Bird Gard Ultrasonic Roof Off Possum Removal
Worked like a treat
I have had possums in the roof cavity for a number of months. Several possums were in there and I tried a variety of measures to get rid of them. Started with cages, but had no luck. Then tried a spray which was a possum repellent, but also no luck. Then I put spotlights in the roof cavity, but they found a dark spot and still remained. Finally, I thought I would try the Bird Gard devices. I bought three and installed them in the roof cavity to obtain the best coverage. The advice from the Bird Gard company was invaluable. Anyway I inst...
Read morealled them and within one day I could no longer hear them in my roof space. After a few days I sealed the tiny hole by which they were entering the roof. The hole was only about 30 mm diameter, but somehow they managed to squeeze through. So for 3 weeks no noises and thought we had success. Unfortunately then I started getting a bad dead animal smell from the corner of my roof, at the further most point away from the Bird Gards. It obviously found this corner to stay and it couldn't leave because I had sealed up the hole. It must have died of thirst/hunger. I got the possum removed and I was amazed how big it was. Like a cat. So, no more possums in the roof. I am leaving the Bird Gards there for a few more months just in case. I have found the possums can squeeze through the smallest holes and they don't like to leave the roof space at all. It is very comfortable in there for them and it is a real challenge to get them out. I have found that Bird Gard was the best of all the possible solutions.

DON'T get ripped off!!!
Let's get the first line clear. You get EXACTLY THE SAME device from Kogan for 20% of the price (and more if you buy a 2 pack)!!! It doesn't work for me, and if you want to try it out try it with much much less money!
I brought the "Roof Off" from Bird Gard for over $250 inc freight as we were pestered incessantly by a possum in our roof space. Upon searches and reviews on the internet, mainly from this site actually, which I found to be very respectful, I decided to bit the bullet and paid the rather large amount despite cheaper versions ...
Read moreavailable on eBay and in Bunnings - which I COULD take back for a refund, but Bird Gard says refund only after you've used it for 3 weeks and only within 90 days and ONLY with head office approval. The packaging was a very cheap generic white cardboard box with no external labels, printed or sticker. The instructions were on printed piece of cheap paper and unclear (regurgitated from the Chinese manufacturer) and the construction just average. The back panel is a semi-hard plastic without any clipper or fixation device, and you have to push hard to squeeze the back (by deforming the plastic). I am a keen observer (as you can see from my other posts), and looked at the device very carefully - and then discovered that they are exactly the same design, shape, colour, format, specifications and parts as the Kogan repeller, except for the Bird Gard sticker on top of the device. I followed all the instructions that came with the device and adjusted the position several times to try to cover the roof area. Now it could be that the possum is moving behind the beam where the ultrasound wave gets deflected or absorbed, but after a number of attempts by a 6'2 man in a tiny roof space and over four weeks I gave up. My magical formula was VERY simple for the roof space. As space is confined with little air circulation, and with the very sensitive nose of the little critters (to smell the ripening of the fruits and blossoming of the flowers), I suspected they'd be put off by pungent smell, and which some people have recommended blood and bone and Tobasco sauce as a deterrent.Bird Gard people: I don't have the time to read your elaborate rebuttal story, but let me get some points across crispy clear:

Read moreold at one-fifth of the price at Kogan, when the two products are cosmetically identical! This can also be verified if one looks at the Kogan possum repellant manual which is available for free download online https://assets.kogan.com/files/usermanuals/PTPSMREP1PA-A.pdf, oh yes the difference is that they have an extra handy remote control. If you can rebut then, my apologies and I'll modify my comment, but if not then your product is OVERPRICED and a RIP OFF!Questions & Answers

Hello Jonno
Sorry to hear the Roof Off device didn’t work for you. It is frustrating when a device doesn’t solve any particular possum problem. I think I did briefly speak with you on the phone, and ...
Read moreit seemed to me that you had convinced yourself the device would work for you. So much so, I felt the need to caution you and explained that the ultrasonics only emits one way so there’s no defence behind the device. I should add that rather than adjusting the position of the device several times over 4 weeks, we do say leave the device in one spot for at least 3 weeks. The record time to repel a possums out of a roof space is 2 months, and the quickest results are just one day. The Roof Off comes with a 90 day money back guarantee and you can use the device for all that time.
