A scam. Was CHARGED to close my account! It felt like blackmail.
In a weak moment I ignored my good sense and signed myself up to be done over by Ashley Madison. I probably deserved it. Please learn from my experience.
Most of the profiles are fakes or prostitutes and scammers. I got many messages from Russian scammers and prostitutes at clock work intervals (every 15 minutes or so on average when online). It would be easy to blow your credit messaging these people if you didn't recognise them. The few real women listed are unresponsive because they are already inundated with messages from the many men wh...Read more
o make up the vast majority of users. When I realised with considerable self disgust what I had fallen for I decided to close my account. Ashley Madison added insult to injury by gouging an exit fee just to close my account! They extorted extra money from me to "remove all traces" of my activities. Of course I'll just have to take them at their word that they did so. It felt like blackmail and just a little bit rapey too. You got me once Ashley Madison but what you bought from me is a lot of bad press. With competition from Tinder and the like this business is circling the drain anyway and most deservedly so.

The profiles of the women are mostly fake. It doesn't matter what hour of the day you login, the same profiles are on line. 9am, 2am 8pm. Same ones every time. I work odd hours so I get to see the site when 99 percent of people would be asleep......but guess what!! Same profiles. As for credits and messaging......they have a sneaky way of making your messages a priority to be read. Of course you don't realise this until you notice that its costing 10 credits and not 5 to send a message. Often with no reply. If you get a reply.....its another 5...Read more

Waste of time
Most profiles are fake. I only met two people off the site both times they were not what they stated they were.
Prostitutes and web scammers occupy the site. So hard to find any one real the same profiles are logged 24/7 and never seem to sign off.

It is ridiculous to even think about cheating on your partner. Shame on everyone who would ever have thoughts to cheat. It must be something wrong with you.

Absolute waste of money.
Just like any other online dating site, lots of fake profiles and webcam scammers. Fake profiles with photos stolen from other sites. Stay away from it.

Great for women
I'm a woman on AM and would recommend it for females. There are some "great" guys on the site. In fact it's hard to choose. I have also put up exactly what I'm looking for in my profile but to no avail...men who do not fit my clear criteria still spend their $ making contact and I don't have the time to be polite to everyone!! I also have to say that married men are the hottest in bed!

Rip Off
Ashley Madison would have to be the biggest rip off I have ever encountered. Profiles are all fake, just don't go there.

Dodgey Slimeballs
If you want to cheat be a respectful human and leave your partner first. If you've been ripped off serves you right, dishonesty begets dishonesty.

I think you are all absolutely vile.
How can you admit to looking online for an affair. Vile human beings who deserve to be taken for all they are worth by their partners who are victims of this behaviour. Adultery is a sin and you will rot for it.

Completely fake and beware the upsell to other sites
I joined AM about a month ago and initially received quite a few emails from 'would be' admirers.
First contact was from a girl in the US claiming she was coming to Melbourne. She wanted to video conference first but I had to pay on a different site to be able to do this. I smelled a rat and didn't bother.
I subsequently got contacted by several other women all claiming to be interested and each one in turn tried to get me to sign up to other sites. Why? Each if these other sites is run by the same company that runs AM. The company's name...Read more
is ALM or ALT, not entirely sure which but it's one of them. Here's a quote from the wikipedia about Ashley Maddison: "In 2012, the company was sued by former employee Doriana Silva, who stated that in preparation for the launch of the company's Portuguese-language website, she was assigned to create over a thousand bogus member profiles within a three-week period in order to attract paying customers, and that this caused her to develop repetitive stress injury." All the reviews I have read here mirror my experience. Don't bother. This is nothing more than a scam. Don't waste your money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
The worst
I have been on a few dating sites and would have to say this is the worst by a long shot! Will drain every penny you have put in with just about everything you do, and watch out for hidden charges they mount up big time. Want to receive an initiated email....credits! want to reply an email to the same person........credits! half hour chat can be around $20. Watch out for fake profiles of course, although this is on every site. Profiles saying they are online when they are not, the list can be endless.
Seems to have alot of attractive people on it.
90% of it, biggest is expensive and draining very quick

