I'm interested in your 1200 series fires, but no dealer within 100k seems to have one I could see. I've had 2 Archers and no complaints. If you want to be warmed by a gas heater, I'd say get an Archer. But if you can't see one, that's a problem. Why does Archer not appoint more dealers?

we do have a dealer in Canberra with a very good display unfortunately he just doesn't have a 1200 on display yet as it is a relatively new model we are hoping this will change in the next 3 to 4 months for the upcoming 2020 winter unfortuneatley right now the closest place you would be able to see one running would be a dealer in Sydney thank you for your inquiry best regards from Aurora Climate Systems Ph 1300 388 953 ..........

thanks, Aurora, for your reply, confirming the situation as i described it. There is a lead time associated with choosing a fire, designing the wall space, getting quotes and building in and installing a gas log fire of the nature we are talking about. By April, in Canberra at least, you are looking for a bit of warmth at night. Xmas to April is really the only time your house doesn't need it on hand. In the interests of selling,
you should have your stuff in front of potential customers all the time. Archer is in my view a good product, unique in the Australian market. If it's outsold by others, and I think it probably is, it's due in part to a pretty relaxed attitude about marketing at HQ. Best wishes, Phil M

Hi Aurora A.
I have an Archer Gas Log Fire heater (Model FS100) that was installed about ten years ago. It had been working well without any problem until recently. The problem seems to be that the fan sitting inside the heater does not work. As the body of the heater gets hot very quickly without the fan working, the heater shuts off and would not be turned back on until the body is cooled. Any suggestion or information about a repairer for the problem would be much appreciated. Thank you. David (P.S. The locality is Pymble NSW.)

Hello David if your convection fan is not running you may need a new thermistor or motor run capacitor or the fan motor itself may need to be replaced, a technician should be able to check this out for you with the use of a multimeter, also it would be good if the Tech has the parts on him so he only needs to make one trip a tech for you that has knowledge of the Archers is Phil Phelan from Hows your plumbing Ph 0412 012 789 he's based in Sydney N.S.W for other areas and advice please call Aurora on 1300 388 953 Thank you ................

How do i access the fan for cleaning purposes

2 answers

I’m not sure about your model, but with the IS900 model the technician had to pull out the whole heater out of the fireplace to access the back where the fan is located. It’s not a 5 minute job, as there are other panels you have to unscrew to get to the fan. You would probably be better off calling in a technician. I hope this helps
Cheers

Just jumping on board this question, we have had nothing but problems with our heater since new about 10 years ago. The company did fix it at the start though but I’m wondering about this build up of water and then a hissing sound when the heater shuts off when it reaches the temperature. Is this normal and also Normal to feel the spray of water if standing in front of it when it hisses. Does not do it on every shut off

Dylan

Dylanasked

Just had an IS900 installed.

It works well however the fan is loud in our living room. Is this normal?

This evening only our rear burner will ignite. The front burner indicator light flashes then the igniter glows but won’t start. It’s as though gas isn’t flowing to the front burning.

Any ideas on the noise or the front burner?

Sorry this is something you need to speak to the company about as I am sure they will only be to happy to help you with your issue.
I suppose that the noise of the fan depends if you have carpet or floorboards. Saying that I have had carpet and floorboards and I do not find that the fan is something that is an issue. I really can’t say that I have heard the fan so it must not be something that is not bothering me.
Please contact the company as they are so obliging and helpful. Hope your problems get resolved promptly which I am sure they will.

Hello Dylan need to know which fan you are talking about flue fan or convection the flue fan can be adjusted but the convection fans are automatically controlled by a thermal resistor, also when you are lighting the front burner are you doing this while the back one is already going or trying to start it on its own, from a cold start it is recommended that you start the back burner first if you need further assistance please call us on 1300 388 953 or (03)9795 8895 or E-Mail [email protected] thank you best regards Archer Gas Log Heaters/Fires .....

New IS900 installed 2 weeks ago and I’ve got 2 quick questions.

1. The fan to what I think is the flue is loud and quiet high pitched. Is this normal?

2. Both burners did work however only the rear is now working. The front burning tries to ignite (the igniter glows) but won’t start. It’s as if the gas isn’t flowing.

Any ideas on the above?

rob

robasked

Hi, I have an older free standing Archer model (possibly FS100). Last winter we had renovations to build a new deck in the area behind the wall where the heater is located and we changed the fluing from a straight through the wall arrangement to a through the ceiling arrangement. The ceilings are quite high (no cavity) and the flue is close to the 5.1m limit.

We also had a new water pump installed in the humidifier unit at about the same time.

The heater seemed to operate effectively for a couple of months including the pump as we routinely heard the hiss as water was pumped to the evaporation plate. However, one evening when turning the heater off I found a significant pool of water on the floor. Unfortunately we can't recall whether we heard the hiss of water from the humidifier that evening as after a while these types of noises become part of the background and while you might notice them happening you rarely notice that they aren't happening.

Is it likely that the problem has been caused by a failure of the humidifier pump or could there also be complications with the flue? There is one clear difference with our flue installation - due to the lack of a ceiling cavity there isn't a "bend" of the flue in the ceiling cavity using two 45 degree joins as per the installation instructions.

We live on the south coast of NSW and there is no authorised rep in the area, nor will any gas heater company look at the heater. Keen to see if we can get this fixed as it has been a very good heater and replacement cost is significant. If you know of anyone in the Nowra area that can assist I would be grateful.
