So glad we chose this heater
Our Real Flame freestanding gas heater gave up the ghost this year after 23 years of service. It didn’t owe us a cent. Our gas plumber suggested Regency heaters. I read reviews of various brands on Product Review and was very impressed with those for the Regency FG39. The heater has been in for a month now and we think it’s great. I had read that it is designed so it doesn’t create a draught in outer parts of a room and that proved to be true. It’s heat production is very effective, the fan is quiet (our last one was very noisy) and it is quick...Read more
and easy to start. With our last heater we had to wait ten minutes after ignition before starting the fan but that’s not the case with the FG39, it starts automatically when you turn the heater on. The log set looks very effective both when the heater is on and off and during use it creates a cosy ambience. We bought the remote control which makes ignition and turning off very easy and allows you to use manual or auto modes to set temperature, fan speed and program on/off times.1 comment

Exceeded my expectations!!
I was so over the gas dusted heating we had. We have a solid brick home and replaced the 2 sliding doors, kitchen and main bedroom windows with double glazed ones so now on a 5C morning in Melb the inside doesn't drop below 15C, and we like an inside temp of 18C. Since installing the FG39 we are so happy. The heater is so easy to operate, set the temp, turn it on and be warm. The flue is ducted to the external wall fitted with the AstroCap, so the air intake is external alleviating the draft problem. It heats the space quietly but so efficient and the ambiance is awesome. 15C to 18C in under an hour, then turns on and off to maintain temp.

Simply brilliant heaters with stunning looks.
I have moved 4 times and every time installed a Regency Gas Heater, they are easy to use simply switch it on and they heat the house really well, no need for jumpers in our house because the one heater heats the whole 230sqm house as well as looking great. I recently moved again and lucky me there was a Regency Gas Heater already installed, I recommend servicing the machine every few years to keep the flames looking good. Parts are available for years so your investment is well worth it.

A Real Showpiece and Very Functional
We just had a Regency FG39 installed at our parents house in Melbourne by https://gaslogfiresmelbourne.com . Although they have only used it once so far this year they are very happy with how quickly it warmed the entire house. It is also a real showpiece. On a side note the guys who installed it did a fantastic job.

very happy
When our 10 year old Bonaire Pyrox gas wall heater died at the end of last winter (we cheered - cos it was so noisy and often felt like it blew cool air) but we were then faced with a difficult decision of what to replace it with. We would have loved to put in a "built in" gas log heater but didn't have any where to put it (need a decent wall cavity to build it in to). So it was either replace with one of the few wall heaters available which all have poor ratings, or ducted heating which we arn't convinced about for both $$ of running and truth...Read more
fully we didn't need to heat the entire house, or a wood heater which we love but dont have time for or $$ buying wood, so it came down to a freestanding gas log heater. After much online googling we dicided to go with the Regency F39 as it had good reviews looked pretty good, had a nice compact looking shape and a very realistic flame and the F39 model has this wizz bang flue thingy (which is the main reason we chose this model) that stops cool drafts & it does seem to work. So we went and bought one and asked for installation as well. Also asked first that they come and remove our old heater and give us some time to patch and paint the wall and build a hearth for it to sit on as it would have been sitting on carpet and it just wouldn't have looked right. FYI they also were able to build the hearth for us but hubby is a tradie and was able to do the task. It all went quite smoothly and the place we purchased it from were very professional and easy to deal with. They had their preferred installer who did a great job (he also came to take down the old heater). It looks fantastic and we get lots of compliments on it. So, does it heat well? (had it installed in April 2016 and have used it all winter) Well, i guess so... it's amazing to stand in front of on a cold night and the house is warm enough (small house) and there's no cold breeze from the fan... hubby is thrilled with it... i'm pretty happy with it. FYI we have another bonaire pyrox heater in the kitchen area and we used to put on both bonaire heaters on a really cold night but we havn't had to use the other heater since we got the regency which is good (aside from just heating the kitchen in the morning). We run it high to warm up on a cold day then drop it to low and leave it on low, rarely having to turn it back up. It's mostly quiet apart from having the fan up high but its not even a bad noise... we are right next to it and can comfortably hear the TV etc. However it does have a rattle that can last for a minute on and off when its on low setting, it wont usually last too long but it IS annoying esp that it happened in the first few weeks. I havn't been too bothered to call the company yet but may just be the fan needing oil?? or something simple?? i hope. Also we initially didnt bother with the remote control.. we arnt that lazy.. but then after installation we realised the controls are on the bottom of the unit at the front and was annoying to have to get on hands and knees to turn on, off, up and down etc.. in the show room i thought they had the controls on the back corner which i thought was a bit ugly anyway but i dont know what that was about. So i phoned and asked them to order me the RC and it came in a few days in the mail and was easy to set up. BTW, a comment to the regency company.. What's with the massive size of the RC? so far it's been confused for the home telephone and the TV remote control.. it's massive! Would have preferred something small and discreet - it's really my only complaint about the product. Overall we are happy with it and would recommend it quite confidently. Our gas bill seems slightly lower than last year (possibly due to not having to run two heaters).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Heater
In late August I replaced my Rinnai which was a dreadful heater but the best available at the time. The Regency looks great, puts out a huge amount of heat and is very quiet to run. It is the first time I have been warm for years when I got rid of the wood heater for gas. The remote control and auto features work well. When it ignites early in the morning it is so quiet it does not wake me up.
This heater continues to perform flawlessly. It is quiet, produces good heat. The remote control and programming is excellent. Pity about the price of gas.

Absolutely awesome
We bought the FG39 to replace a slow combustion wood heater. This gas heater has literally changed our lives. It is so easy to use, looks stylish, has all the ambience of a real fire (without the hassle) and puts out heaps of heat. The FG39 also has the advantage of a direct vent flue system which keeps the whole combustion air flow completely seperate from the air in the room.
We were out to buy the best possible freestanding gas log fire available. I reckon this is it.
Heats large spaces, realistic fire, easy to use, looks great

Wow! So good for Canberra winters.
Puts out a lot of heat!
We have a medium size lounge room and we have to run the F39 at low flame with the fan on low or it gets too warm. Awesome!
The flame is gorgeous and when going looks quite realistic.
Have had people ask if it's real.
Couldn't be happier, finally we are warm in this house.

How do you take the glass of to clean the heater and also where do you buy new logs. Also how often do you need to replace logs
2 answers
Hi Henny
I've never opened the heater to clean glass, I have no buildup or staining. The logs are very expensive to replace, and you can get them from Regency. According to the instruction book, they last the life of the heater. Personally I have no intention of opening the heater to clean, only vacuum and dust the outside. Very happy with the performance of the heater, have it 3 seasons now.
Thank you

Hello
We are looking to purchase this heater and wanted an update from those who wrote a review on this product (as the last review was written 7 months ago!). Have you had any issues and were there any things you wished the heater could do (which doesn't)? Does it maintain a constant temperature (once it reaches the set temp)?
Thanks!

Kat, we have had this heater one winter and gas bill dropped a third compared to ducted heating. Once the temp is set, it'll maintain that. It's a lovely even temp throughout the house, no draughts, no noise. No hesitation to recommend. Must get control device.
Thank you Evol I really appreciate your response. We will definitely look to include the remote as well as it has been recommended by several stores to have this for temperature control.
