Electric Blankets & Heated Throws Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of electric blanket or heated throw would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Lumina Throw Rug
I bought two (one for my old mum and one for me) from Aldi over 5 years ago. Both are still working fine. I love it and it's so much easier than lighting the fire. It's big enough to cover your whole body, and has multiple heat settings and timer so you can't accidentally leave it on. Great value at about $30.

Awesome product
I used this few years ago and its working absolutely safe and sound. We bought queen size bed heater and it has dual, control. I like to keep the heating low and my wife likes on high temperature so it works perfect for us

Lumina Heated Throw Rug is dead
Hardly used my Lumina Heated Throw Rug, now it is dead. Tried everything, just won't heat. Pity, will have to throw it out. No good for the planet. Had it for 3 years but only used it around 6 times.

Not better than a Sunbeam.
I agree with the other comments that the Aldi throw works fine, but it doesn't have the longevity of a Sunbeam. My Aldi heated throw stopped functioning after 13 months (just outside the warranty period) whereas my Sunbeam throw was still going strong more than four years after purchase (I think it might actually be more than five years but I can't find the receipt to confirm). The Sunbeam also has a 3-year warranty compared to Aldi's 12-month warranty.

Better than a sunbeam
Having bought a sunbeam electric throw rug a few weeks ago it broke my heart when I saw aldi had them on sale for less than half the price of the sunbeam.
What was even more heart breaking was I find the lumina throw rug better. The fleece is better, the wires run right to the edges of the blanket and controller includes timer unlike sumbeam and the edge of the fleece is done properly where as sunbeams is just overlocked.
They are both washable and give out the same heat on the highest setting.
I wish I held out on the sunbeam but ha...Read more
d no idea aldi would be having a sale. Definitely a must have for the long cold winter nights on the couch. Inexpensive compared to competitor's, energy efficient compared to running a heater and good quality Could heat up a little warmer but same goes with sunbeamSimilar opinion? Love my throw
Ive had my throw since April 2013, so that's 3 and a half months and although the connection overheats when left on extended time frame, I've had no other problems....doesn't need to stay on for long as it heats nicely...hope to have many years with use and will be looking to purchase one for my mum before next winter
inexpensive, efficient use
connection overheats, cleaning instructions not attached to throw

You should check on ALDI safety recall for this product, some time cheap is does explain why they are so cheap.

PS I have just found the Sunbeam receipt and found that the throw lasted me 6 years, compared to 1 year for the Aldi throw. The Sunbeam cost $90 compared to Aldi $30, which means the purchase price w... Read more
