Matches do not meet criteria it’s just horrible

I had signed up but not paid fortunately. Two days ago I clicked on a 50% sign up link and now my fb account has been hacked. I would report it directly but can not find their customer service line,

I wish I'd read these reviews before I wasted my money. My criteria was someone in Melbourne. I got matched with people from interstate. Despite the name 'academic' singles I got matched with someone selling the Big Issue.

Also very few matches. So in the whole of Melbourne, there are less than 20 guys they can match me with.

I recommend wholeheartedly not to sign up. There is no full information on types of memberships, or on what and how much you are paying for, no customer service, no UK phone line, delayed and threatening replies 
which appear to be self-generated, forget any refund or decent treatment once your money has been taken from your bank account. Besides, incredibly expensive compared to other dating apps. There are not enough people registered, not to mention that they are not "academic". I wonder how such businesses are not investigated by the competition and market authorities.

This is a fraudulent website that gains access to your payment information. I had to go to the extent of cancelling my card. There no options to opt out on the website and that leads to you being stuck and the fear of unauthorized deductions on your account.

Fraudulent and a blatant rip off, just out to steal your money

I didn't even want to give this one star it’s so bad. Terrible customer experience, they make you jump through hoops and send them email after email to request cancellation of membership and they ignore your requests so can keep billing you. The people this platform attracts are old (not seniors but geriatrics) and uneducated - everything it’s supposed to stand for, it isn’t. Save your dollars and time and join a worthwhile dating site!

Firstly the only thing "Academic" about this site are the fake occupations the scammers use. So many female engineers and financial analysts who also seem to prefer living in remote country towns. There were so many profiles containing photos of absolutely stunning women in their 20's claiming to be 50 years old. You'd have to be stupid to believe it. Conspiracy theorist that I am, I am suspicious that most of these fake profiles were posted by the site itself as the number of fake profiles increased dramatically the closer I got to the end of my subscription. This was my first and last venture into online dating.

Horrible experience both with the platform and customer support. They keep billing you, even though you tell them several times that you want to quit. I got rid of them once I wrote an official cancellation letter, signed it (pen on paper, in this century) and sent it as attachment. NO GO, complete scam, waste of time and money.

Ladies over 50 BEWARE, 4 out of 7 profiles are fake, they all have business phone numbers, all of them are widowers and dont have any children siblings or friends, and wives have died from cancer, and after a while of texting they will either change the subject or an overseas trip will come up to avoid meeting. Do not send them your email ID, this has happened to me 5 times in the last 8 weeks, luckily I had my EYES WIDE OPEN. Waste of time and money

The name suggests you might meet smart people - you don’t!
Then they keep billing you even though you tell them you want to quit. A complete con - I had to close my bank account to stop paying fees
They are untouchable because they are in Luxembourg- not subject to Australian law

Academic singles would suggest that people on this app have an academic degree, well, that's far from the truth, maybe 1 in 6 or 7 (most men: high school, that's it). After writing an email, the company stated that they appreciated all levels of education... Secondly, they are soooo overpriced (about 5 times more expensive than other similar dating apps, which they don't clearly state when you sign up) and the app is completely rubbish, constantly have to sign in, only to find out that 'your details are incorrect'.

Absolute scammers do not put any bank details as u will never get it back and they will just take more …. Even PayPal can’t help get yr money back.

Less than 5% of my matches were actually academic, most are decades older. When I asked for a refund, the denied because I missed the deadline and recharged for 6 months. Cancellation cannot be done through the webpage, needs to be done via fax or email... to Belgium! Stay away.

I was drawn to this site as I thought that an educated, intelligent man would be a good start. I don’t have anything against tradesmen and if I could find an intelligent tradesperson with other great characteristics I would be happy too. Unfortunately the ones who seemed interested in my profile despite claiming to have degrees, were all scammers, I believe in fact that this site is run by scammers, it is the most deceitful and dishonest organisation I have ever come across. Please don’t join as I guarantee that you will be sorry.
