Highly Recomend This Bike
As someone who is mostly a runnner looking for a good bike to add some cross training to my program,I must say the Avanti giro f1 is turning me from a runner into a cyclist, I love it . Its riding position and ride feel is really good and the free wheeling effortlessness of consistently rolling through the km's is so enjoyable this bike may be promoted from trainer to touring or even Duathalons. The ability to grow this bike is endless and I am really glad i bought it, and for a cost of under $700.00 this is great value and I recommend it highly.

Excellent
Absolutely perfect 1st roadie - could not recommend a better bike to start with. I have clocked up 8000km in the first year, and zero problems from the bike.
Keep in mind that your first road bike is a base that you can build on, and the whole point of owning a road bike is to improve yourself as a cyclist, and to improve the bike to match your growing abilities. Everything on a bike is adjustable for position - so what you want in a first roadie is a decent frame + a decent groupset at a great price.

astic - there is only a marginal gap going up to ultegra or dura ace now. 105 is way good enough for your first years of road riding. The aluminum frame on the Giro is very strong and durable, and quite light. Carbon seatstays are a very worthwhile touch, and not something you can add to a frame down the track. First up, I chose a slightly smaller frame than recommended. I am 5'10" .. chart says large for me (54cm), I say Medium (52.5). This provides a base that is lighter, with a nice shorter wheelbase, shorter headtube, and lower center of gravity = sportier. Then push that seat back a tad, and go for a longer head stem - you now have the same relative position on the bike as the more expensive 'race' models. Seat was the next thing to go - standard model was a bit wrong for me, so I upgraded to a Fizik arione and is now perfect.1 comment

Excellent Bike
I purchased a 2010 model Avanti Giro two years ago and have completed more than 7500km on it so far. At the time, it was the best value for money bike I could get at the $2000 mark. It offered Shimano 105 components and carbon fibre forks, seat post, chain stays and seat stays. No other brand could offer that at the same price.
It has been a robust, reliable and well-designed bike which I have been really happy with. The only draw-back was the seat, which I replaced early with a Selle-Italia leather seat which was much more comfortable...Read more
. The gears have needed adjustment periodically over the last two years, which is normal as the cables stretch slightly with use. I also replaced the front wheel bearings at about the 6500km mark. Value for money, reliability, weight and quality. Factory standard seat was uncomfortable with frequent use (around 200 km per month).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
