy, save some weight and look much better -bar end mirrors, stock mirrors are terribleSimilar opinion? I love my MT07
Best bike I ever have. Very light, fast enough and the price is good. There is couple of issues with most special on the water pipes which getting very faded, however this may be changed under warranty as if bad paint.
I fave load of fun on this bike, I'm not beginner, I'm riding now for about 20 years. I do not need bigger bike as this one if fast. I'm not racer.

Simple & awesome!
This is an awesome motorcycle. No fancy gizmos, just pure riding pleasure. The riding position is great, has decent power, superb handling, good economy and its value for money - what else can you ask for? Well, maybe a better suspension would make it really perfect! The stock exhaust is OK, but I have an Akrapovic fitted!

Great value, Superb Ride !
Got the LAM's version so my wife can ride this aswell as she presently has restricted Licence. What a ride, lovely machine and one you could easily ride all day with NO sore bum afterwards. Value for money for sure, great sound and a pleasure to own. 3.9 laters per 100 k's, a great commuter and fun bike in one !

Simple and brilliant
In the world of Motorcycles, as in Cars, complexity of the machine is a direction that we all seem powerless to avoid. I test rode the MT07 because I love simplicity, I don't want to change forks or shocks....Pipes maybe...but that's it!
This bike impressed me beyond my expectations, it has such a managable torque curve and is super smooth, plus it handles well. It was like a good movie, lingering with me long after the ride.
I am after the HO version as I have my open license.
I want a bike long term, that's fun, fast, easy to ride and above all....simple, this is the one for me.
Take it for a ride and prepare to be blown away.

Engine stalling
Engine stalling after first service, rough idling and roughly reving throughout the rev range - first service the same day - Yamaha have been pretty good so far (touch wood) I would not feel comfortable riding this bike - Yamaha is collecting tomorrow to take to service garage. H-O Version Review
I have just completed 1000 kms and had the first service done on my 689cc full power version. Almost everything is perfect apart from the appalling rear shock which is way underdamped, especially in rebound and the archaic rod-holder front forks which are far too harsh over square-edged bumps - i.e. just about every road in SEQ. Great engine, reasonably slick gearbox, good brakes, excellent handling on smooth roads, nimble, light and fast enough for anybody but a speed freak.

Love it but...
I have the aussie version 655cc love the bike but when the bike gets hot your at the light set with clutch all the way in and blip the throttle it will just die on you and stall. VERY dangerous as it is always on take off at the lights and have nearly been rear ended on several occasions. I know i'm not stalling it because the clutch is all the way in. Seems like a common problem with the engine stalling. I brought this bike brand new and don't feel comfortable riding it anymore. BTW i am at about 10,000 km so not a "tight" engine problem more likely fuel mapping. Yamaha needs to do something about this dangerous problem. Other than worrying if i'm going to get rear ended every time i take off its a good bike.

Change the exhaust
Great bike!
I've put an akrapovic exhaust pipe on it and now I can't stop revving the crap out of it.
And also it feels like a safe bike for all the girls out there!
The higher your guts the faster it goes.
5 out of 4 I give it