I spent $200 to get 2 replies(sorry not interested in the moment, and your too young). Its a fake site and has many fake chat enquiry to steal your credits. This is legal stealing. Stealing stealing stealing!!!!
There should be a criminal investigation. They check boxes to keep deducting your credit card, and they think they can abuse everyone because everyone one there is a piece of [censored word removed].
Appears real
Stealing money and peoples time

Reality
I've been a member for about 2 months and after reading these reviews, I feel terrible. It is free for women and although my pictures are all hidden, I have received hundreds of emails. In the beginning I made a a real effort to respond to every email I got but this became almost impossible. I have deleted emails without even reading them having no idea the expense of sending them for the males.
That being said, it would seem that some men think that because a woman is looking for an affair, she is willing to accept anything. I have accurate...Read more

Fools and money are often parted
Those giving the totally negative reviews are clearly the desperado fools who click on every message they get believing it to be genuine. There are definately fake profiles on ashley Madison but they are definately easy to spot. Simple rule is women are not likely to make first contact so every contact a guy gets should be treated as dubious. And as for being charged for ongoing membership there are options to check when you sign up to ensure that doesn't happen. Just need to look a bit closer. The site is designed to rip off desperate males wh...Read more
ich they seem to do easily. Why complain about the charge to delete the profile? Why not just stop using it? Unless you were dumb and put something on it that identifies yourself. It is possible to be successful without spending too much. I have. Serves a purpose Can be expensiveSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not a joke, far from it!
I joined AM about two months ago, purchasing only once the minimum amount of credits available (100). Since then, I have corresponded with several women, met three in person. If a guy can't meet a woman on AM, then he needs to review what it is he's put on his profile, and how it is he's approaching and talking to these women. I've found the profiles are real (granted, there are some fakes, but they're easy to spot), and the women are normal. How would you approach a random woman in person? The same rules apply. Get a clue, guys! You still have to be intriguing and seductive - DUH!
Discreet, easy to use, lots of profiles, results-oriented
I can see how it might become expensive

This is the next big scam after the 'Nigerian' one. It's a complete rip off and all women on the site are fake and created by AM to make stupid men (like me) spend money.
DO NOT FALL FOR ITS CLAIMS OF "as seen on CNN and CA" I have never written a negative review about anything in my life but here it is...

Beware Fake Site
BEWARE this is a fake site....DONT BOTHER SPENDING MONEY...when you buy credits admiration will send you fake collect massages until you are out of credits and you'll never receive or hear back from those mails. 99% of the profiles are fake and most of them are created by the administration to make you spend all your money. There are lots of better sites out there so don't get fooled.

Has anyone had to pay to meet someone for security reasons for verification?
4 answers
I am not sure of your exact situation with this one but were the site be asking you to pay for verification purposes then they would be legally seen to be verifying you. I cannot see any dating site wanting to open a can of worms like that one based on a probably stolen credit card available from one of the many web sites out there that specialise in that sort of thing. The people who run web sites should be well aware of that fact, let alone that possession of a credit card in no way guarantees your intent or even psychological profile.
Did Ashley Madison actually come up with that one? Perhaps you have been sent an email from another party claiming to be Ashley Madison asking for your details. This is quite common and is called Phishing (Everybody should google that now). They use the method to get your credit card details and then sell them on one of the afore mentioned sites. Or just use it for identity theft.
The short answer is No, No and No. This has nothing to do with security. It is anti security and namely yours. Do not touch this with a ten foot barge pole.
Thanks, it was the woman I was emailing with she said it was for safety reasons and security for her
Dating sites must have a lot of clout if they can access police data bases to check if you've got a history of violence/sexual assault. It's a scam, aided and abetted by the sites. Cupid PLC's sites are rife with them.
