When you turn it on and the light comes on ready to use does it make the clicking sound it makes when priming? If not it can be the switch on the handle has broken its a common problem. It can be replaced if you are handy type of person

It does leave streaks afterwards, but they soon dry out, especially if you leave a outside door open.

The side tubing can be disassembled and washed as you wish. Just make sure it's dry before using the vacuum again.

Does the vacuum have a hose suction (as with other vacs) for the skirting boards, tight places, etc.? I'm loving all the great feedback but would be interested to know. Thanks in advance.

Hi Caroline, it is just an upright vacuum with no attachments. It would not replace your regular vacuum but is good to quickly vac hard floors before steaming.

Hi, no there is no suction so you can't get behind furniture that is hard to move or small spots, something for bissell to work on.
Would be an even better item if they had that attachment
Its not advertised to use on carpets but I use it on carpets in the bedroom, suits my use.

How well does it work on carpets and rugs?

It picks up crumbs etc and for the mat in front of the kitchen sink its fine but for our carpeted areas I still use a normal vacuum. I doubt it would give a 'Deep' vacuum on carpet but its great for a premop vacuum on a hard floor.

Don't know, never tried it.

It works but this vacuum is really a hard floor product, so I wouldn't recommend this product if more than half of your house is carpeted.

Hi, I'm researching the Bissell Vac & steam cleaner, I have timber varnished floors which are throughout my home, has anyone used this product on timber floors and what result have they achieved?

My whole house is very old timber flooring and this vac has worked wonderfully for me. I use it on low steam with the normal mop head once a week and my floors look great. Just don't leave the unit in one spot on the floor, I did this once for about 10 minutes and that spot on my floor is now noticeably lighter than the rest of the floor. This, of course, is my own fault, not a problem with the unit.

Hi, I have not used mine on our timber floors as I am reluctant to, so I cannot assist you I'm sorry. I only use it to clean tiles and for this purpose it is brilliant.

Would you say that the sound in vacume mode is very loud? Seen some reviews on you tube and the machine sounds v loud. Also are you able to get into the corners and flush against walls to mop as it seems the vacume part of the mop would get in the way of doing this. Thanks

I find it isn't any louder than any other vacuum cleaner. I think the size and it being an upright vacuum can make you think it won't be as loud as a barrel vacuum, so it's more unexpected than loud.

As for mopping the corners, I find it pushes dirt into corners on tiled surfaces, but no problems on floorboards since the mop pad covers most of the area that touches the ground. The dirt in corners is nothing that can't be fixed with a quick dust busting once the floor is dry. Don't let that put you off though, it's probably a bit more obvious on our tiles because we have white, glossy tiles so even the tiniest speck of dirt is obvious on them. If I use the vacuum + mop at the same time, it really reduces the amount of dirt in the corners.

For me, I find the vacuum function to be ear-piercingly loud - high frequency noise. My ears were ringing as if I'd been to a concert, but this is so easily fixed by using hearing protection. Very simple. As for your second question, no, you cant reach the corners at all with the mop, nor will you be able to mop the edges of the walls if you are approaching them front on with the mop - due to that gap you're already aware of. I try to combat this by mopping the edges with the side of the mop as opposed to going in front on wherever I can, but of course this isn't possible to do everywhere so I just hand-clean the areas that I couldn't mop afterward. For my place, which is quite large, this only takes 30 seconds to a minute extra and I just use the cleaning pad from the machine. Hope this helps.