MT-07 Kicks as a LAMS
Being new to riding, the MT-07 is an excellent bike to learn on. It's a brilliant bike for inner-city riding, commenting and short trips. I'd say it's a keeper once you have your full license as well.
I've done 2,121 Km's on it to date and have no complaints what so ever. My only real criticism is that the front end is somewhat light and can get a little loose if you're riding over uneven ground on a turn. This may be more a reflection of my riding capability, but if it was a little more heavy I doubt you'd get that feeling.
The bike ...Read more
has buckets of torque and you need to match your revs to gear options on the down shift or you will learn that the engine breaking is extremely powerful. It pulls away from anything on the city road. Navigating inner CBD traffic is easy & provides heaps of confidence being light and capable of tight turns at low speeds. I'm only short (@ 5ft 4'=163 cm's & 69 kg) so I can't comment on the challenges the wheel-seat hight can bring to taller riders. For a shorter and new rider it offers confidence in having your feet touch the ground with security. Taken it on a highway run (2 hrs in duration) but the biggest issue is the wind factor even with the wind shield not the engine. I was sitting between 110km-130km comfortably in 6th gear. Would I do this again? No. I'd leave highway riding to a 1,000cc or true touring bike. The MT-07 is built & designed for inner-city riding which it does extremely well. It's a great bike for commuting to & from work and it just owns the traffic conditions. The power delivery is extremely quick and gets you out of potential troubles fast. Moving from zero to 100km's is easy & quick. Deceptively so as a matter of fact. You hit 60 Kph in 2nd easily (when pushing the revs which it loves) so moving from 2nd through to 4th and 100 Kph or more is fast without any labor to the engine which is built extremely well. To be honest I've only been in 4th gear & above on highway sections or longer stretches of roads. It's a reflection of the torque inherent in the bike.Similar opinion? Great LAMS bike, not quite perfect.
This was my second LAMS bike and the increase in power from my VTR 250 is huge - you just can't go back. Riding ergonomics are great but the seat is uncomfortable. I upgraded to the 'comfort' seat but that is only marginally better, although much better looking with the red stitching.
Handling is great and the bike is very light. You need to watch your downshifts and match your revs appropriately. If your revs are too high high the back end will kick out. Could have done with a slipper clutch, but maybe thats a reflection of my riding skills.
In any event I would highly recommend this bike, she's a sweet ride.

Great bike, highly recommend
Hi everyone, I gave this bike a bad review without giving it time for me to give it a fair go, now after 200kms of riding it, I have to say in all fairness that it's an awesome machine. It is so rider friendly and plenty of power, wow, I really love this, yamaha have done a great job in providing the best lams bike out there, sorry about my previous bad review, I take it all back.thx yamaha, u guys rock.

Perfect learner Bike
This Bike Is a very good bike for new riders on the road. I would recommend it to all who are starting out on the road and wish to keep a more powerful bike further down the road. With the hefty price of $10k for it brand new 2015 model. it might be a bit far fetched, but it is worth it. The bike itself is very powerful and filled with Torque at the front end. with a boringish top end as it clocks out at 171km/h. though why would one need to go that fast I don't know. The bike is light, and it is Japanese meaning easy and cheap repairs and parts for it. Plus the range of accessories for it is endless. I love this bike and it will be a good bike for a long time. the only problem is that there is no ABS.

Meanest lams bike on the market
This is my 4th Lams bike that I have owned now and even though it's only been one week, I'm absolutely overwhelmed with joy. Previously, I have owned a Ninja 300, ER6N (naked ninja 650) and a fully faired Ninja 650 but this MT07 takes the cake for me.
The Ninja 300 was the perfect bike to start on (handles so nimbly and smoothly, wet clutch, comfortable) but didn't have the power I was after. So I upgraded to the ER6n which was essentially same bike but bigger engine (and naked). It was an amazing bike and could find no faults in it whatsoeve...Read more

Yamaha Mt 07
First road bike. I'm an older rider 55yrs . With new rules, restricted for three years, it made up my mind for me. MT 07 will carry me through to unrestricted licence no problem. I find it has plenty of power for take off and just does the cruising so easy. Stopping on the twin front discs gives me great feel. Not missing ABS . Good feel on back brake as well. Riding since December and never want to get off. Highway riding is good with Akropovic system clearly helping for awarness.

The holy grail of Lams bikes
Impeccable build quality (typical of Yamaha), awesome motor, torquey, free revving, smooth and easy to ride. Good suspension. Well balanced and engineered to handle beautifully. Strong brakes although no ABS. Great tyres and wheels. Nice digital display with plenty of info, although it sits a little low, close to the tanks so you find your head moving down that little bit more to read it. Gears are well spaced and that Motor!!!
Looks cool and well priced for a Japanese built motorcycle.

