Hi Kellie,

Ladder holds around 1 persons weight at a time. The ladder can safely hold up to 150kgs with someone climbing in. Yes you can buy a new mattress from us if you want to change the current one. If youd like to get more details on that, feel free to email me on [email protected]

Cheers,
Saleha =)

Hi Kellie, I weigh 86kg and did not feel confident on the ladder (in fact it broke before I’d even set foot on it). However, I bought a telescopic ladder from 4WD Supacentre - I think it cost about $50 or so - and that ladder is fantastic. The installation was simple - 2 small “L” brackets from Bunnings for about $6 and a couple of rivets, and it has resolved the issue. The tent is fantastic value for the money and the mattress is pretty comfortable, although if you really needed to you could upgrade (or place a thin condensed foam mattress - think old style camping mat - under the existing mattress). Happy camping!

Thinking of getting the Adventure Kings fold out roof top tent, and I have been doing some research and nowhere does it say what the weight capacity of the ladder is. My concern is that if I climb the ladder, that it may snap and I'd injure myself. My weight is 160kg and I'm 6ft 2. My partners weight is 70 so together we weigh 230kg. will the tent even hold that? Please could you guys give me a straight forward answer as to what the actual limit is of the tent? Also, what's the go with the bad waterproofing? Has that been fixed or is it still ongoing?
Thank you
Rob

Did you ever try this out? That's my same question as between my partner and I we are 240kgs.

I ended up buying the product and has worked well so far for us.However, with the ladder being aluminum and I have trust issues woth that, I use 2 rope straps on each end and tighten them together so the 2 halves don't give way. I probably don't need to but for safety same, it works well. Definitely worth the buy though!

Hi Robert,

The folded out part is held up by the ladder and partially by the roof rack.
The roof top tents don't have a set weight limit - it all depends on the load bearing capacity of your roof and roof racks. The ladder can safely hold up to 150kgs with someone climbing in - however when you are in the tent sleeping you are not on the folded out part, but at the other end of the tent which holds alot more weight as it is supported by the roof and rack.
If you need any more information, feel free to email me on [email protected]

What is the weight limit for the ladder on the Kings Adventure roof top camper.

Hi Chezza,

According to our product development team, because the length and angle of ladder is different in each setup, we cant put a number on it. The last time we did an inhouse testing, it was ok to hold around 100 kilos weight.

Hi Guys, I have read the reviews and it looks like it is not great for the rain. I'm just hesitating between buying OZTent RV5 and this one. I have had in the past roof top tent which was great in the rain (it was not heavy rain). What I like about roof top tent is the price (nearly 2 times cheaper than RV 5) and that you can setup it in any place. I did just on a side of the road near small town, you also don't need any air mattresses. The rest are the minuses. Once you setup your car is no longer a car - it is a stand for a tent. It can be stolen (what actually happened with the previous one). You can't put it alone on to the car. Do to a heavy weight I sometimes stopped on a gravel road to check if it is secure to go further as I was afraid that it may fell off. It is very heavy. It would take nearly all space on the roof so I can't have my 360l box in there.
With RV-5 I don't like air mattresses will take some time to pump. It is easier for someone to steal it compare to roof top tent. The price is quite expensive.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

So have put my rooftop tent on my triton and it is obviously higher than the norm because the ladder is short and I will need an extension. So befor I open the box with the awning for under the rooftop tent, am I right in thinking it will be too short for the height and can I do anything about it. Cheers Donna

Hi Donna,

The ideal height is 1.9m - 2.1m for the annex to sit at. We do have ladder extensions and annex extensions available as spare parts and you can order them by calling our call centre on 1800 88 39 64.

Has anyone else experienced that the base side that flips open doesn’t go perfectly horizontal nor fit into the recess of the other base? It doesn’t do a full 180 degrees flip, but stays at only 175 degrees open or so.
It’s not due to the ladder pushing it up. And even when sitting on the base end it won’t come down further. It’s as if the tent canvas is so tight it prevents the flipping base side from going fully flat.
The result is the tent floor and mattress are slightly bent in the middle...
What can I do about that?

What does everyone use to prevent condensation under the mattress. Rang Kings and couldn’t get past the reception to talk to someone but was told they had not heard of the problem and to submit photos and put in a claim warranty. NOT HAPPY
Has your base dented? Ours has, right from the first time we put it up.

No problem not solved. They hide behind a key board. Sent us a form to return it after they saw our photos. Problem with that tho is they would only send us another one which we would have to pay to have put on again as we had no way of taking it of again we would have had to pay for that too. We sent email after email to them asking to speak to some one but they keep on sending emails with all sorts of rubbish and not even able to communicate within their own ranks. Last one was that someone would eventually call us by end of business day GUESS WHAT no phone call.
There is only one thing worse then their product (yes it is a cheaper product then some that are out there) and that is their after sales support and customer service. IT STINKS!
We were told to sleep with vents open. We have bought an air cell product to put under the mattress.

I went to op shop, got two king size sheets, cut them to tuck under size, when the edge frays, trim again.
On top what ever you wish to use, depending on temperture. At night if you need to more then once, use a funnel, length of tube and a cork, eeasy, works a treat.
