Extremely efficient long lasting heater

published

We purchased our Archer in 2006 and it has worked extremely efficiently for the last 9 years, we run our heater on LPG. Last month when I turned it on it kept cutting out and would only work on the low setting. After reading the reviews I thought I was in for a large amount of money to fix it or replace it. I contacted Archer in Melbourne and they put us on to one of their service team and he was excellent. It only cost $300 and the heater is working better than ever. He was very informative and explained you really need someone that knows these heaters inside out to work on them or you could waste a lot of money and still not have your heater running well.

Lasted less than 5 years!

published

Purchased 2010 and paid $4000.00. Heater now will not reach High. Will get to medium to the front and back burners both on. Turn off the front low one, thinking that it should stay on medium, but after 5 minutes the fan returns to low. Authorized repair men have spent 3 hours so far trying to fix it.

Brilliant machine! Very warm and energy efficient

published

We moved into a house that had one already installed. We've lived here a year and are very happy with our Archer. It warms the bottom storey of the house well, is very hot on the higher setting so we usually only need it on low. We were also pleasantly surprised with how energy efficient it is considering the boost in warmth. We have literally halved our bills since using it compared to our old $1200 Rianni gas heater (you get what you pay for). Currently very happy and surprised to see any negative reviews.

Ten years on - very happy

published

Installed into our then new home as only heat source ten years ago. We live in Central Victoria where it gets very cold. Extremely efficient and will warm the house very quickly. There have been niggles over the years but the travelling service man is very responsive. Our heater has averaged just over one service, inspection per year. The most recent issue early this year was that batteries in the "remote" and controller needed replacing.

Don't buy one of these heaters unless you are a qualified Plumber/gasfitter!!

published

Purchased an Archer IS200 gas log heater which was installed on 27/5/2015. Three weeks later to the day it stopped working. Paid just on $5000 inclusive of installation. After 2 days, Plumber Hubby got it going again. Still no repairer sent to inspect it. NO after sales service!! Don't buy unless you can fix yourself.

Five star lemon

published

First year ok then nothing but trouble, no service available. Just came back from overseas trip to find the power had been tripped while we were away, got electrician to house and it was caused by heater. It has been an absolute lemon with nothing but trouble. Won't start, only one burner will light, water pump broken. Now it caused all our food in freezer to go off by tripping the house. These heaters are crap along with service if your in Sydney.

Technical assistance.

published

I bought the unit from Auburn AGL and now the shop closed down. I got a telephone number for somebody to come to service the unit and still I am waiting for his call after I called him twice asking for assistance.
This is not provided for free so I don't understand why you can't train more people for service
Is ridiculous to have product made in Australia and not to have service people .

Great Gas Log Fire

published

Had our heater 10 to 15 years, Have been very pleased with the heat and efficiency .
When I rang about a problem the office told me over the phone what to do.
main problems were batteries or needed a vacuum out about once a year, or make sure the exhaust pipe is clear which happened once. Touch wood nothing has been replaced in that time. I totally agree with Michael

I completely agree with you Michael, our heater is as old and with a vacuum out and keeping the fan clean, the Archer is still giving maximum heat. Harry

Great Heat. Noisey. Didn't work due to screws in water box getting corroded, easy fixed.

When it works, it good, but when it breaks, might as well bin it

published

Bought a house with an Archer fire in it, and when it works it generates a lot of heat.
Now the fan is not coming on, and it is easier to locate Rocking Horse Droppings than get someone who can service the thing.
The only consolation is that we didn't but the thing, it came with the house, so we just got new central heating instead, easier, cheaper, and can get real live people to service it.
I would recommend staying clear of the Archer, unless your a plumber who can service it yourself of course.
Generates a lot of heat.
Once it needs service/repair, you may as well throw it out.

Now I have found a great service guy in Perth

published

I did provide a poor review previously due to the lack of customer service from the Head Office when I did have a problem with one of my fires. However I have now located a service guy in Perth, Michael Jackson who I highly recommend and my fire is back to 100% efficient again.

I have had four of these fires in a couple of properties over the past 8-years and just one problem during that time, however the Head Office really does need to improve their customer service when someone does call, this is the only thing which lets them down. Otherwise a fantastic product and I would recommend.
Energy Efficient and fantastic heat
Lack of customer service from Head Office when you call

Hopeless service

Do not purchase one of these archer heaters the service is pathetic you can not find any one to service it and the company will not stand behind their products, to old they say throw it out we don't have parts to replace damaged parts, very nice lady in front desk, but behind that they are hopeless.

Service and attitude to the customer.

Would not recommend

published

1st winter was fine, very little use though, now 2nd burner wont work and very disappointed . Seems to be a solenoid and from other comments is common .
Stacked up well on efficiently if only it worked .Nearly $3,000 would expect better quality.
So i would not recommend it !
Heated well when working
Obviously the quality falls short of a good product .

Aurora Gas Log

published

Did have a bit of a teething problem but Aurora were good and actually flew a tech out to fix it and he did this quickly.

Since then our gas log fire has been marvellous, heats whole house n doesnt use lots of gas.

I think they were a bit unreliable in past but they have really upped their game now and are a very efficient heater.

Would I buy another one if I moved?

Definetly.
great heat, cheap to run
none really

Hello, Susan, you will probably need to reset or relearn the receiver for the remote in the heater this is a simple procedure that we can guide you through over the phone our phone numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03)9795-8895 best regards from Tech support at Aurora Climate Systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fires ......

I'm interested in your 1200 series fires, but no dealer within 100k seems to have one I could see. I've had 2 Archers and no complaints. If you want to be warmed by a gas heater, I'd say get an Archer. But if you can't see one, that's a problem. Why does Archer not appoint more dealers?

we do have a dealer in Canberra with a very good display unfortunately he just doesn't have a 1200 on display yet as it is a relatively new model we are hoping this will change in the next 3 to 4 months for the upcoming 2020 winter unfortuneatley right now the closest place you would be able to see one running would be a dealer in Sydney thank you for your inquiry best regards from Aurora Climate Systems Ph 1300 388 953 ..........

thanks, Aurora, for your reply, confirming the situation as i described it. There is a lead time associated with choosing a fire, designing the wall space, getting quotes and building in and installing a gas log fire of the nature we are talking about. By April, in Canberra at least, you are looking for a bit of warmth at night. Xmas to April is really the only time your house doesn't need it on hand. In the interests of selling,
you should have your stuff in front of potential customers all the time. Archer is in my view a good product, unique in the Australian market. If it's outsold by others, and I think it probably is, it's due in part to a pretty relaxed attitude about marketing at HQ. Best wishes, Phil M

David S.asked

Hi Aurora A.
I have an Archer Gas Log Fire heater (Model FS100) that was installed about ten years ago. It had been working well without any problem until recently. The problem seems to be that the fan sitting inside the heater does not work. As the body of the heater gets hot very quickly without the fan working, the heater shuts off and would not be turned back on until the body is cooled. Any suggestion or information about a repairer for the problem would be much appreciated. Thank you. David (P.S. The locality is Pymble NSW.)

Hello David if your convection fan is not running you may need a new thermistor or motor run capacitor or the fan motor itself may need to be replaced, a technician should be able to check this out for you with the use of a multimeter, also it would be good if the Tech has the parts on him so he only needs to make one trip a tech for you that has knowledge of the Archers is Phil Phelan from Hows your plumbing Ph 0412 012 789 he's based in Sydney N.S.W for other areas and advice please call Aurora on 1300 388 953 Thank you ................