She's a keeper
Once you hear one of these bikes with an after market exhaust you will be over whelmed with the urge to buy one. Absolutely fantastic to ride, with plenty of torque and power to get you into more then enough trouble.

Yamaha is onto something with this beast
I have just taken delivery of the Australian Lams approved version of one of Yamaha,s top selling bikes from Europe and the States, Yamaha Re-engineered this bike for Lams approval so it comes in under the 660cc limit. Most manufactures place throttle and timing limiters on the engine to reduce power, however Yamaha have done a re engineer of this beast and have managed to keep the torque characteristics which make this bike such a hoot to ride. I have been riding for over 40 years and it reminds me of the older naked Ducat's I rode as a young...Read more
man, with loads of torque and linear power delivery this bike just doesn't feel restricted or in any way under powered. Being 162 kg dry and short in the wheel base makes it perfect for the cut and thrust of city traffic and with the new NSW lane filtering laws the commute to work is quick and efficient. After 180 kays the bike is averaging about 24 Klm to the Lt. With cheap rego, greenslip and insurance as well as excellent resale as it is lams approve it makes good economical sense, even for fully licences riders. The bike is made in Japan and has the outstanding Yamaha sturdiness, reliability and that chunky durable feeling that all Yamaha's have (this is my 5th Yamaha) I found the build quality and ride ability of its direct competitors lacking in comparison. PS, I dont work for or have anything to do with Yamaha Australia, I am just so impressed with the bike, I find myself grinning and giggling like a school girl every time I ride this. Easy to ride, cheap on fue,l light and maneuverable and sexy as hell to look at I would love to see this engine in a Bike with a full faring Say like a FZ6rSimilar opinion? How much have you paid for a HO ride away in QLD? I have been told that I should be able to get one for $11 if I’m buying other stuff on top.

Sorry mate I thought I wrote the review under the LA model. The bike was 2 years old and cost $7000
hey brad how did u go with price im lookin in brissy
Hey Mate. I ended up getting one used for $7500 and had it shipped up from Victoria. It had been owned by a 50 year old chick and had big chicken strips. 2017 model with 16,800km... in great condition with lots of carbon fibre bits and heated grips. This was March last year now. Anyway, I did the DNA filter and got it tuned so it’s mental enough for me. Lots of fun. Highly recommend. If you can, buy one used with all the stuff already done to it... exhaust etc... HO’s are rare and great machines. The money you save can be put towards a set of Michelin road 5’s and getting the suspension sorted. I am yet to do this but the bike really would benefit from a better rear shock and maybe better sorted fronts. [contact details removed] is my mobile if you have further questions. Name is brad. Cheers!

Yamaha MT 07.
ted to commute on. Filtering and freeway traffic very comfortable. Done country trips around vic, great touring. Put a sports screen on with bark busters . Cuts down on wind fine. Touring model coming will be a beaut for longer k's. I'm about half way to unrestricted riding now and still find power from the 07 good. I ride with a mate who has an 09 Tracer and another with an R1. No problems riding with these guys. Awesome on winding roads like Refton spur, Great Ocean road, Lavers Hill to Apollo Bay. etc. Never had a break down. Only ever done the stall thing a couple of times. This bike handles so well and the gear box is so precise. Never missed a gear or false neutral. No transmition noise unlike the tracer . well balanced and thought out bike. Unrestricted bikes up to 1lt are just going to have more top end and fractionally quicker through the gear changes .Up to 185 k's is fine for me on a burst of adrenaline.Acropovic fine tuned in nicely with db killer in. Just can't live with it out, too much. Done lots of long rides overs 3 hrs or so at a time, but seat could do with more comfort for riding long halls. Met a guy at Eildon one time who just could not go on jumping back on his Mt 09. Not sure what thats like for long trips . Anyway this one is the pick of a lot of bikes not only in it's category, but a lot of others as well.Update on Lams bike. Riding now since Dec14. 15,000 on the clock . Ride to city for work when i can. Sometimes other side of city as well. This bike is one amazing machine, so well sui... Read more
